The size of the house was perfect for my children and extended family. The price is reasonable and the convenience of walking to the beach made the stay worthwhile.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so very much for the nice comment. We enjoyed having you rent our home the last two years to spend time with your family. We look forward to you renting again next summer. You were the perfect guests!

I just wanted to let you know how much we loved the house. It was awesome. We cound not have asked for a better place and time at the Outer Banks. I had never stayed there so all of it was new to us. We definitely have put this down as a must again for the season and the run. The weather was great. You and your kindnesss was great. I did everything except take the trash container to the street. I am so sorry. The kids loved it. Thanks so much for your hospitality!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just returned from our one week stay at Kneas cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The pictures do not convey how large and well laid out this house is. There is plenty of room to spread out and two separate living areas to accomodate everyone. I would recommend this to all families, large or small, for the great value it presents. The public beach access is a short walk away and easy to get to using the traffic light to the right. There is also a life guard on duty right there which is great for children. There is a K-mart close by for any beach items needed and we shopped at the Food Lion for groceries (well-stocked and reasonable) which is just down the street to the right. We really enjoyed Pigman's barbecue and my son had hang-gliding lessons at Jockey Ridge State Park. My only regret was that we could only stay for one week!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1962
About the owner: For over 40 years the Kneas family has vacationed at the Outer Banks in Kill Devils Hills, NC. Elizabeth and Harvey Kneas purchased this vacation home in 1960's just after the historic Ash Wednesday storm. The Kneas' brought the house as vacation home while residing in Portsmouth, Virginia, about 1 1/2 hours north of the OBX. Originally, a two bedroom flat roof cottage, the family has designed and remodeled the home into a perfect family gathering location. The Kneas family has spent many years at the "cottage" hosting reunions, birthdays, anniversaries and just summer fun beach time together. Sons Butch and Jim grew up spending lazy summer days at the beach and later working as lifeguards, bartenders and other odd jobs through high school and their college years. Now the Kneas' grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy the cottage; this third generation is learning to body surf, build sand castles, play putt putt and enjoy all the OBX has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Walking distance to both the beach, sound and shopping makes it the ideal OBX home. Located at mile post 6 1/2 it is close to the Wright Brothers Memorial, several miles of bike paths, and Jockey's Ridge for hang gliding and kite flying. Minutes away from Oregon Inlet where you can drive on the beautiful beaches, fish from the shoreline or charter a deep sea fishing boat.
