Ocean Club Villas (in which our condo is located) is the premier condo (villa) complex in the up-market gated community of Wild Dunes, a Beach, Golf, and Tennis resort a short drive north and east of Charleston, SC. A highly respected property management company gives this unit its highest rating, “platinum”, the only platinum rating in Ocean Club.
But despite the deluxe decor, expensive furnishings and the original art, our guests tell us that they find our unit comfortable, cozy, and “family friendly”. And they tell us that the view from our third floor balcony….of the 18th green of the signature Links Golf Course and of the Atlantic Ocean only a few feet behind the green…. that view, they say, is “astonishing”. The unit is laid out so that its living room, the master bedroom, and the balcony all share the ocean views.
A few yards behind the 18th green, a long, gently sloping, uncrowned and unspoiled stretch of beach welcomes swimmers, beachcombers, bicycle riders, readers relaxing, and generations of young dreamers who build castles in the sand. Late in the afternoon, when it’s time to come in from the beach, the sunlight sparkles on the ocean just a four iron from cocktails on the balcony, and the ancient murmur of the Atlantic sounds as peaceful and soothing as a lullaby. The sand castles will vanish overnight, but memories of this happy place and happy time will last a lifetime.
When the sun sets, and it’s time to come in for dinner, have no regrets. The day will end well, for appointments in the living room include Tommy Bahama fabrics and furnishings, and a Theater Wide Toshiba LCD television.
The Open Plan Kitchen is well stocked with all the implements needed to prepare a quick sandwich or a gourmet feast. Appliances include a Sub Zero paneled side by side refrigerator, a Dacor glass top Range with a Convection and Conventional oven, a built in Dacor Microwave, Bosch Dishwasher, Scottsman Ice Maker and a generous supply of China, Glassware, and Cutlery. The laundry is outfitted with a top-of-the-line Maytag Washer and Dryer with Digital Controls.
Long Distance Phone Service for the United States and Canada is provided FREE. Password Protected High Speed Wireless Internet Access is also FREE. There are telephones in the living room, kitchen, and in all three bedrooms. The unit is Heated and Cooled by a new Carrier High Efficiency Two Stage Heat Pump.
The Master Suite's extra comfortable King Bed is equipped with Fine Linens and Bedding. The large sliding door that leads from the master bedroom to the Balcony has Decorator Window Treatments. There is a Sharp Aquos Television with DVD/VCR. A large Dressing Room adjoins the master bedroom, accessible from the bathroom area.
The Master Bath has a Granite Counter Top with Dual Sinks, Italian Stone Floors in warm colors, a large Jacuzzi Tub, and a Dual Head Walk-In Shower (Large Enough for Two Adults) with Delta Shower heads and dual Delta Auxiliary Horizontal Water Jets.
Each Guest Room has Custom Bedding and Window Treatments, plus Tiled Baths with Upgraded Linens.
In Guest Room 1 (The Islands Room) there is a comfortable Queen Bed and an Aquos TV, plus a DVD/VCR.
Guest Room 2 (The Room of the Sailors) has both a comfortable Queen Bed and Twin Bunk Beds.
Ocean Club Villas is located at the northern (easterly) end of the Wild Dunes community. Entrance to the Wild Dunes community is through a Security Gate that is staffed 24 hours a day. The entrance to the Ocean Club Villa complex is protected by a second Security Gate, staffed during daytime hours and accessible by a keypad with a security code at other times. Access to the Ocean Club Pool Area is by a keypad with a security code.
The large Ocean Club Pool, Poolside Hot Tub, and Poolside Barbecue Areas are about 150 feet from the condo. For Cookouts by the Pool, there are large Charcoal Grills, as well as a Preparation Bar and large Tiled Sink Area. From the pool area, a walk on an Elevated Boardwalk of 150 feet, more or less, leads to the Beach. Two Elevators serve 4304, each no more than 100 feet from our condo's door.
My wife and I call this special castle-by-the-sea “Chez Circe”, Circe’s home. (Circe was that irresistible Greek goddess who almost made Odysseus forget that he was very late for dinner. “Circe” is also a pun on “Sur Sea” (by or on the sea). And “surcie” is southern vernacular for “an unexpected but welcome little gift”. For us, time spent Chez Circe is all three.)
We hope you will choose to enjoy a “week out of time” at Chez Circe this summer or this fall. (Please check the calendar for availability.) And we hope that the warmth of your summer memories will sustain you, and those you love, long after you have returned home from this special “surcie”, a place of play, and fun, and joy.

When I first read about this condo online, I thought it sounded too good to be true, as some of our previous online rentals have turned out. But this beautiful condo fulfills its promise - if possible it looks even better in person than on the internet. When we arrived it felt like we were in beautiful, luxurious accommodations yet at the same time it felt like home. It is immaculate (and I am very picky), beautifully decorated, comfortable and has what I would say if the best view of any of the properties we have rented at Wild Dunes over the last 20 years. It is fully equipped in all regards - kitchen, linens, even laundry. The owners have recently added a big 60" tv in the living room which we really enjoyed. Speaking of the owners, Charlie and Sheila made the booking very easy and were very responsive to our questions beforehand. Charlie forwarded a guide book to us in advance which included information on how to operate everything in the condo, tips on what to do while at Wild Dunes, and dining selections there and in Charleston. We did not have to call them once during our stay because of the details that were included. Because we have been visitors to Wild Dunes for many years, we have our "favorites" in terms of restaurants, but we did try two of Charlie's suggestions and they were yummy. The first one is Page's Okra Grill in Mount Pleasant - a local and delicious spot for Sunday brunch and breakfast. I recommend the Shem Creek Omelet and if you love southern food, the pimento cheese sandwich with bacon and fried green tomatoes. And they make the best "Virgin Mary" if you like spicy! The other recommendation was for Pearlz in Charleston on E. Bay St. We took Charlie's advice and went for the happy hour - reduced price drinks and appys - loved the oysters, mussels, grouper sliders and chips! Thanks Charlie for getting us out of our routine! Overall, despite some non-cooperative weather, repair work being done on the outside of the building which involved riveting, and my husband having to be on numerous conference calls from work, it was a great vacation due in large part to these lovely accommodations! I could sit out on the balcony all day! We all hope we can visit again in the future!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Andrea, Folks like you guys make sharing Chez Circe with "friends we don't yet know" a real joy for Sheila and me. Sorry about the weather but it was worse.... much, much worse.... in the northeast where we spent the week shivering and wet. I'm delighted you tried Okra Grill and Pearlz, both no big deal but lots of fun. And I'm delighted you were comfortable Chez Circe. Lastly, thanks so much for your very kind remarks. Best regards. Please return, Charlie

In the South, a "surcie" is a gift...and this house is truly a gift. We love Wild Dunes but a hard time finding the perfect spot. We came upon Chez Circe three years ago and have rented every year since. The homeowner's have absolutely exceeded our expectations; answering every question thoroughly. After the intial reservation was made, the homeowner continued to fill me in regarding the villa and also included new and exciting information about Wild Dunes and the surrounding area in terms of restaurants, recreation and other community information. The villa itself is perfectly decorated, immaculately clean and large enough for our family. Down to the organized informational binder, there is no stone left unturned. The location is absolutely perfect. Besides the fun, food and surf, we were even entertained on a rainy day watching the wild deer feed right off of our veranda! We look forward to renting this property for many years to come and absolutely recommend it to all!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our family had a good vacation on isle of palms. We enjoyed the ocean views and proximity to the beach, that this condo provides. It is a lovely property and is well represented on the website. The owners are very thorough and helpful. We took an eco harbor tour from the marina nearby, and would recommend for families.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

We enjoyed swimming by day and watching the first week of the Olympics by night. This place definitely "gets the gold" in terms of places to stay on the IOP. My concern when traveling to SC is always the bugs. During our stay I can say this was not AT ALL an issue. This place was pristine, inside and out in the grounds. The pool and pool area are very well maintained (we saw them cleaning it every morning) and it is busy but never feels too crowded. There were a lot of families and children of all ages. We recalled the summers of our youths as we listened to various games of "Marco Polo" and "Sharks and Minnows" throughout the week. The proximity and access to the beach is wonderful. There is a full boardwalk with both a ramp and stairs down to the beach - no slogging through loose sand carrying all your bits - it was fantastic. This area of the beach also seemed less crowded. It was great for a nice walk or run in the morning as well as lounging and swimming during the afternoon. There are also luggage and shopping carts to help ease the burden of loading and unloading your belongings. The view is incredible and it is amazing to be able to enjoy it both inside and out on the patio. The linens are excellent. The sheets are soft and the towels are too. Sometimes in vacation rentals the towels tend to be a bit "institutional" feeling. Not the case here they are plush and lovely. The kitchen is very well equipped though we didn't do that much cooking. The whole unit is furnished in a way that is very comfortable and relaxing. The pictures are a very accurate depiction of it. The window coverings do a great job of keeping the Master Bedroom dark for those mornings when you want to sleep in a bit. For all of the people that were on the property we were surprised how quiet it was. Not a lot of noise from overhead, other units or in the hallways. I think it is great that people respect the rules about loud music out on the balconies, smoking, etc. It ensures everyone has a good time. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and everyone I know. The Lords were responsive and helpful. This was a last minute trip for us and they were fantastic in making sure we were able to enjoy our week of vacation in a beautiful, comfortable and clean accommodation. We finally got to try Husk in downtown Charleston, which was great and Taco Mamacita's in Sullivan's Island is always a favorite for us - love the Mexican street corn!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We've stayed at Wild Dunes for many, many years and these accommodations were by far our favorite. Beautiful view of the green and beach, wonderful decor and perfectly appointed condo---we had everything we needed. Everything was accurately described --- kitchen, linens, towels, etc. beyond our expectations. Highly recommend this home away from home!Owner response: We love it, Stephen, when folks like you and Courtney find the beauty we see "Chez Circe", partidularly when they have a geat week with their kids as you did. And I smile when I think of your kids naming one of our deer (they only show themselves to nice folks like you guys) "John", as in, of course, John Deere. Best regards, best wishes, and per your email, you're on the calendar.... same week next summer! Charlie & Sheila

Amazing trip, Charles was by far the most amazing hostess we have ever dealt with. This girl’s trip was by far exceeding our expectations. We have been staying at Wild Dunes for over 20 years; this will be the only condo we rent going forward. Excellent location, right across from the golf club house, gated community, amazing view, and the best part - the condo is beyond five stars. Plush...extremely high quality linens, towels, decor is very creative, right down to the soaps, laundry detergent, books, etc. Read the other reviews, this is the only condo you will want to rent on the Isle of Palms/Wild Dunes. Thank you Charles, we look forward to keeping in touch over the years. Will hopefully rent again from you this fall or next spring.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Andrea, You and your mom (I haven't spoken on the phone with your baby daughter yet but she's a little too young for a chat).... you folks are the kind of people who make sharing a great place so much fun for us. We love "Chez Circe", 4304 Ocean Club, and obviously you do to. Thanks, Andrea, to you three "girls" for being the perfect guests. And please "don't be strangers, heah now!". Best regards and many thanks, Charlie & Sheila

We rented Charlie's condo the first week in Oct. The weather was beautiful and was matched by the condo. Totally top of the line! The view was outstanding. We watched more sunrises than we have in many years. The descriptions were accurate with location, appearance, and amenities. Charlie provides detailed information on everything including restaurant ideas. The only things we thought were missing were beach chairs. However, on our last day we noticed there were some in the laundry room. We enjoyed exploring Charleston, eating good food, walking on the beach, bicycling, golfing, and having drinks on the balcony looking out over the beautiful ocean. We would definitely recommend this experience to others.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
