The Condo worked perfectly for 4 adults and two grandkids (age 2 & 4).The complex is quiet, so we did not really hear the neighbors. The unit is on ground floor, making it easy to cart stuff in and out. Beds are very comfortable. Some little extra's we used from the closet (stroller, games, etc). Beach access was fine, kids enjoyed all those steps.. they were not bad. Beach was clean and wonderful. Very clean, upscale community. TV's were great. Decorated nicely. We felt safe there. The security, keyless lock worked fantastic. We used the washer/dryer. Did lots of cooking including Christmas dinner. A very comfortable place and would recommend it. I was a bit nervous paying up front and all without knowing owners. Thankfully, it worked out fine.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

My children and I stayed here during the middle of summer and it was fantastic. We knew we were going to have a good week the moment we walked in the door. First of all, the unit is beautiful; immaculate and warm, it has the charm of a family beach house. The beach itself is only a short walk but one you will want to make many times over. There are also numerous fun walks from the property, including one through a marine life refuge that can take you over to the marina. We also enjoyed the community pool. The weather was fantastic, and it was so refreshing to actually feel cool at night during the summer! The unit is close to three grocery stores, lots of great dining choices, and quaint shops for when you don't want to be at the beach. We also took an easy day trip down to the San Diego Zoo. It takes about an hour to get there. For those of you who would like to take a boat over to Catalina Island, there's one that leaves the Dana Point Marina daily. We loved our stay and hope to return soon! p.s. - yes, the Pacific Ocean is cold, but we all actually loved it. As my kids like to say, "Get in - you'll get used to it!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We recently spent a week at the Sand Dollar in Dana Point. We had a party of 8, including 5 children. We would definitely recommend the Sand Dollar to families looking for great accommodations at a reasonable price. The place was absolutely spotless when we arrived and the furnishings are fabulous. The two bedrooms and pull-out couch were more than enough for our party, and we never felt cramped at all since there are also two patios to which to enjoy the beautiful SoCal weather. The location is perfect, almost right in the middle of Hollywood and San Diego, so we felt like we were right in the middle of everything. We drove I-5 most of the time and had no traffic problems going to Hollywood, the beaches along the coast, or the San Diego Zoo. We jogged every single day along the ocean front boardwalk and beautiful beach right across the street from the unit. When I say "across the street", keep in mind there is very little traffic so don't worry about being across the street. Most of the beaches in SoCal are below the cliffs, so most of the rental properties are going to be "across the street". There is also a nice little breakfast/coffee shop which we enjoyed walking to from the unit. A fully-stocked grocery store is also less than a mile away so you can eat in when you want as the Sand Dollar's kitchen has everything you will need for dining. Dana Point is very safe and quite "ritzy" as the Ritz-Carlton is literally right next door to the complex and within walking distance. The streets and beaches in Dana Point were extremely clean at all times. If you want an "upscale" town, this is the place to be. We also enjoyed the very large pool in the complex as it was quite nice to jump in after returning from the beach. The pool is close enough to the unit so you can easily walk to it but also far enough away from the unit so you don't hear any noise at all from the pool. Finally, I can't say enough about how helpful the owners were as well with all of our inquiries and requests. They treat their guests "right" and get back to you very quickly with helpful answers. Trust me, you can spend a lot of time searching for places to stay in SoCal or you can instead save a ton of time and just focus on the reviews for the Sand Dollar. They are all GREAT for a reason. It is all extremely positive. Go and you will not be disappointed!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.

Perfect location, perfect weather and perfect accomodations for a family of 5. Condo is beautifully decoratedl and very comfortable and only one block from the beach. Surrounding Dana Point area is beautiful and very clean. Beach is on the end of several cliffs and was not too crowded on week days . Condo is a short drive to shopping, dining and amusement parks (Disneyland was a 40 minute drive). Would definitely go again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just wanted to say thank you for our great vacation experience. You and your team went above and beyond our expectations. We have stayed at a lot of “time share” condos and assumed this would be similar. Your detail with the welcome gifts, the amount of kitchen supplies and tools, the sand toys, games, movies, beach equipment…on and on; were a very welcomed surprise. The unit was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed three fun days at the beach and tide pools and three great days at Disneyland. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. In fact, I have had several ask about it because we had told them what a wonderful experience it was. Williams FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful week visiting Dana Point and the surrounding area. We loved the easy access to the beach, and I-5 so we could get to the many nearby attractions. The condo was wonderful. It was well maintained with comfortable beds, and plenty of room for our entire family. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach as well as the spa & pool in the complex. The owner was a pleasure to work with. We will definitely stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the Sand Dollar for 2 months and had an excellent stay. We felt right at home very quickly. The unit was perfect for 2 people and was fully capable of handling 4 adults and 2 children quite comfortably for several days. We found the unit pretty well equipped and comfortable. We loved the location in Dana Point (right across from park and beach as well as many places to walk) which was convenient to San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano. It was also close to I5 and 405 which made it easy to get to Disneyland to the north and San Diego to the south. The owners were attentive to our needs and excellent to work with. Our stay was great and we will return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

Our family had such a wonderful time visiting Dana Point and the surrounding areas. The Sand Dollar condo is so nice and really was perfect for our family. We loved the makeover! The condo is so cozy, comfortable and clean. The beds were very comfortable and the kids loved the room with the bunk beds and TV! The owner's were so helpful with all of our questions and getting us prepared for the trip. Once we were there, we had everything we needed. The description of the condo is right on. We loved walking down to the beach everyday. The sunsets were amazing! It was so beautiful...missing it already! We would recommend this property to friends and family and would stay there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you Todd for a wonderful week in your Dana Point Condo! We stayed the first week of September to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday and the condo was perfect. The pool was lovely, the beach was within walking distance (although a little bit of a hill walk for my dad and my two boys) and there were lots of activities nearby that we enjoyed. Not to mention it was the perfect week to visit Disneyland. Todd and his wife were so accommodating and made sure that we had everything we needed. We look forward to staying there again in the future.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

I can't even begin to describe how absolutely perfect this vacation rental is in Dana Point. This was our second stay in this beautiful condo and we absolutely love it. Our daughters (age 21, 18 and 15)are already talking about next year! We have the best vacations when we come here! The condo's location, view, sunsets and access to the beach are all spectacular. The home is fully furnished and stocked with all the necessities --- plenty of dishes, pots, glasses, towels, beach towels and even a washer and dryer. It also has everything you need for the beach -- chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, sand toys and even a surf board! Todd, the owner, is extremely helpful and is always a pleasure to deal with. We can hardly wait to come back again next summer!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children.

About the owner: We commit to providing everything you need for a great family vacation at the beach. The Sand Dollar is a perfect location for all the attractions in southern California with perfect weather year around.
Why the Owner Chose Monarch Beach:
We chose Dana Point since it had more parks, activities, restaurants and city amenities than most beach cities. Music concerts, whale festivals, outdoor movies are just a few fun activities in addition to the beach. Neighboring Laguna Beach and San Clemente expand the options with just a 15 minute drive.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Our condo is in Niguel Beach Terrace, directly across the street from Strands Park and the new Strands at Headland development. We share the same beach as the Ritz Carlton, at a fraction of the price. The new beach funicular is 'one of a kind' and a fun experience for young and old.
