We rented this property to celebrate Christmas 2012. The location is a perfect 1/2 way meeting place for those traveling from Cleveland and Chicago area. The pictures on the website are very accurate, but it is so much more in person. It is colorful, fun, bright, cheery, roomy, and inviting. There were 10 of us, we had plenty of space for all kinds of activities. We also cooked Christmas dinner and we could not believe how well equipped the kitchen is.Lots of fun antique shops locally to shop also. We would all recommend this property to friends and other family members.

We just completed a fall golf/shopping get-away weekend and loved the house. The home is beautifully decorated and absolutely immaculate. It's an impressively large house and has everything you could possibly need. Location is great and works for most anything...golf, hiking, lake activities, shopping. It's the perfect choice for relaxing and/or exploring the local area. Owners are extremely responsive and had everything in perfect shape. You can't go wrong with this choice!

My family of 15 just stayed at the lake house and everything was great. The house was so cozy and it was more than enough room for all of us! We enjoyed being able to walk out to the lake and get right on the boat. The neighbors were very friendly. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils and the kids loved eating at the snack bar.The ping pong table in the garage was also a big hit with us. This house was a wonderful getaway!

We just completed our week at the cottage ( 2900 sq. feet is not exactly a cottage!). This home met everyone of our needs. It's the perfect getaway for anyone looking for a relaxing, kick back vacation. Perfect for a large family vacation and kids of all ages. The owner's are unbelievably accomadating. Don't worry about forgetting anything because it's all there.

We rented this vacation home the third week in June. With this being such a hot year, even the third week in June was hot and we appreciated having a air conditioned house. The lake was easily accessible. We enjoyed sitting on the pier and swimming in the lake. The house is very adequate and was fun for our family. There was even a pack and play for our grandbaby. The kitchen is clean and has almost everything imaginable to make a cooking easy. We also enjoyed having a campfire one night. We spent quite a lot of time playing yard games and ping pong. One day we went to the Shipshewana flea market and ate at the Blue Gate Restuarant. It was only 44 miles away. We had a very fun, lazy summer vacation and it felt wonderful!

Our high school friends were looking for a place to reconnect and spend a few days together talking about old times. We discovered this wonderful cottage that served all our needs. It is bright, colorful, clean and very spacious. We picked up where we left off almost 42 years ago. What a great place to reunite with old friends!

Annually, our family tries to get away for at least a few days together and this year's selection hit the mark with the Crooked Lake house. We were there for 3 nights and wished it were for a couple of more. It was spacious enough for 15 of us and had everything that we needed to feel at home there from the minute we stepped inside. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you need to prepare a large family meal. The location to the lake was very good with the house being just across the street from the water. It had a beautiful view from the 2nd floor deck that you never get tired of. We made a visit to Satek Winery, the Buffalo Preserve and also went to Pokagon State Park and had a blast on the toboggan run. My wife also spearheaded a scavenger hunt that everyone had a great time with. Speaking for the entire family, I can highly recommend this vacation home for friends or family.

Owner response: We would like to clarify that the street is actually just a lane that services about a dozen lake-front cottages. The main street is behind our home.

7 of us from 3 families (extended) spent 3 terrific days here...the space provided in this lovely home is great for both larger group and individual or small group interactions. Everything is in great shape. And the proximity to Pokagon State Park is an added benefit. We were lucky to have a 4 inch snowfall the first day, and it enhanced the beauty and made possible snowmen and forts that our 3 year old granddaughter really loved! The owners are wonderfully personable and eager to provide whatever info is needed. I can't think of a nicer place to have stayed...and if we do this again in the future, we'll certainly want to return!

We enjoyed the Crooked Lake cottage for a short 3-day family vacation just before Christmas. The house is in great shape, and laid out just right for a family of 9 (4 adults and 5 teenagers). Well-appointed kitchen for cooking. Convenient location for access to Pokagon State Park (we went toboganning every day!). Cottage was clean, well-maintained, and a great layout for a large family to enjoy. Large bunk area is great for the teenagers plus 4 private bedrooms. Highly recommended - great value!

My 5 sisters and I spent the first weekend of October here and had a wonderful time. The 6 of us began making an annual weekend trip together for many years and I do have to say this is the nicest place we have stayed. It is so comfortable and inviting, we definately were not crowed. Room for everyone to sleep and then some. We relaxed, palyed some games, made ice cream sundaes for lunch and homemade pizza for dinner. Did some shopping at close by Shipshewana. Took a walk over by the lake but didn't stay out long, it was a little cold to hang out at the beach. I would reccomend this to others that are looking for a nice place to spend time with family and/or friends. Can't wait to return next year and see what else we can discover in the area.

My husband and I stayed at this home with his family (6 adults). We had so much space! This home is very warm and welcoming and has tons to offer. Unfortunately during our stay it was cool and rainy all weekend, so we didn't get to experience Crooked Lake, but we definitely plan on returning for another family getaway!!

We've stayed in lake homes all around Indiana and this home has been our favorite. The house is in great shape and is good size for a group. The crystal clear lake was great for wakeboarding, wake-skating, skiing & tubing. Never too crowded. We met the neighbors and they were so nice...a first for us. We were a little hesitant seeing notes about "girls' getaway" but the house had something for everybody when we weren't on the water. We will be back!

We arrived at L-Z the Thursday before Memorial day and we were awestruck at how well it was kept and ow many amenities were available. It rained almost all weekend and while that bummed us out the size and comfort of the L-Z getaway made it easy for us to relax comfortably and still enjoy ourselves! Thanks you Kelli for your great communication! This house is across the street from the lake but still has wonderful views. You will not be dis-appointed in this place!

What a wonderful place to get away with family & friends. Very clean and well stocked. Would recommend this to everyone.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner response: This home is a perfect place for "Girls' Getaways" like the Moser Cousins (with 12 in their party) and a group of old high school friends from the Class of '66 that also had 12 in their party. Comments from them included, "laughing", "Calico and Collectibles" (a quaint store in downtown Angola), "sharing", "snow" (it snowed large snowflakes when both of these groups were at this home--which added to the beauty of it). Even in the winter, we had hoped that the L-Z Getaway would be a place to relax and get away from it all and be used as a couples' retreat, girls' getaway and, of course, a place to make many wonderful family memories.

What an inviting home - the pictures represents it well but can not really reveal its charm! Our family of 11 was excited from the momment we entered and regretted the time was so short when we left. Everyone had the space they needed. Not only furnished with quality household items - from kitchenware to linens, the videos, TVs and books were a nice extra. Everything was spic and span. Kelly assured our time there was a great We hope to enjoy it again as we return to Pokagoon. .

The house is large enough for several families to share. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated. One bedroom has two double beds and a twin with bean bag chairs and a nice little sitting area. We put all the kids together in that room and they had a blast. The kitchen has everything you need to cook big meals, with a long counter for added seating. The ping pong table and foosball table in the garage were great- we stayed in December when there was lots of snow outside, so it was nice to have an activity right at the house. We did go tobogganing at Pokagon State Park which is only 10 minutes away- that was a blast! The property manager was very easy to work with and responsive to all our needs. Another bonus for this property is that they allow pets, and the yard is fenced! Everything was just wonderful! I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Owner response: While we have allowed dogs in the past, this property will no longer be a pet-friendly home. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to future pet-owner renters.

We have used VRBO twice---once for an out of state rental and here (about 2 and a half hours from our home). Both experiences were exceptional and make us enthused to do this again! This Crooked Lake home is so spacious, fun and welcoming. Even our teenage son and his friend noticed some of the special touches throughout the home which were whimsical and practically just called out to relax!! The ping pong table in the garage is a really nice touch and helped us to have an ongoing "tournament" during our stay. The boys really appreciated the numerous areas in the house to "hang out" and enjoy movies and games. The pictures only give a small sampling of the beauty of this house! The house was very clean (and I am pretty picky about that!!) and it was very easy to find anything we might need. Kelli, the property manager, did an A++++ job with communicating and being helpful with providing directions, answers to questions, and suggestions since we were not familiar with the area. We sensed she truly cared about us having an enjoyable time during our vacation. She also sought out our feedback about how to make the home and what it offers even better. Also, our security deposit was returned very promptly with a sweet thank you note! Overall, this was an affordable way for a family to get away without squeezing in to a hotel room and eating out at every meal. Our family would love to experience this home again and have access to all that it and the surrounding area offers.

Adorable cottage, with plenty of room and accommodations for a family gathering. The owners, D & S, were extremely friendly and accessible. We rented the boat, which we definitely would recommend, as tubing was fantastic. The lake is not really suitable for toddlers, due to the lack of a beach, but we brought a blow up pool and used it in the fenced yard. My 4 year old could touch at the end of the dock and there is a sand bar in the next basin where boats would dock at and people were hanging out at and swimming around. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it for others.
