We had an enjoyable extended stay at this property. We found the home to be very comfortable, with a kitchen that is fully equipped. Large screen TV, with DVD, in greatroom, second TV in master bedroom. Wireless router. The side area, with barbecue, is fully fenced, making it secure for children and pets. The attached garage is a plus, allowing one to keep the car out of the elements and for storing bikes, etc. Our grandson enjoyed fishing the canal behind the house. (No luck) The neighbors advise there are fish in the canal, but the best time to fish is during tide change. There are two restaurants, a deli, and a convenience store all within walking distance. Located mid-way between the bay and the gulf, the private access to the beach is just a short walk away. We found the owner to be very amiable and responsive. There is a neighbor contact for any questions or problems, whom we did not to call.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

I STAYED AT THIS HOME FOR A MONTH JULY 2012. THE LIVING ROOM FURNITURE IS DATED AND SMELLED FUNNY. MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER GOT SHOCKED WHEN SHE PLUGGED IN A LAMP AND THE SPARKS SHORTED OUT THE MASTER BEDROOM. I HAD NO INTERNET FOR OVER A WEEK AND THE OWNER TOLD ME THEY WERE ON VACATION OVER THE 4TH AND WOULD FIX IT WHEN THEY GOT BACK.I ADVISED THEM THAT I HAD TO WORK WHILE I WAS THERE AND THE INTERNET WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME. I HAD TO GO HOME 350 MILES JUST TO WORK FOR 4 DAYS AND THEN COME BACK. THE RETAINING WALL OUT BACK IS SINKING IN AND WHEN WE WOULD FISH OUT BACK WE WOULD HAVE TO WATCH THE GIANT HOLES.THE LIVING ROOM WAS LARGE AND WOULD BE PERFECT WITH NEWER FURNITURE. THE BATHROOMS AND BEDROOMS WERE NICE. KIT WAS NICE. I KEEP THE A/C TURNED OFF WHILE WE WERE AT THE BEACH EVERY DAY AND THE OWNER COMPLAINED AFTER I LEFT THAT THE ELECTRIC BILL WAS HIGH. HALF OF THE WINDOWS DO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN AND I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RESERVING MY JULY 2013 RENTAL.Owner response: We are not very surprised to see this review as this was not a very pleasant experience for us either. We had a huge tropical storm a few days before her arrival and all verizon lines went down in the area for any DSL and FiOs. We were not aware of it until she reached there and called us. Despite calling Verizon multiple times we could not get it fixed soon enough due to July 4th holiday. I personally spent 4 hours continuously being transferred from one department to another. We even looked into Comcast coming in to give them internet access but they did not have any appointment for at least a week. When we finally did get the technician to come in, the renter was not there and we had to track the technician and request a neighbor to be there to take care of the problem. We even offered to compensate the renter for any trouble even though it was a natural disaster and not our fault. The renter had multiple kids in the house including foster children. We are not too sure about the supervision status. A child plugged something in the socket was allegedly electricuted, caused the electricity in the house to blow out and an electrician was needed to fix the electricity to come on again. We were glad that the child was fine but scared about the supervision situation as just plugging a fan in could not have done that. We have lived in the house ourselves multiple time with our 3 kids aged 6 to 12 years old. The seawall had needed some work and the rental contract had made them aware of the fact that the repair was pending, the area could not be used. The seawall has been repaired since then. When the cleaning crew reached the house to clean it after the renter's family had left we got a frantic call from them stating that the house was left in a mess. All furniture was moved out of place, the bathroom walls had erasable crayons all over the tub walls, the glass panel for one of the doors leading to the backyard was broken. Needless to says the house was trashed. Again we ended up paying the cleaning company 3 times the price to clean it. I would really be wary of renting to this kind of renter ever again. The house has been rented before and since this renter with none of these issues ever arising. We think that as we had to use part of the security to pay for the extra repairs, the renter took upon themselves to give such a negative review.

We spent two joyous months at this home by the canal. Every morning we had our coffee outside and enjoyed the ocean air. It is about a 10 minute walk to get to the beach and we went often, mostly to walk the beach. The house is a good home, granted it was built in 1971 so it has its quirks but the owner has been updating and it shows! The beds are comfortable. The kitchen has what you need to make any meal. A full size W/D and the floors are tile. Location is fantastic! We could watch fish jump and birds land in the canal sitting in the dining room through the glass doors. Harry's market is a convenient block away for milk, wine and specialties. Publix grocery is on the way to St. Armand's circle. When you come, be sure to go to Harry's Restaurant(around the corner), Mar Vista for fish(water views) and Dry Dock(marina bay view) for fish and chips and the Columbia in St. Armand's. Mote Aquarium offers is a must see and they offer a boat ride-they drag a net and gently pull up what they catch and release, and they tell you all about the critters and the Bay. Amazing. Although there are no dogs allowed on the beach (to protect the natural wildlife) we did a lot of walking on the island with our little dog! Joan Durante Park is next to the firehouse, three blocks down from the home and worth the stop to walk the boardwalk along the bay front. St. Armand's has a lot of pet friendly shops. Thank you for allowing our little dog, Chili Bear to stay! We made some lovely friends during our stay at Jungle Queen, including the owner, and would recommend this for a vacation rental. We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Enjoyed the location in Longboat Key. Was able to drive either to one end at St. Armands or the other at Anna Maria without much of a distance. Siesta Key is within 25 minutes. The place was clean and had all the necessary items including a grill. Having a garage was nice as well to keep the car out of the hot sun. The owner is very easy to communicate with and always returned any questions quickly. Would stay here again. We had a great time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Two friends and I spent February, 2011 here and found it to be very comfortable. The house is very roomy, well equipped, and situated within easy walking distance to the beach and a short walk to the end of the street for a beautiful view of the bay. It is an easy drive to the Ringling Museaum, St Armand's Circle (wonderful shopping) and great restaurants. We enjoyed a great meal at Harry's restaurant just a couple of blocks away. Our landlord was very caring, thoughtful, and communcative. Mike, who cares for the property, was a real sweetheart and "Johnny on the spot" if we had any questions or concerns. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: This was our first rental after fully furnishing and renovating our house. It was a very positive experience for us as well because we felt appreciated for our time and money that we invested to make it a unique experience for all future renters who would like to visit Long Boat Key which is a well kept secret with it's world class Beaches,Tennis,Golfing,Boating,Resturants and live Theaters.
