  A really nice home, we stayed for a week and a half and we really loved our time! A lovely backyard with a clean pool, nice flowers, a big terrace for bbq or enjoying a drink outside and a really cool place to eat outside. We also had internet and AC. The place was very clean and well maintained, a gardener came every morning to clean the pool and the garden and a maid took care of the house before our arrival so everything was very clean! The house is only 5 minutes by car from the beautiful Carillo beach. I've been to a lot of beaches in Costa Rica, and this one still my favorite place. Carillo is calm and pretty beautiful, but at the same time, you are near of Samara which is more busy if you want (bar on the beach, lot of tourist, surf, etc.). I recommend the fishing day trip from Carillo which was pretty fun! I absolutely recommend this place, a charming house in a gorgeous town where you will appreciate every appeal that Costa Rica offers!

  The house is pretty but it's poorly kept. We arrived and when we opened the kitchen trash can we found rotten trash full of insects, clearly that hadn't been cleaned in months or at least weeks. Next morning we found dust, moths, mold and spiderwebs in all the closets, and used sheets in one bed. When we told this to the caretaker he said "I'm too busy, I don't have time" so we had to email the owner. After several emails and after realizing that he wasn't taking our word we gave up, but luckily he ended up sending a maid the next morning. Even she said that the house was very dirty and that she would call the maid that was in charge of that house to tell her about the situation. The grill was disgusting, even had spiderwebs, again: clearly not cleaned in weeks or months; we also had to ask the new maid to clean it. (Unfortunately this website won't allow me to upload the pictures that show all these situations). Regarding the add, there are several things that are not accurate. There is no internet (or at least it never worked during the week that we were there), there is no daily maid service. No hand soap in any bathroom (we bought our own), one half way used toliet paper in each bathroom (for 1 week that's not enough for 6 people, so we also bought our own). But in the end, we realized that there was little the owner could do from Canada and that his maintenance staff was not very efficient so we decided to enjoy our time there and initially decided against writing a bad review. However, I just opened an email from the owner, in which he tells me that the owner from a nearby hotel told him that we were 15 people in the house (we were 8) and that we had 3 dogs (we had 2 and they left as soon as we were reminded that there were no pets allowed... our bad and we apologized). It is absolutely disrespectful to send someone to surveil your guests. All these situations and actions make us not want to recommend this property.

  this house stands on a small hotel premises. All hotel services are available for the renter, and this makes life easier. Very peaceful, nice gardens, beach at about 2 km, but hotel has a trailer with everything (including water) there, and this helps, believe me. The villa had a pool problem, but hotel staff proposed another one, next to it, very similar. Very comfortable. Accurate description, property is well maintained, helpful owner. Playa Carrillo is much better than samara, on a "beachy" standpoint, however, frequent trips to samara (15 min drive), are required since samara has much more services. Go to Gusto restaurant, next to the ATM. Best in town, prices still affordable. Both Carrillo and Samara are away from attractions, so car is needed. For example, the rincon de la vieja is a 2 hr trip, but you have the best of several worlds at a minor cost. I would definitely recommend this property. On top of this, price is more than attractive! thanks! eric

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
