Lovely Waterfront Home

The perfect place to soothe the frazzled soul: much more than a cottage, this lovely, architect-designed waterfront home commands a spectacular view of the Strait of Georgia. It overlooks safe, sandy Morning Beach, Lion Islet and the mountains of the mainland. At night the lights of Vancouver glitter on the horizon. The very private mature garden blends seamlessly with the surrounding forest. Two decks, including one at the water's edge, and a sheltered patio overlooking an evergreen garden complete the picture. A magical landscaped stone staircase leads to the shore.
The house offers 2000 square feet of comfortable furnishings and original art work, in a blissful relaxed setting. The master bedroom with queen-size bed and ensuite bathroom has tree-filtered views into the bay, while the second bedroom with twin beds has a sliding door onto a secluded deck surrounded by forest and ocean views.
Curl up by the woodburning stove. While away your stay here watching the seasonal array of wildlife in the bay; otters, seals, sea lions, hummingbirds, eagles, kingfishers, and the occasional orca. Or for those days when you need more stimulation, explore the island and its surrounding waters by kayak, horseback, bike or scooter, all readily available to rent on this jewel of the southern Gulf Islands.

Two of the most wonderful vacation weeks we have experienced. Upon arrival we were most impressed with the:- - extreme cleanliness of the home. - magnificent view, which took our breath away, - everything was supplied that we could ever need, - the owners (brief conversation) conveyed the feeling that they wanted us to have a great two weeks. - there were no clocks in living room, suggesting that this was a place to forget the busyness of the world across the water and relax. We have no hesitation in recommending this well appointed home and its beautiful location for your consideration. Two grateful and very relaxed vacationers J & JRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Guy & I have stayed in many cabins & B&B’s in the Gulf Islands & Sunshine Coast and let me tell you that The Anchorage was fabulous!!! Extremely clean, all the comforts of home, cosey bed, fantastic view and lovely private backyard ;))) We lucked out with the weather Sept. 5-10’11 sunny every day, a bit windy at times but perfect for hiking in the morning and our hardest chore in the afternoons was repositioning the lounge chairs to stay in the sun for our relaxing reads. We took our own small propane Bbq as we didn’t want to deal / briquettes – only Bbq’d one night as we ended up going out for a 2:00ish lunch ... good burger/fries @ the Hummingbird Pub and tried the Marina Grill but too many wasps to really enjoy our point 5 lunch. We’re delighted with late evening visits from deer and laughed at the ‘vocals’ from the sea lions, sea otters were so cute but was somewhat disappointed to miss the whales. Would rate this beautiful home (not really a cabin) as a 9 as we couldn’t go swimming in the ocean right out front of the house (would be nice if they had a small walk out wharf) and would have been a 10 if there was a hot tub in the back yard. Great communication from the owner’s and will definitely book again. Thanks so much to Christine & Thomas for sharing their beautiful home. Was surprised to see Carol & Mel had their place up for sale, didn’t easily run into them so am hoping they are both OK. Take care & sending JOY your way, Margo & GuyRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We stayed here 10 years ago and still rave about it. Book, you'll find out.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Wow. Thank you so much. We have made some improvements since then- so it's even better. The great view and location are unchanged. Wildlife sightings seem more frequent- deer, otters, eagles, mink, seals and so on.

Looking at pictures and reading descriptions of vacation rentals over the internet can make one very sceptical. We figured if what we saw was 75% accurate, we would enjoy ourselves. Well, we were shocked! What we found was a beautiful and cozy home that had everything you would need for a short stay on this island. A fully equiped kitchen, nice furnishing, wood burning stove with plenty of wood, plenty of towels and toiletteries. Above all, the views were spectacular. It was everything we had wanted and went beyond our expectations. I would say that the only thing it was lacking was a propane BBQ, just a simple old fashioned type, which would require us to bring charcoal/lighting fluid, which we are too lazy these days to do, but they had fully disclosed that information ahead of time. This lovely place would be perfect for a small family or simply for a couple, like us. The value was outstanding and I would love to return to this perfect home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We thank our guest for his kind comments. It echoes what many of our other guests have written in our guest book at the house. We pride ourselves on cleanliness, comfort and good value so it's nice to have that recognized. Re the BBQ, we often do not meet our guests, who may or may not have children, so we are reluctant to have a propane BBQ with all the risk it entails.

Thank you for your beautiful, restful, healing spot of paradise. The swallow hatchlings are curious about the big outdoors. Their little heads peeking out. Eagles, herons , a seal, a gang of otters and a glimpse of a whale made for wonderful viewing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
