Review Submitted January 24, 2012 Date of Stay January 4, 2012 Aloha, The beach house was awesome. It was so nice to stay in a place with true hawaiin spirit. From the moment we arrived, I felt at home. After meeting kelly, patrick and the girls, it was like they were part of the family. They were so welcoming, helpful, and completely in tune with all we needed. I loved walking over the dune each morning, to find our beautiful beach. Watching the kite surfers, wind surfers, paddle boards and the doggies was so much fun. The only downfall was the traffic noises when sleeping, I live in an extremely quiet neighborhood though. I would definately come back to stay, and recommend it to all.

No tourist crowds on this side of the island! Kailua Cottage is perfection & gets you on the beach.

If you prefer the sounds of island life, palms rustling in the tradewinds, tropical birds and the WAVES, to the hum of re-circulated air, rent this quaint island cottage on the windward side, where you can walk to the market, a pristine beach perfect for kids and beginning body-surfing and Buzz's where you can have a garlic/parmesian artichoke and some cocktails. Pretty much the recipe for relaxation and vacation. The cottage has enough towels, bedding and amenities for a busy family of six, sand toys, boogie boards and loads of Aloha from the gracious owners. Bettah book it now brah!

This is the Place to Stay in Kailua

This is a great house. It has EVERYTHING you will need to have a great family vacation. The pictures do not do it justice. It is 50 feet from the beach and the owners are great. We spent several evenings hanging out with them and their friends. They are a LOT of fun. You will not be disappointed with this rental

My happy place ...

On days when the Universe is throwing curve balls, it's lovely to have a place I can travel in my imagination where life is just perfect. I actually have two: The cottage lanai, feeling the trade winds waft through screens, listening to the birds ... and walking on the most beautiful beach in the world ... and I have done extensive comparative beaching! This beach is just steps away from the lanai and my toes have their own memories of the sea grass & soft sand ... it's a slice of heaven. And the water ... OMG ... there is no other ocean like it, not the Bahamas ... no where else. I try to schedule my "home comings" when there will be a full moon because walking that beach under a hula moon is an experience to save in the memory box ... and I have a few in there now. The La'a's have provided my home-away-from-home for years now and I can't wait to return. Mahalo for all the wonderful aloha ... and giving me a happy place that I carry always. See you soon!

Exactly as described. So close to the beach and lots of toys for the kids. Spacioius and open. Everything you need and the beach is just beautiful. Kelly and her family are great. They help you with anything you need and are just those kind of people you wish you could live next door to.

My family had a great stay at this cottage. Kelly and her family were always available for any information or recommendations we needed, and were wonderfully gracious hosts. We were a large group -- me, my husband, our 3 kids and my mother -- and though we probably were as many people as would fit, we very comfortable in the cottage. And it's tough to beat a 30 second walk to the beach! We'll definitely be back and will recommend this cottage to our friends.

I highly recommend this house for a family that wants a more "authentic" Hawaii living experience than the Waikiki hotels. We lived on Oahu for 4 years, and return occasionaly. This time we came back with the children for a 2-week stay. The house had plenty of room, and everything we needed in terms of linens, towels, beach toys, etc. The owner was very friendly. The house was clean and only 1min from the beach on foot, with private off-street parking. We will almost certainly stay here again.

The cottage is nice, clean and well-kept. Even though it is the same yard as the owner's home, it has excellent privacy. We never heard Kelly or her family during our stay. The screened-in lanai offered a 2nd bedroom for our family. It also served as our dining room for the entire stay. The cottage is spacious for our family of four. The beach is a short walk away and it is great for kids. Kelly made us feel welcome and gave us great local advice. The cottage is a good value in accomodations. Try it and see for yourself!!! Niels

Kelly, Really enjoyed use of your cottage. As I stated to you it was nice to be able to come back to such ample living quarters to cook, clean our clothes, and head on out the next day. As you know we were gone quite alot because of the tradewinds on the windward side. Our daughter got stung one day and after that, when the winds were up, we moved across the island. There were a couple of days that the winds were calm and used the beach there at the cottage. I was quite impressed and really liked the beach. Spent a few days at Waikiki beach, as the kids really liked the protected walled area there near Oahu Ave and across from the Pacific Beach Hotel. We ate lunch one day there at the Oceanarium restaurant. We found the North shore quite pleasant at Wamiea Bay. Actually got to swim with a pod of dolphins there this past Friday. Thanks so much for the fruit upon our arrival. The mangos just seem to taste better in Hawaii. Our kids really enjoyed the shaved ice at Matsumono's there in the north shore. Take care and I wish you all the best.

I spent alot of time searching the internet for which town on Ohau to stay in and then which home to stay in . I must say my research really paid off. Kailua was the best spot on the island, While we were in Ohau we traveled the rest of the island which was beatiful as well but did not have the special feeling that Kailua had. The cottage was perfect it had everything we could have wanted and needed. The host were great and made us feel like it was our own home. The gardens were beautiful , I loved having my morning tea in the sun room and looking out at the gardens. The beach was right there, I even got to swim with a turtle in Kailua bay. I would stay in this cottage in an instant if we get the chance to go back. Thank you Kelly and family for the great memories. Grant, Debbie Sheena and Carissa. from the Seattle area

The Kailua Guest Cottage was a perfect family vacation for us. The friendliness of the owners and all of the neighbors made us feel as if we were locals during our stay. We will definitely be back for some more beach, play, and bbq La'a style. :)
