  We found the Yellow House guest house to be extraordinarily clean, quiet, well stocked and very very comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights - wish it could have been longer. The owners are wonderful, very caring and well organized. We would recommend this home, and Sanctuary Rentals, to anyone who asks! A perfect spot to walk everywhere and you cannot beat the proximity to the beautiful Pacific Grove walkways along the ocean.

  I had looked at many photos and descriptions of the "perfect hideaway" in Pacific Grove before finding this one. Thanks to the many views not only of the interior but also the location we knew this would be the perfect choice for a 4 night stay. The layout is exactly as described. The kitchen is compact but very well-equipped for the few meals we prepared. There is even a pot large enough for steaming 3 artichokes. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of closet space. Everything was immaculate and in working order. The only disappointment was not being able to open the windows easily. Some seemed to have been painted shut and others were just stuck--as you would expect from an older home. However this is a minor quibble and in no way detracted from our satisfaction. The location is perfect. The Aquarium, restaurants, and several shops are within walking distance and those that require a car, are not far away.The recreational boulevard that runs along the ocean is marvelous for exercise and simply enjoying the views. During our stay we especially enjoyed observing the harbor seals that were "pupping" at this time. A restaurant we particularly enjoyed was Sea Harvest (also a working fish market). It is also within walking distance and seems to be popular with locals. A highlight was a day spent at Point Lobos State Reserve outside of Monterey en route to Carmel. There are so many short hikes all with gorgeous views. For anyone who is looking for comfort, cleanliness, convenience in a well-maintained venue, this rental would be hard to beat.

  I usually stay in motels and never thought about using a "vacation rental". My thought process is usually that I just need a place to lay my head. Well, this place has changed my mind. My girlfriend was able to find this place for a romantic getaway and they accommodated our last minute reservation request. We even received a call from the owner, our first night there, to find out how we were doing. How awesome is that? What a great little, comfy place. It is absolutely beautiful and in a great location. It is fully stocked with everything you'll ever need (plates, silverware, coffee maker, blender, towels, bath wash)...you name it...it is there. The kitchen has ample space to eat; the bedroom has a soft CA King bed (I believe), a dresser, a TV and DVD player, lots of closet space and a little bay window. The living room has a cute little faux fireplace that also provides heat. On top of that sits the television, with a cable box with DVR capabilities (you don’t even have to miss your favorite shows). The location was awesome, as well. It is one house down from the corner, next to the ocean. We opened the windows at night so we could hear the waves. What an awesome way to fall asleep. Waking up to those same waves and the seagulls isn't so bad either. It is almost within walking distance to everything. Not far down the street is a cute little inside mall. The candy store there was a nice treat. There is everything you need downtown, as well. There are cute little shops and nice places to eat. I even found a 7-11. Everything here seems so thoughtfully laid out in this “home”. I am glad my girlfriend found this place. Again, I will say that my mind has changed on what types of places to stay and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  We are so excited that we discovered The Yellow Guest House! This is the perfect location for us- away from the hustle & bustle of Cannery Row, yet close enough to walk there. Steps across the street & we were “on the bay” where we love to sit, read, meditate & enjoy the glory of nature. We have been coming to PG & Monterey for years & this is a new find. We will definitely be back. One of our favorite places for dinner is Fifi’s, with Vito’s a close second. It was great to meet you both- thanks so much for your hospitality & the fabulously soft bed!

  My wife and I stayed at the yellow house apartment over the garage for three days in October 2011. The stay met all our expectations. The one bedroom apartment was roomy, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The Wifi and TV system worked flawlessly. The location was even better than we expected, one house up from the Ocean and a short walk to the Monterey Aquarium. We will be back!

  we have been going to pacific grove for years and have stayed in a lot of places. we are so happy to have found this unit. it is wonderful. comfortable...spacious and well appointed not to mention location, location, location. the management team and owner are wonderful as well. i highly recommend this for a couple or couple and small child....so much to do and see right around the corner in all directions.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

  Wonderful location and serenity. Bungalow is depicted very well in pictures and reviews. Very comfortabable, quiet and cozy. Able to hear the waves and closeness to services was great - 2 minutes to grocery..... Convection / microwave oven very handy to use. Aquarium could be within walking distance if you choose to walk. Not too many tourists this time of year - weather beautiful and brisk.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
