Glen Lake cottage description
Charming family log home on the east shore of Big Glen Lake. Our family has owned this cottage since our grandparents fell in love with Glen Lake, bought the property and built the cottage in 1939. Reminiscent of bygone days, while updated with modern conveniences. Cedar paneled walls and beamed ceilings create a warm and relaxed feeling. The kitchen has been remodeled to meet current chef standards and the dining room comfortably seats eight, unless you choose to eat outside at the picnic table.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor with a queen bed, double bed, and single bed, to accommodate the adults. The second floor is open and perfect for the children, with four single log-built beds, a queen bed, and a TV sitting area.
The outdoor stone fireplace is ideal for roasting marshmallows or an evening chat while sampling local wines. This private, picturesque setting boasts 200 feet of the finest sugar sand beach on Glen Lake. There are lots of toys for the kids to build sand castles and comfortable lawn furniture for the adults to read or sunbathe.
The dock provides additional access to the lake, as well as a large sunning area. A canoe and a 14 foot aluminum boat are provided for your enjoyment. Our lake front has a sandy bottom which gradually gets deep so it is safe for swimming, and it is the clearest water you'll find on any lake.
If you need a quiet place to get away from it all, head to the back of our property where you'll find a spring-fed stream and pond. There is a sunning deck over the pond with a bench where you can sit and contemplate life. Facing due west, we enjoy spectacular sunsets on the beach or from the cozy enclosed lake front porch. Some people have been known to spend the majority of their vacation on that porch.

About the owner: This log home is owned by two brothers and a sister. Our grandparents had this cottage built in 1939 and we spent our summers growing up here as children. Two of us have lived here for most of our adult lives. We strive to maintain the cottage in the best possible condition, while preserving it's quaint heritage. Our children adore this cottage and help us maintain it to the best of our abilities. We choose to share it with a few select renters to help defray the costs.
