This is an 80 square meters family apartment on rue Linné near the metro JUSSIEU. It's on the 5th floor of a lime stone early 20th century building. There is an elevator and a beautiful wooden staircase.
The living room is large and full of Balinese and Laotian style furniture and cushions. This is where we relax or gather with friends for a chat and a drink. The dinner area fits 8 people comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped and has lots of crockery as we often invite friends over. The main bedroom has a bed for 2 persons, a large wardrobe and a working desk. If needed, it can also accept an additional comfortable single bed. The second bedroom overlooks the back courtyard and is very calm. It has a double bed which we store at the ceiling when not in use. With a counter weight system, it is easy to pull up and down.
If needed a comfortable sofa bed for 2 people, 2 sofa beds for one person are available and can be easily installed in the living room. The bathroom has a bath tub and a shower. The WC is separated.
The apartment has a very central location and has a very good transport connection : 100 meters to metro lines 7 and 10, 30 meters to buses 67 (direct bus to Montmartre) and 89 (direct bus to Montparnasse railway station)
- 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame, Ile Saint Louis, Jardin du Luxembourg, Mouffetard, Marais, Bastille etc.
- 12 minutes away by metro from Le Louvre, Palais Royal, Opera, Marais, Bastille.
3 open air food markets, bakeries, pastries shops, several supermarkets, biological shops, pharmacies are near by. We also have lots of restaurants for all budgets.

We could not have asked for more! We were 2 couples and we stayed for one week. The apartment was just as the photos and information represents it. it was comfortable and clean and Vilay Marchal was a gracious and kind host. She spent time orienting us to the area and answered all our questions when we arrived. Very helpful! A quiet neighborhood, centrally located and a block from the Metro station. From the Metro we travelled all over Paris. We loved the bakery across the street and every morning would get our baguette and rolls for a breakfast in our kitchen and on the balcony of jam, butter, bread and cheese. The little cafe, Le Cactus, just down the block was wonderful. Matthieu and his family, who owned the restaurant ,welcomed us and made us feel at home. We had a few meals there and the food was wonderful and reasonable. Many times we would stop in for a beer or wine late after our day of travels just to talk and enjoy them. One evening we walked from the apartment with a bottle of wine, some bread and cheese and sat on the banks of the Seine with Notre Dame lit up in the background and watched the people and boats going by. There was a small grocery store, Carefour, 2 blocks away with an entire aisle of French wines...Bordeaux, Burgundy, and more....prices started at 2 Euros a bottle and I never spent more than 6 Euros per bottle for some of the most wonderful wine. They also had chocolate....I recommend the Cote D'Or, Truffe, Noir (Dark Chocolate Truffle)...a couple bucks. I only brought 2 home...wish I had more! Who could ask for more? Thank you Vilay Marchal for letting us use your apartment. A perfect place for experiencing Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a grat stay at this apartment with my husband, my mother and my brother for 4 days last November. It is a very well located place, one block away from the metro station, with convenience stores, bakeries and drugstore right on the street. It is a quiet apartment, a few steps from the entrance of the Jardin des Plantes, a very beautiful park where the Paris zoo is located and a nice place to start the day with a walk or jog. It is within walking distance to many of Paris' main atractions. We really liked the social area (living room, dining room and kitchen), they are beautifully decorated, of good size and light and have a balcony. We arrived in Paris late at night, due to the heavy car trafic entering Paris, and the host's son was waiting for us at the apartment, very friendly and comprehensive, we really appreciated this. He speaks french, english and spanish! The host, Vilay, was very nice, the information she provided was of great use. We are very thankful with the help she personally provided to us with the many bags we had to carry to get to the metro when we checked out. We highly recommend this apartment for your stay in wonderful Paris...Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I enjoyed a marvelous 9 days in Paris in October of 2012, staying in this very comfortable and cozy apartment. We chose the location because it is easy to walk or take the metro everywhere, and it is very close to Rue Mouffetard (a fantastic street with many, many shops and restaurants). The owner was very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed very much getting to know her. For anyone wanting to experience living like a Parisian, this apartment is a wonderful way to go.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family (me, my wife, and two daughters ages 16 and 19 respectively) spent eight nights in this wonderful flat near the Jardin des Plantes. My brother, his wife, and his two young boys spent two nights with us. The apartment has a relatively large living room/dining room that comfortably accommodated all eight of us when we were together. It is open and airy, being on the 5th floor and having balconies along the street side of the flat. The sleeping arrangements are a bit tight for eight--there are really two private bedrooms, with the common area being large enough for four to sleep comfortably--but the space was fine for our purposes. The place really feels like someone's home, and that felt good to us. There are lots of books around, ranging from travel books to philosophy, and DVDs and music too. We took great advantage of the kitchen, which has everything one needs to cook just about anything, and the clothes washing machine. There is one toilet in the apartment, which could be tight for a larger group, but there is also a bathroom one floor up that guests can use (we didn't). The location is perfect if you like the Left Bank and want to be close to the action, but not right in it. You are blocks from Rue Mouffetard and its market, restaurant and shops. It is also only about 10-15 minutes' walk to Notre Dame and the St Michel area. There is a Metro station (Jussieu) just down the street and others on different routes within a few blocks. The RER trains are also easily accessed if you want to leave the city; we had a very easy trip to Versailles. Lastly, one could not ask for a more gracious and helpful host than Vilay Marchal. She provided us with much needed info prior to arrival, greeted us when we arrived, and provided sage advice along the way via email whenever we had questions. I would definitely return, either with my entire family again, or maybe next time with another couple and no kids(!).Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We spent 3 nights in this wonderful Latin quarter apartment. I appreciated Vilay's reponsiveness with information prior to our arrival and although she herself was out of the country, we were met promptly upon our arrival by her representative. The Apartment was exactly as advertized plus so much more. During our stay in Paris it was the only place we stayed that had comfortable beds and air conditioning. We were also thrilled to have free access to a computer and to international calling. Both of which we made good use of during our stay. I love the location of this apartment and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to spend time in the beautiful Latin quarter. Thank you Vilay for sharing your apartment with us. My daughters and I had a wonderful time there.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wonderful experience! The owner met us on arrival, showed us around, and had the place set up to accomodate all of us (including my 2 yr old - highchair). Great park just around the corner and lots of places to get fresh croissants and fruit nearby! Easy access to metro but also a great area to walk to a number of sites (ie. Luxumberg Gardens, Notre Dame, etc). The owner offered a Paris tour book with recommended places to eat and shop nearby (and also near the sites). In addition, she helped us book our taxi back to the airport. Apartment is definately the way to go (especially if you have a young family)! Thanks Vilay:)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family recently returned from a 3 week trip to Europe including a 3 night stay in Paris. The apartment in the Latin Quarter was exactly as described: spacious, clean, comfortable, and centrally located with convenient access to the subway, markets, restaurants and bakeries. Vilay is delightful and with her son Nayan gracious hosts. As opposed to other rentals which can be quite generic in furnishings, Vilay's apartment is truly a home with art on the walls, books on the shelves, an album collection and pictures of family in the frames. As such, we felt at home in this lovely apartment. I recommend it to all.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We are writing this review because of the wonderful experience that our family had both in renting the apartment and working/meeting Vilay, the owner. Our plan was to arrive in Paris on our son’s 15th birthday; in our planning we worked with Vilay to arrange for a cake and some bread for sandwiches (a good French loaf!) so that when we arrived at 9pm we could have a little birthday celebration – Vilay went beyond what was expected and arranged for an exquisite chocolate mousse cake and all the arrangements for a lovely meal – needless to say our son and rest of my family (9 of us total) were completely surprised and impressed. Thank you Vilay for giving us a memory we will never forget. As for the apartment – the location is perfect for walking to everything – first day we walked to Notre Dame along the Seine; Next day we walked to the Pantheon and enjoyed the Latin Quarter; one day we walked right across the street to the Museum of Natural History and gardens. There are grocery stores, cafes, and a wonderful bakery right outside the front door. The apartment was well furnished and had plenty of room for our family of four, our parents and niece and nephew. The furnishings are new, the bedding was very comfortable and it was quiet. if you choose this apartment - enjoy every minute of your stay - our family certainly did.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1981
About the owner: My name is Vilay. I love Paris especially the Latin Quarter. I live here since 1981 but I used to be a traveler once ! I will be glad to great you and give you useful tips to make your stay as nice as possible depending on your interests ! My 2 boys, Aloun 27 a professional dancer, Nayan 17 at his last high school year, grew up in this nice and safe neighbourhood.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 5:
We are located in the center of the ancient and most beautiful part of Paris, The Latin District. It has a beautiful and green environment with 3 main gardens : Jardin des Plantes at 50 meters, les Arênes de Lutèce the roman arenas at 50 metres, Jardin du Luxembourg at 10 minutes walk, Notre Dame and Bastille are at 10 minutes walk. We also have a very good transport connection : 2 metro lines (7 and 10) and Le Louvre or Opéra are at 12 minutes away by metro. It also has 2 bus lines which allows a direct connection to Bastille, Marais, Louvre or Montmartre.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We are located near the Campus of Jussieu. The neighbourhood is typically French, lively and cool. Lots of cafés, restaurants, street markets etc. The French writer Georges Perrec used to live at this address " 13 rue Linné " and Douglas Kennedy's novel "The woman in the fifth" took place here too. The apartment has a flowered balcony and a nice view. It's at 10 minutes walk to the Seine where you can stroll or jog or enjoy dancing rock and roll or Tango during the summer evenings or have a picnic there and visit the free open air sculpture museum.
