AMAZING GETAWAY

Guest: Jonathan (Florence, SC)
Date of Stay: 05/04/12 Review Submitted: 05/10/12

Spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend with 4 families at Pine Hollow. The house is incredible and tucked away from the world but still in close proximity to downtown Asheville and The Biltmore. The Frellicks made the planning and prep for the weekend so easy and everything was waiting for us upon our arrival. There were 5 kids under 3 (and 2 on the way) in our group and the house and emenities were perfectly suited for them. We all were able to spread out in our own parts of the house, but still come together for meals in the enormous and well-appointed kitchen. The deck was great for evening meals and socializing after the kids had gone to bed. We will definitely be returning to a Yonder property, if not Pine Hollow, on our future trips to Asheville. Thanks again.

We recently stayed at this property with 4 families. The home is so spacious that every family had their own corner of the house to spread out in. It was wonderful. The kitchen, main room, outdoor space, and deck facing the mountain were great. Also convenient to downtown Asheville. We also took a drive to Chimney Rock. Had lots of fun! Thanks!!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was exactly as described and the owners were very helful. Upon arriving we were pleased to see Christmas decorations. We didn't expect that at all. I was most impressed with the kitchen, it is nice for a house that sleeps so many to have enough dishes and silverware for everyone to use. We were a group of 15 and cooked all our meals except for the 1st night where we took the owners suggestion of the pizza place across form the Ingles. (very good pizza!) The property was clean and there was even firewood. We all agreed we would definately recommend this place to anyone who has a large group. We may even revisit during another season some time. Good times!

Our stay at Pine Hollow was made special by the owners as they did all they could to accommodate our wishes for the holidays. We enjoyed the great room and gathered around the wonderful stone fireplace numerous times to talk and read and enjoy family. The kitchen had just about everything you could want. The bedrooms were simply done with warm and soft bedding. There were also plenty of bathrooms. The location was beautiful. Everything into consideration we would easily say it was a perfect and super get away with all amenities right at our finger tips. There are great places to eat in Asheville, the Biltmore house tour was spectacular and the Gingerbread competition at the Grove Park in was wonderful. We loved our stay.

We had a group of 15 or so stay in the home - all extended family. It's a lovely house, equipped with everything you may need - toys for kids of all ages, games, many movies, and plenty of cookware and kitchen tools! Also, the home is situated in a beautiful area - we were able to go for runs and long walks, while also not being too far from shopping, entertainment and grocery stores. I highly, highly recommend staying here. The owners are wonderful, and the house was just perfect.

This house is amazing right down to the heated floor in one of the bathrooms upstairs. Lots of room, location is breathtakingly beautiful and the kitchen is a chefs dream. The entertainment room is huge and you could roast marshmallows over the firepit on the back deck. Very nice get away from the hustle and bustle. Great get away for our women's retreat. Loved the fireplace with all its rocks. Just a beautiful house with all the amenities. Thanks Steve for treating us so well....even if we had a Goldielocks in the group ha ha.

We had a great time relaxing with 13 women. The setting is breath taking. The access to Asheville and all the town has to offer was fantastic! There were some maintenance issues that needed attention. But in no way did these issues take away from our stay. Must dos in the Asheville area include The Cove, Biltmore Estate, and eating at Piazza! I look forward to returning and experiencing more of what Asheville and Western Carolina has to offer!

Pine Hollow was a wonderful, beautiful mountain house! It's tucked away in the wilderness, but also close to Asheville, which was just what we were looking for. The house is HUGE and there's tons of privacy since the rooms and bathrooms are all so spread out. The homeowners are extremely helpful and worked with our timeline for checkin and checkout, and offered lots of recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. I highly recommend!

Bringing our family together for a week in the summer has been a tradition for the past 9 years. Without a doubt, our stay at Pine Hollow was the best to date. The owners were extremely helpful in answering my long list "interview" questions regarding the property and it's amenities. The house was even nicer than the pictures revealed and it was obvious the homeowners took pride in the presentation. The 8 children LOVED the swimming hole and had lots of fun jumping of the dock. It was amazing how much space the house offered - plenty of places to gather as well as spots to have some alone time. Cooking nightly meals was a delight in the well arranged kitchen and the spacious laundry room allowed us gals to gather and chat. I already miss my morning coffee on the deck with lovely vistas. We enjoyed the nearby Botanical gardens and of course the Biltmore Estates is a must see. Our crew of 18 have wonderful new memories and we're thankful to have found such a welcoming home.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pine Hollow. We had our small wedding reception there and had plenty of room to host our family for the week. The house is perfectly set up for entertaining a family and is set on a beautiful mountain overlooking a lovely pond. The covered back porch was a great place to watch evening thunder storms roll in over the mountains and nighttime firefly displays lit up the back yard. The landscaping and Coy (sp?) fish pond were a nice touch outside the walk out basement. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment and dishes and we very much appreciated the calm, peaceful and uncluttered home decor. Also, the owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions or concerns we had throughout our stay.

We used Pine Hollow for a family reunion and found the large country home to be perfect for our needs. There were 4 families and each had their own roomy bedroom suite. The kitchen was outstanding and was very well equipped allowing us space for family meals. Even though the weather didn't fully cooperate (a bit gray and rainy) the welcoming fireplace and lots of games, CDs, and books and large gathering areas gave us plenty to do. The house is also not far from Asheville and the Biltmore. The house was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had before our arrival. We would definitely recommend this property to others seeking a large home in the Asheville area.

Most comfortable experience

Guest: Allyson (Wilson, NC)
Date of Stay: 02/18/11 Review Submitted: 02/20/11

An excellent home with PLENTY of space for my group of 14 friends. Amenities were top-notch with all the comforts of home plus a little extra. Plush, inviting and relaxing setting that made the weekend getaway a dream. Welcoming owners that were the epitome of hospitality and did everything to make our stay the best it could possibly be. We all agreed, it felt more like staying at a friend's house and less like staying at a rental house. Can't wait to go back!

Owner response:The experience we had with Allyson and her group epitomized the perfect relationship between owners & guests. As true VRBO "owners", we handle every aspect of the process ourselves; we book, we communicate, we market, we clean & we provide the welcoming environment for our guests. Thus it is affirming when we have guests like Allyson who both enjoy and respect our house, and show this by leaving the home in as nice a condition as when they arrived, following the rules, and doing the little things at checkout that make all the difference in the world to us! We love opening up our home to our guests, and take great pride in providing an exceptional experience for all of our guests. Fortunately, Allyson's group represents the vast majority of our guests, & thus this whole VRBO/HomeAway venture is well worth the time & effort, and brings us an immense feeling of pride, enrichment, and gratitude! Thank you, & we look forward to serving you!!

In addition to all of the amenities, the owners are kind and easy to work with. This is truly an ideal retreat for friends and family. I want to return again and again!

Wonderful stay for offsite meeting

Guest: Katie (Knoxville, TN)
Date of Stay: 01/10/11 Review Submitted: 01/18/11

We recently rented Pine Hollow for four of us from our company to do an offsite planning meeting. We had a great time in Asheville and at Pine Hollow specifically. We cooked dinner together as a teambuilding experience, enjoyed planning meetings in front of the fireplace, and marveled at the beautiful scenery covered in snow the days we were there. The house itself lends itself to groups as there are 6 bedrooms. (4 on the second floor, 1 on the main floor, and 1 in the basement). It would be a great getaway for some couples/families as well. The house is as beautiful as the photos look!

We had our annual Thanksgiving family get together here and it was the perfect setting for everyone! Enough room so everyone could 'escape' but intimate enough in the great room, kitchen and downstairs TV room for all to gather for dinner, football and late nights around a fire (inside or out). Close enough to airports (Charlotte and Knoxville options), the great town of Ashville, the Biltmore and so much more. Recommend highly!

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful home with a group of friends for a long weekend. It couldn't have been better! The home was a perfect getaway - a secluded setting with spectacular views, but downtown Asheville was only about 10 minutes away. The living room and kitchen were well appointed and cozy, yet very spacious. We especially enjoyed the huge porch and outdoor dining area. This was by far the best vacation rental experience we've ever had - the home was very clean and well-organized, and it was perfect for what we had in mind. We'll definitely be visiting again next fall.

Well equipped kitchen, tons of towels, lots of amenities. The lawn was big enough for our croquet set, we hiked in the mountains, we ate in Asheville. Even the weather was perfect. We stayed at Pine Hollow for a friends "stay-cation" get away. All of us live in Western North Carolina, and choose to stay local for our get-away. Three couples enjoyed the serene setting in this beatuifully furnished and very comfortable home for a quiet relaxing break. The kitchen was very well outfitted, which suited us fine as we stayed in and cooked the whole time (grilled out on the big deck too!) The location was very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, downtown Asheville and Biltmore. It was very clean and ready to enjoy the moment we pulled in the drive. We look forward to next time we can stay there again! Next time we'll bring more people as it is very spacious.

I am a local realtor and I always recommend the Frellick home because I know my clients will be and are always so pleased. This home feels like a home and not a vacation rental. Quality built Timber Frame by one of Asheville’s leading builders and tastefully decorated by his talented wife. The location of only 10 minutes to downtown Asheville is just as wonderful as being in this home and having the mountain experience. If you looking for the “best” you found it.

My family of five spent a week in August in this lovely home and it exceeded our expectations. We have three young children and they had so much fun in the bedroom lofts and the huge backyard which includes a large pond with a dock, swingset, trampoline and small beach near the pond. The back deck is so serene and pleasant that we opted to eat outside for every meal. There is also a tranquil waterfall/coy pond outside of the master bedroom which makes sleeping a peaceful experience. We can't wait to come back and highly recommend this house for family retreats. It easily fit our family of five, and could accommodate up to three families with no problem for space.

We stayed at Pine Hollow for a week-long extended family vacation. There were fifteen of us ranging in age from 14 to 70 + and the house felt spacious and quiet. The large living/kitchen area was great for meals and time together, yet there were many cozy, appealing corners to hide out in. The house is about a ten-minute drive from the center of Asheville, up a quiet road. The property was very clean and well-maintained, although our numbers did tax the septic system. The owners responded quickly, though. We had a wonderful time exploring Asheville's quirky galleries, bookstores and restaurants and had several great hikes, including one with ripe blueberries and blackberries (Graveyard Fields- late July).

A Wonderful Week in Asheville, NC

Date of Stay: 07/22/10 Review Submitted: 08/10/10

We just spent a wonderful week in a lovely home in Asheville, NC. We were 15 family members who got together for a special birthday for the matriarch of the family. The house more than met our expectations. The description was accurate, and the photos were great, showing the amenities. The house was immaculate! The owner was very helpful in answering our questions and responding when we needed him. I would definitely recommend this property to our friends. We found much to do and see in the area. We did research before we arrived and came armed with books and itineraries. Some of us went hiking, kayaking, visited the Biltmore Estate, museums. We happened to be in Asheville when the Bele Chere festival took place, and we enjoyed the music and crafts. Bele Chere is held annually on the last weekend in July. There were many really good restaurants in town, and we were able to get reservations for the 15 of us! I would definitely recommend this as a wonderful place to vacation.

My Review of Pine Hollow

Guest: "Guru" (Madison County, North Carolina)
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 07/07/11

I have been in the Pine Hollow Cpuntry Home several times, but most memorable was the lobster roast I experienced there last fall. There were about 12 people present for this happy event and the house was perfect for the occasion. For interesting details, the big effeciantly designed kitchen was large enough for all the food preparation and provided great opportunity for socializing with friends in a pleasing environment. The front deck proved to be ample for gathering, eating and enjoying the evening. This Country Home is a great place for family gatherings, corporate planning retreats and ideal for such special events as our lobster roast. I recommend it without hesitation. Neil Leach

Our family gathered in Asheville for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and we chose Pine Hollow as our rental home via VRBO. We had never visited Asheville, and knew very little about the town and the accommodations....... Let me just say that we were blown away, by everything! Asheville is absolutely amazing, and has stuff for everyone of all ages to do and get involved with. As for Pine Hollow, it was simply a dream; absolutely spectacular. We had people ranging in ages from 87 to 6 years old, and everyone had a terrific time. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures, and there was plenty of room for all 14 of us. We were only 10 minutes outside of Asheville, but the views and the privacy made us feel like we were out in the middle of the "country". We will be back, I promise!!

The perfect choice for a girls getaway in Asheville! Myself and 4 of my closest friends thoroughly enjoyed staying here...Lots of room to spread out and LOTS OF BATHROOMS! The main great room with fire place and huge kitchen was perfect for hanging out. Located just minutes from downtown Asheville's gourmet restaurants, galleries and great shopping- not to mention spas - as well as accessibility to local highways, including the Blue Ridge Parkway, for more exploring!! This home is warm and welcoming and the owners are great! Thanks so much! We'll be seeing you again!!

Four season paradise!

We have been thrilled to experience this property during all four seasons! Fall offers a spectacular view of the brilliant colors of the changing leaves on the deck. Winter is cozy in front of the massive fireplace! Spring and Summer are especially beautiful times to visit Asheville. Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore House and Gardens, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock are all must see places to visit! The house has all the amenities for families large and small, ideal place for kids! Also a great place for a group of adults to get together. Steve and Donna make you feel like part of the family and offer ideas for activities and the outstanding culinary options Asheville has to offer. We have fallen in love with Asheville and have even purchased property so that we too can someday call this area home!

What a wonderful Mothers' Day weekend at Pine Hollow

We had a wonderful gathering of friends and family over Mothers' Day at Pine Hollow. From Denver,North and South Carolina and Georgia. The home was beautiful and well maintained. Steve was very responsive to our questions (issue with getting heat on in downstairs). a couple of the upstairs rooms are a little small for adults, but overall great gathering spaces! Really enjoyed Asheville and the galleries. Highly recommend this home and the area.

You can tell immediately upon opening the door to this home that it was designed with a lot of love and thought. The house is tucked away in the mountains, but just minutes away from downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The kitchen has every ammenity available, all high end features, and the fireplace! Gorgeous. Very restful, peaceful getaway for couples or extended family.

Hoops Heaven

Myself and 9 old high school friends gather every year for the 1st 2 rounds of the NCAA Basketball tournament, and every year we book a different destination to visit. We obviously watch a WHOLE LOT of college basketball, but we also enjoy playing golf, hiking, and checking out the local nightlife, etc. So our destinations have to offer all of these. We have been to Boston, Chicago, and many other big cities, and thus felt like we might be taking a flyer on Asheville. We couldn’t have been more wrong; this city & region are awesome! There is so much to do, and the “outdoors” are limitless. As for the accommodations, they were just as awesome. This is the best house we have rented in over 20 years of doing this. It is spacious, well furnished, and has 4 full bathrooms. The owner, Steve, was even willing and helpful in arranging for us to have 3 additional DirecTV receivers set up so that we could have 4 TV’s downstairs in the TV/Great RM area for the full NCAA experience. Just a terrific experience.

Great family getaway!

Family vacation at Pine Hollow with extended family staying with us from Brevard, NC. 4 adults, 6 kids, ages 4 years to 70. We have rented vacation homes in our home state of Michigan on Lake Michigan, in Traverse City and on Mackinac Island. We were "blown away" by this property. Kids loved the play areas, the lofts, and exploring the mountain. Adults loved the amenities, location (great views and close to town), and Steve and Donna's hospitality. Highly recommend this property for small or large family/friends gatherings. Hope to return soon!

My girlfriends & I booked this home for a "Girl's Get-a-way" week, and we were absolutely blown away! What a terrific home & perfect location. We were 10 minutes from downtown Asheville & the Biltmore Estate, so going into "play" was a piece of cake; then retiring back to pure relaxation was a short drive away. The timber frame is simply breathtaking and immediately calms and draws out your stress. :-) We will most certainly be back next year!!
