Our family of 14 spent a week enjoying a little piece of heaven. This phenominal mountain retreat has adequate room for everyone, a pool room on the lower level and magnificent views as we cooked (indoors and outside on the deck), ate or just lounged inside and out. We were not far from Dahlonega, several pottery and antiquing spots (and let's not forget the candy store), hiking trails, various little spots to take children for amusement, or outlet stores for Black Friday. The photos, great as they are, understate the grandeur of the location. The property was clean and very well maintained and had most modern conveniences (dishwasher, convection oven, beautiful kitchen cabinetry and counter tops). What a magnificent opportunity to relax, enjoy and create great memories.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Upon arrival the first thing I noticed is the awesome views and the house, but that was short lived. The house was HOT, the ac was turned to 78 wich is what the owner asks that you leave the ac set at. Then 1 of the ac units stopped working all together, now the house is over 80. So we called the owner to let him know, we were told that he would "try to get someone out there to fix it". Two very hot days later our trip was over, the ac was never fixed and none of our call after the first one were returned. My advise to anyone considering renting this cabin is to look elsewhere. There are much better places to rent in the area.Owner response: Never having received a negative review on our lodge, let it suffice to say the remarks were very surprising. Our goal is for everyone to have a positive experience. We regret that our guests from Durham did not enjoy their visit. We will provide a complimentary night if they elect to reserve a weekend in the future. They arrived April 26, the A/C issue was reported April 28 when it began to malfunction. We explained that it was difficult to secure a technician in the area on the weekend but that we would make our best effort. We have two cell numbers available to our guests 24/7. Occasionally a call or message could be missed. If we miss a call or message, keep trying. April 28, when the A/C malfunctioned, the high temperature outdoors did in fact reach 79 degrees. The low for the day that morning was 53 with a mean average of 60. Sunday, our guest's last full day at the house, also had a high of 79 and low of 54. When they departed Monday morning temperatures were in the high 60's to 70. The house has ceiling fans everywhere and more cross ventilation windows than most homes. Even without A/C for a day, during mild temperatures we find it unusual that it could get so uncomfortable. Their request for a $500 credit certainly seemed excessive. Housekeeping was still preparing the house when they arrived, ahead of our posted check in time. Our housekeeper later reported that their first inquiry when they arrived was about how to use the gas fireplaces. That seemed a bit unusual during such temperate weather. We couldn't know if they were using the fireplaces for ambiance, while at the same time running the A/C. And certainly, we NEVER require anyone to keep the thermostats (there are three A/C units) at 78. We do recommend conserving and during mild periods to avoid using the fireplaces and if possible to maintain inside temperatures of between 76 and 78. But there is NO requirement. Our guest book at the house is filled with accolades from our guests. Area wineries and wedding venues repeatedly refer visitors because of the experience provided by our 18-acre site and custom built house.
