If you are looking for a quiet peaceful place to get away from it all, look no further than this secluded waterfront vacation home on the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Sekiu, Washington.
This rugged and beautiful part of the Northwest Coast is located just 35 miles from Forks, Washington, and about 20 miles from the trailhead of Shi Shi Beach, considered one of the best wilderness beaches in the world. We are also close to Cape Flattery, the most northwestern point in the continental US, (the beginning of the world). Our little piece of paradise is a great jumping off spot for visiting all points of the Olympic National Park, whether you want to soak your cares away at Sol Duc Hot Springs, visit the giant and ancient moss covered trees of the Hoh Rainforest, or hike one of the many beach or mountain trails. We're close to the Sol Duc River, famous not only for steelhead and salmon, but now as the home of the Cullen family.
Just want to relax? Sit on the deck of this well appointed home and watch the ships go by, eagles soar overhead and whales cruise the coastline. Beach comb for driftwood, rocks and shells, and explore the many tide pools right in front of the house. On a clear and moonless night, be amazed by the brilliant stars and the Milky Way. And nothing is as wonderful as the cool, fresh air, and the sound of the crashing waves.

We recently stayed in this property on our trip to Washington. We could NOT have enjoyed it any more than we did! We absolutely loved the comfortableness of it. It was not stuffy, but rather homey, very clean and what a view! We were surprised that the carpet was so clean for being a beach home! That was a huge plus. We also ABSOLUTELY LOVED the private access to the beach. We went down there several times and found tons of sea stars (a.k.a. starfish) and multitudes of other marine creatures - it was just perfect!! The boys played in the yard with the badmitten set and the frisbee and the balls that were there - and really enjoyed that. They also loved the board games inside and had fun playing with them!! We watched a seal play in the surf and think we may have seen some otters as well. We lit the fire place and enjoyed the comfort of that - just everything was PERFECT! We hated to leave and really it was a highlight of our trip. JoAnn was a delight to work with as well - both before and after our stay!! We hope this home is available for our next visit out to Sekui - as we wouldn't want to miss out by staying somewhere else. Everything on the website was as stated, if not better. We would recommend this home to anyone! Thanks for a great stay JoAnn!! Jon & Margie
Owner response:Jon & Margie - Thank you for your great review and for taking such good care of our place. We're very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back again. You probably did see otters. They are around, as well as sea lions, whales, eagles and numerous other living things. The tide pools are special and something all of our guests enjoy. Thanks again, and we'll look forward to your return. JoAnn

We had a lovely stay and we got very lucky with the weather! Our 5 and 7 year old daughters enjoyed our hike from Lake Ozette to the lookout (approximately 6.5 miles). It was warm with no wind...we even got a sunburn! We enjoyed the beach here, the stove, playing Sequence (a VERY heated tourney!), working with clay and playing the piano. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing! What a comfortable home - right down to the wonderful books on the history of the area. We all enjoyed our stay - including our 29 year old parrot Calypso. Hope to stay again.

(First time in Northwest Territory) Day 1 - Seen Cape Flattery, just like a dream, wanted to see this since I was in 8th grade. Also 1st whale sighting plus 2 sea lions. Got to house, unloaded, walked down to the beach. 4 grey whale doing their thing, incredible!!! Day 2 - Hoh Rainforest - can only be described as a fairytale wonderland. We hiked three miles in along the Hoh River Trail, and it didn't start raining til after we were done! Stunning, amazing, emerald green forest. The Hoh River is a blue I have never seen in water. It must be glacier blue. We stood at the foot of so many towering trees and thanked God for this creation for us to enjoy. Day 3 - We did the beaches in the rain and it was still incredible! The surf here is so powerful it shakes the ground and the soul. Stopped inside the park, had a nice hot lunch (delicious) and met some very friendly people. What a fantastic and wonderful place!! Day 4 - Went back to Second Beach to enjoy it in the sun. We were 2 out of about 10 people out there at low tide. Gorgeous blue sky, incredible beach, and we watched sea lions play and a pair of eagles. Day 5 - Final excursion. Hiked 3 miles to Capa Alava to see sea otters but struck out. The hike in once again is absolutely amazing, through healthy, happy forest and well laid trails. Give thanks to your local park service for making all these exciting adventures. One piece of advice. Do not go to Alava at low tide. Ths smell is something I can't put on paper! Regardless this has been the most amazing place I have ever been and will return soon! Thanks so much, JoAnn for the warm home to come back to after long days of so much heart felt joy! We have recently been to Hawaii, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado for vacation in the last several years, but this vacation is now at the top. The astounding beauty and diversity is just incredible. This vacation home has been so perfect for us. Thank you, JoAnn! We saw an eagle out front this afternoon! The incredible fall colors have been a bonus!

Thank you for giving us a home away from home. "Perfect" is all I need to say. The only thing missing was a pussy cat. Being from the desert, this was a magical, green landscape. We felt wonder and excitement, just like a kid again. Finding treasure on the beach and seeing marine animals will keep us dreaming from years to come. We will certainly do this again. We have enjoyed every moment From high tide to low, Now we must reluctantly go. We take happy memories Of each bird in each tree Until once more We walk the earth By the sea.

The five of us have had the most wonderful time while here. We all rose up early each morning to beachcomb and whale watch. We were never disappointed during our four days here! We heard, sighted, and filmed whales each day. We also saw sea lions, rabbits, deer, & many kinds of birds (and one chipmunk). This is a very comfortable cottage. The fireplace was a great friend in the mornings and evenings. The sound of the surf is a song we never tired of.

Thank you for having & sharing this wonderful house! Our 4 days & quiet nights were great! Three out of four mornings we saw whales, not 2 bad average! Hike at Cape Flattery, Hobuck Beach, Hurricane Ridge, Hoh and Rialto Beach. We're saving Ozette for our next trip. Both our boys said this was the coolest place (mom & dad, too). Enjoyed every minute!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us. The property is so beautiful and so well located to so many great areas to visit. We hiked at Cape Flattery, Shi Shi Beach, the Hoh Rainforest, Lake Ozette (my favorite!) & Hurricane Ridge. Daily grey whale sightings were a special blessing. So much beauty and peace surrounded us. We enjoyed Makah Days at the end of the week as well and a great soak at the Hot Springs on one rainy day midweek. The house is so well appointed we wanted for nothing & particularly enjoyed fires inside and out. We look forward to returning.
