A beautiful mountain estate over looking the trails at Burke Mt. Ski area, 5000+ sq ft home sleeps 12 plus in 5 bedrooms. Vaulted ceilings open floor plan, huge stone fireplaces, loads of windows with Kodak moment views everywhere you look. Modern kitchen with all utensils, huge dining room connected to kitchen with views overlooking the mountains. Large screen TV's, Master bedroom with Jacuzzi bath, TV, stereo and stone fireplace.
House has multiple decks with outdoor grills. There are 25 Acres of lawns and perennial gardens with your own private stocked trout pond/swimming pond with golden trout, swim float and koi. Ten minutes to skiing, snowmobiling, white water kayaking, and the most beautiful lake in the world, Lake Willoughby.

Just got back from a long weekend at the 70s house. There were ten of us (couples and singles) in our early thirties who came to enjoy the Burke mountain area for a weekend of skiing. The house is very open and large. There are five comfortable rooms, all with queen beds except for one with two twin beds. The house also has three full bathrooms, which was nice for a big group. The house has a very cool (somewhat retro) vibe with huge vaulted ceilings and nice hardwood floors. The main woodstove in the huge living room was a great feature. We also loved the enormous dining room table and sectional sofa which seated all of us! The kitchen is pretty big and pretty well stocked, though the electric stove and rather invasive hood weren't the easiest to work with. Plenty of linens for beds and baths. The basement game room was fun and it was nice to have a washer and dryer. Overall, we would definitely come back for another (pretty affordable) weekend! Burke is a wonderful ski area as well with cool terrain and few crowds despite the small size. A hot tub would put this house among my favorite that we have rented in New England, but there is not one (though there is a small jacuzzi bath tub in the master). Also, I wouldn't recommend this house for little children as there is a spiral staircase and lots of level changes that might make it difficult to keep everyone safe.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house is BIG. Very open floor plan, with huge living room. Dining area accommodated 10 of us easily. Kitchen has a awkward floor plan, with refrigerator door, when open, blocking entrance. Kitchen was well stocked; coffee maker a big plus. Bedrooms are spacious and well ventilated, although the fitted sheets were bigger than the beds and disturbed sleep as they got twisted up. Linens and bath towels were plentiful. Bathrooms are also spacious. The two upstairs bedrooms and bath are accessed by a spiral staircase. The master suite is secluded on the far end of the house. The basement is useable only for ping pong and laundry and is dingy. The views and grounds, including a swimming/fishing pond are fantastic. We played whiffle ball, touch football, and fished, swam, and kayaked in the pond. The deck, with grill, was well used. It is 14 miles to Lyndonville and grocery shopping, but this was no hindrance. There were some maintenance issues that we directed to the owner and they were addressed quickly. Operating the T.V. was difficult at times. The connections, remotes, and boxes need to be synchronized better. More supplies needed to be on hand (paper towels, dish soap, T.P., bath soap), but these were also taken care of quickly. We stayed for two weeks, so some extra garbage cans would have helped, as well as some bins for the recyclables. The house needs a few upgrades, but its size and setting were perfect for our group. This is a more remote part of Vermont, but that's the beauty of it. Wildlife is readily spotted (we saw moose and bear), and the scenery is terrific. For you golfers, don't miss St. Johnsbury Country Club. Great course and inexpensive. Fishing in the lakes requires a boat or you can fish the streams. And Susan's pie shack in North Danville is a must (we went back 5 times). Note: the bicycing, road and mountain, can't be beat. The roads need repaving, but the various routes are numerous, scenic, and have low traffic. The Kingdom Trails offer over 100 miles of off-road trails and there is a plethora of dirt roads to explore.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
