Our stay at this amazing property was absolutely thoroughly enjoyed. The listing photos do not do justice to the beauty, charm, history, attention to detail, and uniqueness of this home and grounds. We enjoyed the amenities and comfort of the home and the remarkable art collection displayed throughout the house. The paths and walkways outside lead you through beautiful landscaping and statuary to a private bluff and beach with a gorgeous view of Chesapeake Bay. With the western view we were treated with beautiful sunsets in the evening. The owners were a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and visit, and were a wealth of information for first time visitors. We found this to be a much appreciated asset. We are already planning a return visit.

My entire family (8 adults, 4 children and an infant) usually go to Nags Head for our vacation. We were looking for a less "touristy" place this year and settled on Cape Charles. We were delighted with our decision! St Patrick was more than we could have asked for; roomy, warm and inviting. The private beach was relaxing and serene; we couldn't get the children out of the water! The sunsets from the terrace were breathtaking, and we all enjoyed our nightly bonfire on the beach. The beautiful gardens were a perfect place to "get away from it all" when the children got a little noisey in the house. Our stay at St Patrick was truly a memorable family vacation! We will definitlely return!

My family just finished our second stay at the St. Patrick (see previous review from 7/2011). We loved it so much last year that we immediately asked to book it again for this year and we were not disappointed. When we arrived we all agreed it was like coming back to visit a really good friend. The owners were really great to work with and the house was just as gorgeous the second time around. We rarely left because it was just so convenient to walk down to the private beach and then walk back to the house to eat and nap and then go back down for a bonfire in the evenings! The wireless internet access was a favorite of the older kids - they were able to keep up with their social lives and they also like the "Green" room because they were able to watch TV and play video games without disturbing the rest of us. My husband loved the big screen TV in the kitchen which allowed him to keep up with the Orioles (the Satelite service included some kind of baseball package) but still be part of the conversations we were having while making dinner. The house was really clean and was well appointed with cooking utensils, etc. It's really worth every penny you spend.

This home was a great place for our family reunion of 25 people from age 1 - 93. (We rented a condo at Kiptopeke for overflow bedrooms.) There was plenty of room to relax throughout the house. The large TV room is off to the side and did not disturb others who were reading or visiting. Beautiful master bedroom. The private beach is relaxing and secluded. The walk down to the beach was steep for the very young and the very old - everyone else managed fine. We rented kayaks one day and enjoyed paddling out to the sunken ship barrier. We took daily evening strolls around the grounds and ended up on the upper deck overlooking the bay to view the amazing sunsets. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

This house is much larger than it appears in the photos. The setting was peaceful and serene and the views are spectacular! Make sure you wander around in the gardens, they are amazing, there are actually two overlooks at this property, both with a full view. Great home with plenty to do either at the house or within a short ride. We brought our jet skis with us. The boat ramp is a couple of minutes away at Kiptopeke State Park, cost $8 to put in (you can see the ramp from the beach at the house). We would keep our truck at the Park and ride the skis to the private beach, anchor and let others ride out while we sat back with a cold beer. We saw a school of dolphins that were following us, stopped the engines and they started to swim around. What a delight!! Another day we saw a sting ray when we rode out to Smith Island. It was great seeing the concrete barrier ships up close too. There is also a free boat ramp in the town of Cape Charles that we used and both were very nice. There was parking in the drive for our double trailer although it was very tight, if your not excellent at parking a trailer, I'd say park it on the road, the hose reached so you could wash the salt water out your skis or boat. Our grandchildren came to visit and the private beach was perfect for them to swim in and explore, we even had a bonfire on the beach a few times in the evening. We fished off the rocks, caught crabs, snorkled and floated on our rafts, all here at the house. I must say the den was a very welcome retreat after a hot day in the sun. Its a 15 min. ride into Cape Charles and what a beautiful little town, we ate at Kellys Gingernut Pub, which was very good. Watson Hardware was pretty neat too, we were looking for a waterproof map for the waterways (which I would definatly recommend) and we found one there. It took us about 5 min. to get to Sunset Grill which is waterfront. The Food Lion is about 10 min. away. The owners pay attention to detail in and around the home, and were very helpful and accommodating all the while giving us our privacy. We had such a wonderful time that we didnt want to leave and ended up staying at one of the owners rental cottage for an extra day. I had left behind a pair of earrings and they even mailed them to me. :) Thank you both for helping make our vacation a memorable one. Things I'd recommend taking: water shoes, off spray, floats, a small cooler, crabbing and fishing supplies and a flashlight.

The house is lovely witih several places to relax and get away from others for a while. For example, the kids played Wineopoly in the great room while others read and napped in the living room and still others chatted in the soft seating by the large kitchen area. The house is very well equiped. It's a lot of steps to the beach. The state park just down the beach had a couple of nice nature trails. We all had a good time.

My family stayed at this home the week of the 4th of July. The owners were really pleasant to deal with and answered all of our questions. We had an incredible time. The grounds are just lovely and are even better than the pictures (because the pictures can't capture the sound and smell of the ocean). The home was very clean and well maintained. We didn't have to worry about towels or bid linens which was a treat. There is a lookout where you can sit in peace and have coffee in the morning while the sunrises...it's the thought of sitting there again that will ge us through until next year's vacation! The house is really spacious and the layout of the bedrooms is perfect for a number of families vacationing together. It offers just enough privacy from each other. There's a big room for watching TV that's away from the rest of the house so some can watch TV while others sit and talk in the kitchen/dining room and neither group is bothered. There is internet access so you can plug back into life if you need to. The beach is beautiful and quite. We caught crabs on the rocks. The location is also nice since you are within 10 minutes of Cape Charles (and the golf course) and in the other direction it's within 40 minutes of Virginia Beach. This is an ideal vacation property for those that want to unplug and relax.

My family stayed at this lovely house in April of 2011. The house and the property were fantastic! The house was beautiful and very spacious. It was filled with so many interesting books, old family memorabilia, as well as the beautiful paintings made by one of the owners. From every corner of the house, we were able to either see the ocean or the meticulously planted gardens. It was such a joy to wake up every morning and look outside. It reminded us of our vacations in Tuscany, except that we had the ocean right in front of us. The beach was great! Our kids loved playing in the water, and we often took long morning walks as a family. Every evening, right before dinner, we had our cocktails as we watched the sunset on one of the decks overlooking the ocean. It was truly mesmerizing! The owners were extremely helpful and caring. We hope to be able to come back again!

We spend our Labor Day weekend in this beautiful house and had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, clean and thoughtfully prepared. Walking in the garden, spending time at the beach and enjoying the priceless view of the ocean were so relaxing and memorable. We are definitely going back to this piece of heaven.

We've vacationed at Cape Hatteras and Chincoteague many times, but this location was a really nice change. The property is beautifully landscaped, with several shady places to escape the sun. Truly unique! The private beach is very convenient, making trips back and forth from the house a breeze. The house is decorated beautifully, with details that make you feel like you are staying in someone's home - not just another rental property. Nice, nice, nice. The kitchen is well equipped and large enough for a big family to congregate in. The green room is at the far end of the house, away from the bedrooms, so that those who like to stay up late don't disturb the early risers. We enjoyed the wildlife (frogs in the pond, crabs and hermit crabs in the bay). We had a wonderful dinner at Aqua in Cape Charles. The owners are very nice and a pleasure to do business with. I would recommend this property to friends and family.

This is a perfect vacation property. The pictures accurately depict the setting and the beauty of the property and home. Our family enjoyed kayaking, canoing, fishing, swimming at the beach, and climbing the rocks, all within steps of the house. The property has easy access to Kiptopeke State Park, which features additional amenities. We highly recommend the property.

The listing and photos do not do this home justice. Our family just spent a week here with the utmost satisfaction. The owners are fabulous to deal with and the house is HUGE. The grounds are incredible and you are truly renting an Estate for the week and not just any other rental home. There are many stairs down to the beach from the bluff, but the homeowners have made it easy to navigate with the use of several landings large enough to be decks themselves. Stay up high, or go down to the beach, or you can stay many places in between. The sunsets are awesome. This is a perfect place for a restful and relaxing time away for a family reunion or a family with slightly older children. The homeowners daughter that manages the property was the best and so very helpful with local information to help fill in the times when the kids wanted more to do. Bottom line is that if you want an incredible, secluded, well maintained, estate that makes you feel like you are in Italy, then RENT THIS HOME.
