The Heceta House vacation rental is a lovely and comfortable home within walking distance to Heceta Beach. The top level of this house is a "surf shack" style room, where you can sit and read the day away and watch the ocean.
There is a wonderfully whimsical room for children with an undersea mural painted on the wall and a bunk bed in the shape of a boat. And two additional bedrooms both with queen beds. Relax in the upstairs master suite which has claw foot tub and second TV/DVD. Open the windows and let the sounds of the sea rock you to sleep. Main house has 2 bedrooms plus kids' loft, detached studio cottage(at additional cost) has an additional queen bed, TV/DVD and mini-fridge.
Sit and enjoy the company of family and friends next to the fireplace, enjoy walks to the beach, or come visit the quaint shops and restaurants in Old Town Florence.

My wife and I rented this house for 3 nights. We were very pleased with the openness of the house. It was rustic from the outside and fairly modern on the inside. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were well stocked. The cleaning service was very skilled and included some very nice touches like chocolates on the pillows and dining room table. This was a great house to use as a base for playing in the area, or just cocooning up and watching some 298680 in front of the fireplace. You will want to bring your own wood. For us it was a magical place, and we will be coming back again.

We LOVED this rental!!! Sure, when I first saw the "tug boat bed" I immediately booked it for our two grandsons!! SOO fun for them!! I didn't take time to read if it would accomodate all of us and it didn't. That was my fault. One quick call to the 24 hr. service and we had the pass code for the fishermans cabin. Problem sloved. We LOVED the character and charm of this place and I felt as if each floor board, door and hinge had it's own story! The openess of it was fine for all of us, even tho it IS a quirky lay out.Next time we will be a little more prepared now that we know the lay out. We cannot wait to go back SOON! We didn't care that the plates don't match! It was CLEAN and peaceful. What more could a family want?

We were so disappointed in this property! We joined with friends and had two families of four at this house for four days, and our first complaint is the advertised number this house sleeps. There is no way this sleeps eight. At best it sleeps six. The other two would have to squeeze on a very old couch sofa. We were so glad we brought an air mattress, just in case. Additionally, the rooms did not have privacy. The loft makes the wall into the bedrooms open, and the stair case goes right through the upper room. There was also only one shower for 8 people. When we arrived, the hot tub was so dirty. We complained, and when they cleaned it, they did not add treatment to it; it was just clear water. By the fourth day, it was not usable again, and it wasn't usable the first day. Finally, I was very annoyed at the "fully stocked kitchen," which it was not. It would have been an upgrade if they furnished from the Dollar Store. The amenities ranged from plastic Halloween glasses (and it was July) to a rusty can opener. There was barely enough combined for a setting for 8. From the smell to the lack of privacy to the lack of basic furnishings and uncomfortable, not private, accommodations, we were so disappointed. I would not recommend this property.

Owner response: To our future renters. Our home does sleep 8 with a sleeper sofa. But we also do rent out the additional cottage for extra sleeping room. Part of the character of the house is the loft bedroom for children. With fantastic mural and boat shaped bunk beds. There are two bathrooms, one does have a shower and the other contains a antique claw foot tub for relaxing in. If ever there is an issue with the hot tub or there are any other problems we have 24 hour answering service where we aim to fix whatever problem there may be in a timely fashion. The owner of this home has worked very hard to build a beautiful place to share with others..It is our aim that our guests have an experience that they will never forget, and want to make this home a place to return to year after year. Please refer to the positive responses by satisfied clients.

This was a wonderful home with plenty to do around. My family and I rented the main house and fisherman's cottage. The home had plenty to offer and I would recommend this vacation home to all my family and friends. The view from the crows nest was wonderful and my son enjoyed sleeping up there and waking up to the sound of the ocean. This is a family friendly home.

Cute Little Home
Cute Little Home
The house is nice and cosy. Will fit 2 couples and 2 kids very well. The house was fully furnished. The owners were great in accomedating us when we needed more room. The Fishermans cottage does not come with the house and we were under the assumption that it did but when we called they were great about helping us rent it. We also came after a very horrible storm but there is only enough parking for 2 vehicles. No RV/Trailer parking. We couldn't use the hot tub the first night because it was still cold and you need to be very careful getting to it. 3 people slipped and hurt themselves. The pictures make the house bigger then it is. We had a fun time on the beach and at the Dunes. If we were not there to go to the Dunes this would be the perfect house. I would recommend they do something about the hot tub area and it also it has a charcoal BBQ not a gas. The house is very nicely decorated inside.

Ahhh....what a wonderful, cozy home. We went with two families and had such a lovely, restorative time. We enjoyed the area so much and couldn't wait to get back to the house after a day of adventuring. We loved that the house felt like a home rather than a vacation rental, it's clear how much the owners love their beach getaway--We'll be back soon!

We can't wait to go back!!
We can't wait to go back!!
This place has everything one could need in a vacation rental; It's charming, comfortable, clean, spacious and the owner has thought of everything when it comes to what guests need for a great stay. We have taken the kids, who talk about it endlessly and my partner and I have gone for a quiet weekend--it works great for both. Florence is such a fun little spot, we found secret trails to the beach called the "hobbit trails" --amazing!! The old fashioned little down-town area is full of fun shops and our kids couldn't get enough of the beach. We have reserved it for whale-watching this winter and can't wait to go back.
