A wonderful Santa Fe retreat

Guest: Swissie (Philadelphia, PA)
Date of Stay: 11/01/11 Review Submitted: 01/04/12

I concur with all the other reviewers. This casita is divine. Itnis in a lovely quiet neighborhood yet accessible within 5 minutes to the plaza. It is clean, amazingly well appointed(you don't need to bring a thing except your clothes), charming, perfectly maintained. We spent 9weeks here and hated to go. Bobbie is delightful and always ready with a smile and advice when you need it. Her two lovely dogs, Pinto and Domino, are adorable. I wish I didn't have to go home! Even more, I wish I can return someday soon.

Adjectives fail re this wonderful property....description found on VRBO site almost pales in comparison to actually experiencing it in real time. The property, as promised, IS sunny/clean...beyond charming....very well maintained and a better base camp would be impossible to find. We did MANY day trips...don't miss Bandelier...simply bewitching. If you're enamoured by sandhill cranes, the over-wintering birds at the NWR....Apache del Bosque...Bosque del Apache....as close to a Platte experience as you could hope for...truly awe-inspiring...'specially just after dawn. The enchanted circle Taos way was a great overnight adventure...as were Abiqiui and Ghost Ranch & environs. The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge and the Very Large Array were highlights, too. As for Old Santa Fe/The Plaza....it fulfilled every expectation. If you like hiking.....the casita can't be beat...SO many options. Last but not least... driving in/out of the quiet neighborhood serves up views of the surrounding mountains which cannot help but reinforce the magic of the area. After dark, one can even see the lights of Old Santa Fe twinkling from the kitchen window of the casita. This vacation rental truly one of a kind...HUGE bonus given the very reasonable fee....and our hostess, so very helpful yet unobtrusive....you'll feel you've known her forever....truly. Her faithful 4-legged companion, Domino, pretty special in HER own right, too. Thanx, Bobbie !

Everything and More

Guest: Bobbi (High Falls, NY)
Date of Stay: 08/16/10 Review Submitted: 11/03/10

The listing here can't really give a clear picture of just how comfortable, well-appointed, thoughtfully designed and perfectly located El Pequeno Nido is. A short walk to a running, walking path; a short, easy drive (like 3 miles) to the Plaza and other downtown centers, everything you want or need in a house to make a long stay comfortable and homey. It made us rethink some of the design of our own home. Esthetically pleasing with a charming personality. Not to mention our host, who is there when you need her and invisible when you don't. A lovely neighborhood. And the house is environmentally wonderful. We were there for a month in Aug-Sept and never needed the cooling system. Just wonderful. We will make it our Santa Fe home whenever our schedule matches availability.

A Great Introduction to a Spectacular City

Guest: Santa Fe retirees (Santa Fe NM)
Date of Stay: 05/01/10 Review Submitted: 06/11/10

As recent retirees to Santa Fe we will always treasure the time spent at El Pequeno Nido. What a wonderful introduction to the city ! The casita is beautifully furnished and decorated in the Santa Fe style. It is clean, cozy and perfectly located in a top-notch neighborhood. The owner was always available to ensure that we had everything we needed, and she provided us with many helpful suggestions. The owner takes her job as an innkeeper very seriously and enjoys sharing her beautiful home with others. It was the perfect place to settle in when we arrived in the city.

Summer Stay

My time spent in the City of Difference was made so much more enjoyable by staying in the well-appointed guesthouse at El Pequeno Nido. Wonderful ambiance with everything provided for my comfort level. I always felt at home during my long 6 months stay enjoying the quite atmosphere and easy access to all locations of interest. Ms Cohen always provided helpful assistance when it became necessary to further my experience during the summer stay. The saying “ I will be back “ holds very true for me regarding the El Pequeno Nido guesthouse and the City of Difference.

I can recommend this charming casita even higher as it met all of my expectations and then some! The property is conveniently located in a quiet, rural, residential setting a mere 10 minutes from Santa Fe's Historic Plaza. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable in all seasons and the owner's attention to detail ensures that you truly will feel this is "your home away from home!"

Beyond perfect

Guest: Tooky (Rhinebeck, NY)
Date of Stay: 01/28/10 Review Submitted: 03/29/10

Most people think they want to be "within walking distance to the Plaza"- which might be true if you plan on mostly shopping, and eating right in town. For a longer stay, or if you like some nature close by, this is an absolutely perfect casita. I looked at many possible rentals right in town, and found them tiny, expensive, and dark- and with no privacy. 8 minutes to the Plaza, and 6 minutes to the good nearby mall (good groceries, P.O., movies, office store, restaurants, bank etc.) this casita has walking trails right out the door for a perfect 45 minute leg stretch. The casita is sunny, beautifully but informally furnished, well laid out, and totally comfortable. The kitchen is full sized and well equipped- although I found eating out so fun and delicious why cook? The bedrooms are comfortable- with plenty of pillows and bedding, and lots of closet space. A private, fenced patio has some outdoor seating facing south, and a hot tub. Not much better after a day of hiking and exploring than lying under the stars in that hot tub! I was here for 3 months- and found the location better than I had anticipated. Easy access to the bypass to Albuquerque, and just a few miles south of the opera and the route north to Tesuque, Taos, Ojo Caliente, Bandelier, etc. It is quiet and private, with pinon and juniper all around-- yet so close to downtown! The landlord is responsive, relaxed, responsible and friendly. I had no problems of any kind during my stay- except leaving. I kind of hate to write such a great review---I want the place to myself!
