Forest Creek is a beautiful vacation home located in Colorado's mountain wilderness. A secluded place for skiers, snowboarders, hikers, whitewater rafters, writers, naturalists, photographers or those seeking tranquility. This mountain style cabin was built in 1999 and has 2460 square feet. The front porch and balcony have a close up view of Monarch Ridge towering above. There is also a back porch and balcony, with a cascading stream (South Fork of the Arkansas River) running below and the rocky craig in the near distance.
Inside you are welcomed into a great room with cathedral ceilings accented with an Empire Gas Stove. A flat screen TV with Blu Ray DVD player and an assortment of DVD's await your visit. The great room opens up to the dining room and there is a fully equipped kitchen off of the dining room.
The master bedroom equipped with TV and DVD player is located downstairs and has a French door leading to the back porch. For a treat try the slipper tub for a relaxing bath.
Upstairs you enter a sleeping loft with two full size beds with a French door leading to the front balcony's majestic views. There are two bedrooms with French doors leading to the balcony overlooking the river. The west bedroom has a full bed. The east bedroom has a king and a bunk bed and a TV for video games and game table. A full bath is located upstairs.

Just got back from a wonderful stay in the mountains! The owners have spent a lot of time (and money) making the place comfortable and homey for all who visit. The cabin is nestled in the woods with plenty of off-street parking available right in front of the cabin. They recently resurfaced and reconfigured the parking area making it easy to drive in, park and turn around. As another guest mentioned, the well-equipped open kitchen is a great place to cook and the adjoining dining area make for a great place for a dinner party. The recently added dishwasher makes clean-up much easier. The upstairs loft area has two double beds and would be a great place for kids to sleep and play with the cozy rug covering the floor up there. It's a wonderful place to just sit back, relax and watch the wildlife for your entertainment. If you need more modern forms of entertainment, there are flat screen TVs upstairs and down with satellite TV service. I also understand that they're in the process of replacing their internet service with high speed access. So, everyone can have the option of staying connected at big city speeds. I highly recommend this charming, peaceful get away in the woods!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a warm stove to cuddle up to! a great kitchen to cook in, and a wonderful table to share meals around after a day of being outside shopping or enjoying the outdoors. The temperatures outside were frigid, but we were warm and toasty inside, thanks to the Empire stove and the warm blankets on the bed. I slept so soundly. Wow! my facebook photos to friends back home were just amazing! It was the best vacation of all times! Thanks for a beautiful cabin and all the love you give to it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Harry grew up in Salida and the first time he took me to visit, I was enchanted. Some of his fondest memories are of hiking back into the mountain lakes and creeks to fish and getting to skii Monarch. I grew up in the hot, humid south and love the cooler temperatures with low humidity and eagerly look forward to retirement in Chaffee County. When we are on our way to the cabin and we see the snow capped mountains, we know we're nearly home.
Why the Owner Chose Monarch:
We bought Forest Creek in 2010 and it was love at first sight. The natural setting is beautiful with the river, the majestic cliffs and the forest. In the fall, the beauty of the fall color is awe inspiring and the sound of the river and waterfall are soothing to the ears year round. From the time you enter the cabin you feel at peace, knowing this is a place where you can unwind and remove yourself from the stresses of life. The cabin has lovely views from every window porch and balcony.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Forest Creek is your great escape in any season! For the winter guest.. Skiing Monarch is #1, with all natural powder.. Or you can have a great time sledding, snow shoeing, skiing, or snowmobiling . For warmer seasons, the list of activities is unlimited: mountain biking, horseback riding, 4 WD exploring, Zip-treking, searching through galleries, antique stores or fabulous yarn shops. Evening fun in Salida can be catching live music in taverns or coffee houses or The Steam Plant.
