Property description

At the foot of the Alpilles and right in the center of one of the most charming and preserved villages of Provence, this is a renovated, stone Maison de Village, furnished with beautiful country furniture, carefully chosen Provencal pottery, a baby grand piano, and original artwork. It is on a narrow quiet road that climbs to the old village.

The master bedroom on the third floor has queen size bed with a beautiful window that looks out onto the church steeple and the Alpilles. It also has a spacious alcove under the eaves with a desk, sitting area with two stuffed armchairs, TV, and air conditioner. There is a modern full bathroom in this master bedroom with both a claw-foot bath and shower (brand-new fixed 'Rainforest' shower - head on the ceiling, not a hand-held!)
The second floor has two small bedrooms, each with a double bed. There is a toilet and modern bathroom on this floor too, with shower and washer/dryer.

The ground floor has a fully-equipped modern 'American' kitchen (who knows why the French call it that!), baby grand piano, long farm table in light pine wood, fireplace and sitting area with two leather arm chairs (where you will find plenty of maps and travel books to use in planning your day trips in the area). The house has a private cobblestone patio with colored flower pots for dining al fresco.
This house has WI-FI, DVD, TV, CD and radio with antenna on roof for France Musique. (classical radio, with many live transmissions from music festivals.

There are endless hiking trails, bike routes, and dozens of neighboring towns to visit. Vineyards and olive groves abound in every direction. It is ten minutes in the car to the beautiful village of St Remy, and 30-45 minutes from many others like Isle Sur la Sorge, Arles, Maussane, Gordes, and Vaison La Romaine.

It takes just seconds to walk to the local 'La Presse' or Libraire d'Eygalieres for your newspaper in the morning and just a few more steps down to the two bakeries and cafés. There is an impressive open market every Friday all along our street. A perfect retreat and a feast for the senses.
This is a vacation home where memories are made.


This is a non-smoking house. We ask for a departure no later than 10 AM in order for the house to be cleaned before the arrival of the next party- so check-in is no earlier than 4 pm. Thank you for consulting our calendar for availability before contacting us. We keep it up to date! I have more photos to send, too, if you are interested.

About the owner: I am a professional flutist in the Boston area and my husband is a wind energy consultant. We have 2 children, 19 and 24, also musicians. We bought this house with a 'seize-life-now' philosophy and it is the best decision we have ever made. I am beside myself with happiness when we are there. As we have wifi, it is nice to be able to work if needed- in the air-conditioned master bedroom or out in the courtyard under the laurel tree. It is the closest thing to paradise that I can imagine.

Why the Owner Chose Eygalieres:
We chanced upon this village on a trip to Provence and it was love at first sight. It was never our intention to buy a house here, but we found ourselves walking into an agency that first morning and asking what was available-- just in case. We have become completely integrated in village life. For us being right in town makes all the difference. We both speak French and have to keep a social calendar for all the dinners under the stars that the French hold so dear. Beautiful countryside abounds in every direction- each morning I walk in a different direction past olive groves, almond trees, wild irises. Eygalieres is also just a short ride from dozens of other charming towns as well -- St Remy, Arles, Avignon, Isle-sur-la Sorge, Vaison La Romaine to name a few. But no other village can match its charm.

The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
For anyone looking for a baby grand piano, this is a rare find in a rental. We keep it in tune, and the house is known as the 'Maisons des Musiciens' A house in the village is the best of both worlds- rolling out of bed to a cafe or bakery in the morning, but just minutes away on foot or bike to explore exquisite countryside or go hiking in the Alpilles. Open markets with linens, olive oils, honeys, and cheeses abound. A sense of such serenity and quiet in the house in the morning. When I wake up, I open the window to cool air that smells of jasmine and herbs and a stunning view of the Alpilles out the master BR window. Our house is in what people refer to as the old village - on a narrow street- and one can continue to climb only minutes to the top for a spectacular view of the town below. Because we have a baby grand piano, professional musicians can have serious chamber music rehearsals in our home, or pianists can use the house as a retreat for serious practicing. My daughter and I give a recital each summer in the local church. Things to do Eygalières : Walk to the medieval ruins at the top of town for a panoramic view of the Alpilles. Numerous restaurants, wine -tastin offering meals that range from simple to exquisite. Find your hearts' desires at the Friday morning market. To discover in Saint Rémy de Provence (12 km) : The village full of shops and small squares. The Roman village of Glanum The Cloître Saint-Paul where Van Gogh spent a very prolific year before his death The Musée des Alpilles The Wednesday morning market The numerous villages of the Massif des Alpilles (the little Alps). ( Maussane, Mouriès, Les Baux, Eyguières, Fontvielle) Avignon, The Palais des Papes and the Pont Saint Bénezet, the Theater festival in July. Arles, les Alyscamps , the Roman arena and theater, the International festival of photography in July. It goes on and on but I have reached the limit that VRBO allows in this box!
