Twelve of my late 20-something year-old friends and I recently stayed here for a wedding weekend and absolutely loved it! The space was surprisingly much nicer than the photos. The kitchen is by far the best part of the house, it is huge with restaurant style ovens & fridge. The downstairs is super cozy, but with plenty of space to hang in separate rooms. The bedrooms are a little older and very kitchy, which my group found appealing being city folk, and most of the bathrooms have been recently renovated. Something to note, there are only THREE showers (one does have a dual shower head which is awesome) so we ended up sharing bathrooms, but in the end nobody seemed to mind. My group was so impressed they want to come back next year! Eileen and Fred are super nice and I would recommend this rental house to anyone looking for a great spot for a friend or family gathering.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The first floor of the home is wonderful, tons of space to hang out. 2 of the "full" bathrooms just have a tub, no showers. to use the showers you have to go into one of the other bedrooms to use the shower. for the cost of the rental I think a couple of showers could be made out of the tubs that are there. 5 of the beds are nice. The 6th is a futonRecommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: First of all the reviewer did not rent the house through VRBO or me. He/she went through a real estate company so of course they payed a premium! I do not know how the Real Estate Company describes my home but I have a very accurate description of my house on VRBO. Also be aware I did not set the price . The price was set by a knowledgable broker. The house also could have been rented at that price multiple times. I have never had anyone complain about the bathroom situation as they are happy to have 51/2 bathrooms even though 2 just have tubs. I also have lots of repeat families and large groups!

About the owner: This is our family in action. We spend most of our time on our sailboat Kialoa V racing and cruising the caribbean and east coast of the U.S. so that is why our home is on VRBO. My husband and I have owned many different houses in Lake Placid over the last 27 years and we always have had them in a vacation rental program . We love Lake Placid and always come back to enjoy a week here and there during every season. We love to come back in the winter time for skating, skiing and snowboarding as well as enjoying all the olympic venues. Summer is our time for hiking, fishing, swimming and wake boarding. Fall is one of our favorite times to be in Lake Placid with the changing of the leaves. There is always some event going on in Lake Placid no matter what time of year. We love our home and I think you will enjoy it as well.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Placid:
We chose to buy this home because of the location in Lake Placid. The kids can walk downtown to the beach on Mirror Lake. We are 5 min walk to the jack rabbit trail and Lake Placid Lake. My husband and I love to walk out the door and walk to shops downtown as well as restaurants. The second reason we bought this particular house was the size of the house. We love to entertain and always have lots of company so we need a large house.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I love to cook and our brand new gourmet kitchen will thrill you too.
Even with lots of company i can always find privacy wether in the Library or reading a book on my day bed off our bedroom. The other wonderful thing is the outdoor Living. The large yard with the big deck the back garden and sunroom as well as the front porch with swing.
