In the Walls & Wooden Beams of Xvth Century Abbey – Le Marais
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Not only the location is perfect but also this apartment is unique. The building was built on the walls of an ancient XVI century Abbey. The apartment is a family apt. Owners uses it a few month per year. It is not a modern design but is very convenient. The stone walls and the large ceiling wooden beams bring an incredible charm to this 100m2 duplex. Even the entrance and stairs of the building are made out the ancient stones.
• The apt is located on the 1st floor (European standard) i.e. 2nd floor (US Standard), no elevator.
• The entrance opens on the large living room & dining area. It is an open space with 2 large windows that contains a table that sits 6 as well as a large lounge area.
• A wooden stair gets up to the bedroom level. The master bedroom is located on the back of the building. It is very quiet. It offers a queen-size bed and large closets.
• The 2 other bedrooms are not large but can sleep 2 guests each. They fit very well for kids or teenagers. Obviously, adults also can stay in those bedrooms (check photos) knowing it will be tight.
• On upper level the bathroom next to the master bedroom offers a bathtub with shower and toilets.
• On the lower level another bathroom offers shower and toilets.
As a summary, we would say that this large apartment is perfect for a large family. It is in a perfect location and convenient for fitting a large party.
Located in a calm and safe street, the apartment is 1 mn walking distance from the Museum of Modern Art (Beaubourg), it is surrounded with middle age dated narrow streets full of restaurants and shops.
You will find a mix of cultural attractions, hype bars and night life, fancy clothes stores and traditional architecture. The “Seine” is 3 mn walking distance. In summer, enjoy the “Paris plage” attraction when the Seine banks are transformed in sand beaches and cultural attractions (music, sports , events …).
Located in the center of Paris, you will be at 10 mn of most of the interesting spots, using at will the following subway stations: Chatelet, Hotel de Ville, Les Halles.

If you want crisp linen sheets and the modern hotel feel then stop reading. This is not for you. If you want comfort and charm, centrally located in la Maris in Paris this is the place for you. From the first enquiry, all the way through to arrival, the service was informative, helpful, friendly and efficient. Payment was safe and secure. Arrival arrangements were simple and well organised. The location, at the quite end of an interesting street full of galleries and excellent bistros... Close to a number of metro stops, bakeries and 5 -10 min walk to Notre Dame. Minutes to the Pompadour centre. Easy walking to the louvre. We stayed with 2 teenage children ( 16 and 17) and the space was ideal with the three bedrooms. I will stay here again and recommend it highly.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

My husband, granddaughter and I had a wonderful stay in the apartment on rue Quincampoix. The location could not have been better - close to three metro stations and two buses around the corner. We enjoyed shopping at the local stores and sampling the many varieties of take-out food for several dinners. The apartment gave the three of us plenty of space and privacy. Myriam provided us with a great introduction to the apartment and the surrounding neighborhood. We would love to stay there again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We spent the month of May in the apartment on Quincampoix. It was a wonderful location. We could, and did, walk everywhere from there. There was a grocery store just a block and a half away, and there was even a wheeled shopping cart in the apartment to make hauling the groceries home easy. The boulangerie was just at the end of the street, so we had warm croissants every morning. There were plenty of places to eat. Just a stroll away was the Pompediu where there was always some street entertainment. The apartment is very large by urban European standards. There was plenty of room for four people. The internet telephone was a great feature. We were able to call land lines in the U.S. for free. keeping in touch without any cost. We had no problems with the internet service. The street could be noisy, especially when one of the galleries was having an event. But it was just part of the liveliness of Paris! We wouldn’t hesitate to book this location again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

The payment process is unnecessarily convoluted and expensive. I have been renting houses and apartments in France for 15 years and have never experienced anything like your process. I would not want to repeat it. If one books well in advanced, ordinary credit card transactions can be completed and verified well in advance, a process I have been using for years without a problem for either lessor or lessee. The "benefits" of this cumbersome procedure accrue exclusively to the banks of the lessor and lessee and, in my view, they don't deserve them. Change your payment procedures! Apart from the inevitable flattering appearance created by modern photography, the apartment was basically as advertised and was more than adequate for our purposes. One or two things need some attention: access to wifi was troublesome. Sometimes, and too frequently, it was impossible to connect to the service; at other times the connection would spontaneously terminate. The lamp at the left end of the sofa (under the stairs) needs to be fixed or replaced: a new bulb did not help. As a sectional, the new sofa has its downsides: it slides apart under use. It might also be noted that, at least in March, rue xxx, although quite narrow, is a very busy and noisy street even into the wee hours of the morning. Light sleepers in the front might have nights of disturbed sleep. Your "logistics" person was most helpful and efficient.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Hi Laurence, Be sure we always try to take into account comments to improve our service. Actually, we are pretty proud of our performance in booking process satisfaction. We do not see how payment process could be simpler : 50% rent on booking + 50% rent 15 days prior check in and deposit. Payment through Paypal or CC. I suppose your experience comes from a one off issue with paypal. I am really sorry you had this difficult experience. It can happen. It is independent of our will. We always try to help. I copy hereunder extract of our guests reviews to illustrate satisfaction. From: Federico " The location was terrific and the place was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We also found the whole booking and payment process extremely convenient and smooth." From: mark "Our stay in the apartment was wonderful. All transaction elements went very smoothly and we booked on very short notice. Refund of Deposit right on time. From: David Dear Jean-Noël the process of reserving the apartment, paying for it, checking in/retrieving the keys and checking out was easy, fast and convenient. From: crystal Hello Jean-Noel! Booking your apartment was easy and efficient and the directions/guidelines you provided were accurate, clear and easy to follow. The apartment was exactly as described. From: Stacy "Jean Noel was wonderful about staying in contact before we left, processing paperwork and returning our deposit right away. From: Linda "Jnoel, I really appreciate your professional and efficient service and would be pleased to write a review for future guest" Sincerely JNoel

Dear Jean-Noel and Myriam, We wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay in your apartment. The location was fantastic and the opportunity for the four of us to visit in your welcoming Living Room made the beginnings and endings of each day perfect. We were able to get internet access directly through your plug-in modem. Thank you for having it available for use with our computer. Once again, we want to thank you for a wonderful visit. We plan to recommend this rental to our friends, and provide a positive review for your VRBO listing. Sincerely, Steve and JudyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I absolutely loved this flat - it is a real home from home, oozing vintage charm. The location is perfect and everything you could need is included (except a dvd player). Upsides: it's on the first floor, it's about 1 minute from the Pompidou Centre, three bakeries and a supermarket are practically on the doorstep, it's amazingly quiet (considering the location), it has tons of Parisian features, there are two toilets, the kitchen in well stocked with utensils, there's a bath AND a shower, it's spacious (by parisian standards), it's terrific value for money Downsides: it was occasionally noisy at night - it is truly central and central paris flats are very high density, so if someone has a party, you'll know about it (But this only happened a couple of times in the four weeks I was there), and if you are the kind of person who wants everything slick and modern, it's not recommended. But if you like things cosy and want a place that is genuinely parisian, you'll love it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

My husband and our 4 adult children stayed in the apartment in December. We had a wonderful time - the apartment is warm and welcoming and we had plenty of room. The location is superb - we walked everywhere and there were several Metro stops nearby. Lots of shopping and fun restaurants. Very near the Pompidou Center as well. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending the apartment and Paris!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We stayed in the apartment at 99 rue Quincampoix for five nights in early September 2010. The apartment exceeded our expectations in a number of ways, most importantly - the location. Centrally located and close to everything, yet very quiet. The street is very small and charming, with hardly any traffic. Three (!) metro stations are within 5-7 min walk. A number of supermarkets and boulangerie/patisserie are within 3 min walk, so you can always have fresh croissants with your morning coffee. Another important detail - it is less than 10 min walk from Les Halles train station, from which you can take the train directly to the CDG airport and avoid either paying for the taxi, or carrying your luggage through millions of stairs in the metro. The apartment itself is charming and adds to the Parisian feel of your stay. Our party was rather large - 6 people - but we had plenty of space and never felt "crowded". Everything was working, clean and in good order. The only inconvenience I can think of - a flip side of the charm - is that the staircase was quite narrow and it was not easy to carry large suitcases through. All the logistics also went very smoothly and timely. When we arrived, we were greeted at the apartment by a nice lady who showed us around the place. The booking and payment procedures were straightforward and the safety deposit was refunded to us within two days after our departure. Overall, we can wholeheartedly recommend both the apartment and the management to anyone planning their stay in Paris. Thank you. AndrewDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 13/13
