This site was selected for the spectacular views of the surrounding Tepoztlan and Amatlan mountains. The mystical area is known as the birthplace of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec serpent god, also on the nearby pyramids of Xochicalco. Hence the villa's name: Quetzal Casa. It is 5500 ft above sea level with a year round moderate climate usually between 85F-55F, so there is no need for heating or air conditioning in Quetzal Casa. Tepoztlan is known for its 17th C convent, Mardi Gras Carnival festival, mountain top Aztec pyramid to the god of pulque, red colored mountains, colorful street market, and weekend home to the rich and famous. Cuernavaca is only 20 minutes away.
There are two elegantly decorated master suites, each with king size beds, wood burning fireplaces, and private terrace. Two additional bedrooms, one with queen bed and the other with an Indian-style antique double plus a single bed built into the wall. All bedrooms have private baths and ceiling fans in this three level house on the mountainside.
Relax in the solar heated "infinity edge" pool with swim-up bar and unrestricted awesome views of the mountains and valley. In addition to palapa dining and patio dining the main dining room seats 10. The media room is fully equipped. Lounges and umbrellas are set out daily for relaxing in the outdoor areas.
The three car garage is attached to the housekeeper's quarters. Rates include daily house keeping, all bathroom and poolside towels and bed linens. The maid does a clean up after kitchen use and is available for catering. The Gardner/caretaker takes care of the pool, extensive gardens, and outdoor patios with equipment.
