Adventure Seekers Base Camp with View of Vieques Island!
- Minimum stay:4-5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The Apartment is located in a gated residential community that is a mixture of houses and apartments. The apartments are used mostly as weekend get aways for people from San Juan with most full time residents living in the houses below, the pool is shared by both.
The view is beautiful and the apartment is very breezy, almost windy, so you will have the windows open all of the time. It is too windy for mosquitoes and is very quite and peaceful (but as in most of Puerto Rico, it can get noisy if the neighbors are celebrating).
Most of the people that stay here go to El Yunque rainforest, Playa Azul in Luquillo, the islands of Culebra and Vieques, and water sports like kayaking, scuba, and sailing. Flamenco Beach in Culebra is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is about 45 minutes to Old San Juan and it is an easy "day trip".
THIS IS NOT A RENTAL PROPERTY, it is our second home. We let friends, family, and guests stay there when it is empty so we can share this beautify place and it helps us pay for the mortgage. We do not have a property manager and we work out the details via email and over the phone.

The apartment is nice, clean without luxury but with the most important appliance (except for the iron). The complex have differents courts to play. The apartment is near to shooping center, beachs and restaurants with car. The overall is good, the owners are nice persons. I hope use again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I and our four children stayed here for the entire month we were in Puerto Rico. It was wonderful! There was plenty of space for the six of us and the views from the balcony were breath taking! It is truly a base camp for adventure seekers. We hiked in El Yunque, explored many beaches, visited Old San Juan, took the ferry to Culebra and Vieques, and the list goes on. My kids loved the pool and tennis court at the complex. One bonus of staying here: boogie boards, tennis rackets, beach chairs, cooler.... everything we needed to make our stay easy and so much fun! Jay and Myrna, the owners, were great to work with. They were quick to respond to all of our questions before our trip and made sure we had everything we needed while staying in their home. When we return to Puerto Rico, we will stay here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

When we stayed here we had no idea what we had gotten into. In one week we visited El Yunque, swam in the beautiful Caribbean, took a ferry to Culebra, shopped in Old San Juan, and ate some of the best food ever at the kioskos along the highway by the sea. Even with everything we did, we still had time to relax and enjoy the beautiful view off the deck of the apartment. The location is private, yet conveniently close to anything you could possibly want. We will be returning, for a longer stay next time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: I am from Kansas and my wife is from Puerto Rico. We met in college and raised our kids in Atlanta. We love to do volunteer work, travel, sail, scuba, go hiking, biking or tennis or just about anything outdoors. We just moved to Asheville North Carolina where I work at the National Climatic Data Center (NOAA) and my wife is a Spanish Teacher. Myrna is out of school for the summers and usually spends most of the time traveling or at the apartment in Puerto Rico.
Why the Owner Chose Fajardo:
We got the apartment so that we didn't have to stay at the in-laws when we visit Puerto Rico. We looked all over the island and settled on the Fajardo area because there are so many things to do and it is close enough to the city for day trips. We will probably retire in the apartment but we have to get our kids through college first. There are grocery stores, restaurants, k-mart, walmart, movie theatres, shopping and beaches all within 10 minutes.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We like to get up in the morning have coffee and fresh bread from the bakery. Then we go to Playa Azul (Blue Beach) early while there is still parking and the waves are perfect for Body Surfing. We go back to the apartment for a late lunch and reading or a nap. Sometimes the kids go down to the pool while I take a nap. At night we like to go to the Kioskos or Las Croabas for local food and entertainment or just sit on the balcony. We always spend a day or two in the rainforest hiking and usually take the ferry to Culebra or Vieques. We take Day trips to Old San Juan ( about an hour depending on traffic) and often rent movies on rainy days.
