Unfortunately, we were only able to stay for the weekend, however, this home is amazing!! There were ample towels, linens, pillows, etc. The kitchen was fully stocked, even ziploc baggies which came in handy. John and his wife even had extra toothbrushes and toothpaste in case you forgot yours, which was a nice touch to see. The house was extra clean and super comfortable. Only one t.v. in the main living area, the computer was an added bonus! The one thing which can be awkward depending on whose coming along on your trip is the bathroom setup upstairs....any guests using the two spare bedrooms will either have to use the master bathroom or go downstairs to use the bathroom on the main floor (night time bathroom trips). This is a gorgeous property...if you are looking for some time to get away and relax, you have found your place!! The stars at night were amazing!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We were very happy with this rental house. It’s 3-bedroom, old house but with complete new upgrades. Let me tell you a few things: truly fully equipped kitchen (tons of dishes, kitchen appliances, basic and exotic spices, all you need to bring is cooking oil, this saved us a lot of money on not dining out every meal); beach toys; linens/towels; washer/dryer (we did laundry every night), grill, fire pit ( this was a big hit for my kids, we sat around the bonfire every night after dinner until dark roasting corns and sausages, the kids did not even watch TV!). The location is also great, 4-minutes drive to Good Harbor Bay on Lake Michigan, where you find sanding beach and clear water, ant not much people; 25 minutes to Traverse City; 5 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore. The owner is very friendly and helpful This really is a home away from home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

As another reviewer stated, I hate to review this property because it feels so much like a "home away from home". The house was immaculate and property well cared for; plenty of towels, linens, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, great porch with patio set and grill, cool nights and stars galore. We felt like we were living on a secluded country road, but yet were a "snap of your fingers" away from Good Harbor Beach, a very private clean, white sandy beach on Lake Michigan. Property is very close to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, where we took the 7 Mile Drive; Glen Arbor, Leland, Suttons Bay and Northport. Traverse City is about 30 minutes away. This, just the beginning of exploring a beautiful area of Northern Michigan. The owner was friendly and accommodating. The whole experience was a breath of fresh air. And do try the Taco Stand in Cedar! Thanks so much for your hospitality.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were very pleased with our stay in June and would definitely return. The home is lovely and comfortably accommodated our family. It is beautifully renovated and well equipped. There are lots of windows for natural lighting and fresh air. Around the home is farm land making for a very serene setting and a truly restorative vacation. The location is fantastic! We were just a few minutes drive from beautiful Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Also an easy drive to Lake Leelanau, Suttons Bay, Traverse City and much more. The owners are very nice and welcoming. All around a wonderful stay!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a wonderful stay at the house during the week leading up to our wedding at Field of Flowers Farm. The house is very clean with updated everything, large and comfortable, and extremely peaceful. The owners are attentive and helpful, though they stopped by more often than needed in the week we stayed there. This is a great location if you want to be close to good harbor beach, north bar lake, the adorable towns of Cedar (try to the taco stand!) and Leland. We may be back soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: I don't remember how many times I may have stopped by, but point taken. That time of the year requires frequent mowing, so that might be a reason for me being a little too present. Generally, I try to stay away unless a have a good reason to stop (clean towels, mowing, garbage pick-up, questions, etc.).

We stayed last year and found the home to be very nice. It is clean comfortable and accomodated our (5)adult family very well. There is a lot to enjoy about this home. We also went to the Cedar Rustic Inn several times for dinner. If you stay in this location, make sure you go there for dinner! Biking riding was fun with all the hills and challenging coming up the road from the lake. We liked being close to Glen Arbor, and Leelaneau, and Traverse City...so much to do and definately something for everyone! We arrived in late September, at the start of the fall colors. The house is immaculate and comfortable from bedrooms to kitchen. And everything works well from plumbing to internet. We had a mix of fall weather and found the house perfect for waiting out a little early rain and enjoying the quiet. The central location makes it easy to visit the beaches and towns of the peninsula and we were out sightseeing every day. John & Connie had many suggestions for things to see -- we especially enjoyed the cheese-making in Sutton's Bay. We had a wonderful stay, would recommend this rental without reservation... and will be back for another visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented this place over Labor Day weekend with friends and had a great time, The weather was terrible but the accommodations made up for it. The kitchen in a cook's dream, I have never stayed in a rental that had such high end kitchen supplies! Nice grill and decking, comfortable beds & sheets. Completely worth the price and I would recommend this to anyone! We will defintiely be back!!! Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Mixed feelings about doing a review for this great rental because I want it always waiting for us. The neatness (very clean and a unique rental) of this place wants you to take care of it like your own home. I hope you have continued success with your house and know that all of your extra attention and details is very much appreciated. The location may seem out of the way to some but we discovered we were just a short country road ride to wherever we were heading. (Also the country roads around the house were fine for our morning walks.) Places of interest, restaurants, and activities were nearby. Recommend Sugarfoots, The Bluebird in Leland, the Happy Hour on M22, and the 2 hour canoe trip with Riverside in Minor. Make sure you get your Michigan park pass, saw some $100 tickets flapping on some windshields at the park where you end the canoe trip on Lake Michigan. And definitely do a trip to Glen Arbor (sampling at Cherry Republic is a must do!) Plug your destination into your Garmin or whatever and enjoy the ride. Thanks again for the wonderful accommodations. What you see is what you get and more.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed here last October and we were thrilled with our stay. The house is totally remodeled, beautiful inside and out and immaculately clean. Sat outside at night and watched the Milky way and listened to coyotes and owls. It is located very close to Good Harbor beach-the most beautiful beach on Lake Michigan in my opinion- and close to many other places of interest. Highly recommended!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We moved to the Cedar area in 1989 from Ann Arbor, and pursued careers as glass artists (now retired). We both love Leelanau County for its natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle.
Why the Owner Chose Cedar:
This was a natural for us since this rental is only a few miles from our house making any maintenance and/or repair quite easy. The central location in the County is a plus for vacationers and tourists as any destination is just a few minutes away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Very low traffic rural area, yet close to all the attractions of the County. Pet friendly, and close to a dog-friendly beach. The owners/caretakers live near-by in case of any unforeseen issues.
