This property was just what we needed...my eldest son had brain surgery at children's hospital in seattle and he recovered here with me, his mom, for five days afterwards. Megan, the owner, is very on the ball and responsive, and I would very highly recommend this house. Gourmet kitchen with your own veggies and spices growing in the back, two washers and dryers, and two kitchens, all three beds are extremely comfortable. Above all there was a warm and cozy feeling in the home which is exactly what we needed. David my son has recovered well and is doing great, in part the recover has been so fast because this home was so homey and relaxing.

I just wanted to say "thanks!" for letting us stay at your lovely home. We absolutely LOVED it! The back deck, back yard & gardens, and the location were perfect. The beds were very comfortable. We went to several restaurants I read in your suggestions: Harvest Vine, St Clouds and The Skillet. They were all fantastic! Thanks again! Sincerely, Theresa

This is definitely the way to travel instead of staying in a hotel. Our host was wonderful. She communicated with us very well before our arrival, welcomed us at the door, showed us around, and had all the bedrooms and beds prepared. The home has a very personal touch to it which makes you feel comfortable and welcome. Our host has a garden in the back and let us help ourselves to anything growing in it. The location is near the university right in downtown Seattle. Very close to anything you want to do if you are visiting. My family and I highly recommend.

We had a group of 5 stay at this home for a week and we found it to be really comfortable. There was a ton of space for everyone to get alone time while still having enough room for everyone to hang out together in the common area. There are great restaurants and bars within a mile, so we were able to walk to dinner many nights, but the car was an excellent bonus feature for when we were going a bit further. Overall, comfortable house in a good location.

This home is a perfect place for several couples (or a bunch of singles) to get away. It's a relaxing house with your very own vegetable garden and comfy front porch hammock. The kitchen is well stocked and the neighborhood is quiet. We loved our experience there!

Hi Megan - Sorry I didn't get to meet you, but I feel your presence everywhere in this home. I can feel your thoughtfulness and welcoming and trust. We had a wonderful time! It met and exceeded our expectations. I loved the flowers and veggies. We utilized every space here - outside front and back - up and downstairs. Great job Megan! Know you have been a part of creating a beautiful memory for many people. Sherman was great. Handles well and ate of fuel sparingly. Love and appreciate all your touches, and the tips and the travel info. We had a great time! Also enjoyed being able to catch the bus right by the house for a quick trip downtown! Until next time.... many thanks. - Pat

I loved this home so much. It had so much character and charm. We were in town for my daughter's Navy commissioning and graduation from UW and this house was so perfect for our stay. We had my 88 year old father with us and the arrangement on the main level was perfect to accommodate him. We had several other family members join us for a few nights as well and we were able to sit around the dining table and living room and visit just like we would if we were home. I half expected the other family members who couldn't join us for this trip were going to walk in at any minute. My sister and I love gardening and really enjoyed walking around the yard enjoying the beauty of the plants. I was sad to leave, not only because I had to leave my beautiful daughter behind, but also because I had to leave this beautiful home behind as well. Would highly recommend this property. This was one of the most amazing trips we have ever taken. Megan was always prompt to responding to my questions. Although most people think Pike's is touristy, I still love it. A trip to West Seattle to Elliot Bay Brewery is a must for their Ahi taco's! and the cute shops. The proximity to the UW is perfect and a quick shot over the the campus. As far as the listing photos being accurate; they hardly do justice to the beauty, charm and character of the home.

We had three generations of family together and the house suited us all perfectly. The two levels and the setup were perfect. When I wanted a little break, I could go to my downstairs bedroom and close the door. The rest of the household could carry on and enjoy themselves without disturbing me at all. Having a car there to use if we needed it was an advantage, however, we opted to utilize the bus for most of our stay. The bus stop was just around the corner. It was quick and easy (*fun*) for the children and we didn't have to worry about parking. There was a coffee shop within walking distance as well as a great little park for the kids. Food choices were great in our area. We had Ezell's fried chicken (the okra is a must!) We also had Pizza at All Purpose Pizza. The food was terrific and the children got to roll out crust with mini rollers. We cooked many meals and felt right at home.

This was one of the only large houses we found in Seattle that could fit our large family from the East coast coming out to Seattle for our brother's wedding. It was so perfectly suited for sleeping lots of people and having enough space to have alone time or convene and visit together comfortably. We were all impressed with the amenities included; everything was fully stocked and the backyard was newly landscaped. It made it easy to settle in for a long weekend and have it feel like home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would gladly do it again. Highly recommended!

Megan, Staying at your home "truly" made our trip! We all felt so comfortable here. Seattle has been wonderful and the was house was amazing! The Uno games around the table every evening helped us all wind down and remember what these trips are really about. For us that would be staying connected to one another through love, tears and laughter. We were able to relax here after busy days sight seeing because of the inviting energy the house provided. Also, thanks to you we has amazing meals every night of the week! Your suggestions were all home-runs in our book - Quinns was the group favorite! We will definitely book here every time we come to town! Be Blessed, Jason

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: Megan Haas has been starting companies based on what's truly practical and needed in society since 1993. She arrived in Seattle in the year 1996. Seven years later, she won the Mayor's Award for Innovative Business Practices through her work as co-founder of the Utilikilts Co. Ms. Haas has been out and about seeing the world, gathering new concepts and systems for the last ten years, and now she has decided to sit still for awhile and let the world travel to her.

Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill:
This was my home for many years, and it has a wonderful, serene atmosphere from the moment you walk inside. It is indeed Truly Central as it is located in Seattle's oldest historic neighborhood, just minutes walk to downtown, or to the heart of Capitol Hill, and the international District. As a world traveler who enjoys comfort, practicality, and a great atmosphere when I am at home or away, I designed Truly Central to have everything one might need for large groups of friends and/or families who want to travel together to cut costs but also have their own space with their own amenities.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Truly Central is located in the heart of Seattle's Historic Central District, a neighborhood known for its innovative business community, artistic tendencies, exceptional food, and direct proximity to the pulse points of Seattle. A five minute bus-ride or a brisk walk takes you to the heart of downtown. A 10 minute walk or two minute drive and you are in Capitol Hill, an eclectic enclave of thriving clubs, coffee-houses, thrift stores, natural food co-ops, museums, original shop s and lovely parks. It's also home to the Frye Art Museum, where American and European paintings can be viewed for free, and the elegant Seattle Asian Art Museum, with its renowned collection of works from Japan, China, Korea, India, and Thailand, housed in a 1933 art modern structure in Volunteer Park. Samarya, an excellent yoga studio, with a full roster of drop-in classes is just blocks away, (free class on Sat!), as well as Meredith Matthews, the YMCA with soul, a mere five minute drive or short bike ride away. Four blocks in the other direction, is The Central Cinema, Seattle's only pizza & beer movie theater -Admission $5.00. On the same block is 20/20 Cycles where you can rent a bike for the day/weekend, or just sit on the couch by the fire and drink tea. Walk 15 minutes to the South to the International District, featuring a plethora of exceptionally delicious Asian restaurants and shops. The International District and the Central District are the city’s two oldest surviving residential areas and are full of historic buildings and landmarks that have unique, vibrant atmospheres to accompany their rich histories. Over a century old, immigrants from all over the world made their homes in these neighborhoods. The vibrant mix of European, African and Asian settlers left an incredibly rich abundance of small businesses and eateries that derive their influences from the owners’ homelands.
