Door County has been named the Best Family Vacation Destination in Wisconsin as well as one of the Top Ten Vacation Destinations in North America by Money Magazine. Most recently it has been named the Best Wisconsin Romantic Getaway by Wisconsin Magazine. In the heart of Door County is the Village of Sister Bay which is on the bay side of Door County. This is significant because if you like boating, swimming, fishing or just beautiful sunsets, the bay side is the place to be. Sister Bay has lots of shopping, restaurants and water activities as well as a huge marina.
Very close to the village is Maple Manor, a beautiful 2 acre estate with a historic church that has been transformed into a beautiful home. The great room is 27' x 47' with a beautiful fireplace and several sitting areas. Off this room are 3 bedrooms all with their own fireplaces and whirlpool baths. The large eat-in kitchen is also off this extraordinary room. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms each with their own whirlpool baths and each with their own staircase. And lastly there is the tower room where you can sit and read or write with a little solitude.
This is a perfect home for a large family or several couples who enjoy traveling together. It is truly an extraordinary place to stay.
There is so much to do in Door County that you just can't fit it into 1 week.

We came from California to Sister Bay to lay our mother to rest next to our father. There were 6 siblings, a few spouses and 2 nieces and having a place for all of us to stay together was very important and Maple Manor was PERFECT. The lay out and spaciousness of the house allowed both privacy and room for us to get together w/o feeling cramped. All 11 of us "LOVED" the house! Being able to walk each morning to Al Johnson's for swedish pancakes (a family tradition) was a big plus! Thank you Kurt for opening your house to others. Our stay in your home will always be a special memory to us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our 4 couple book club spent 4 nights in this lovely house. It was a wonderful place for what has become an annual excursion, especially for a group that has much to talk about besides the books we read.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our extended family of 11 stayed here the first week of July, 2012 and enjoyed it so much! We have stayed at other vacation rentals across the country, but this ranks on top for quality, beauty, relaxation, close to Sister Bay, but with an out of town feel. The listing was exactly as posted, the pictures are great, but don't do the home justice. The property was clean and when there was a minor problem, it was taken care of within two hours. The owner called me personally to make sure that everything was taken care of and then gave me all kinds of tips about the surrounding area. This was a fabulous, wonderful vacation/family reunion. I would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
