I had so much fun staying at this apartment! Upon arrival we met our gracious host, who showed us the unit and several other features. The fresh flowers in the kitchen and in the entry way of the building were a very nice welcoming touch. Since a member of my party had a conference to attend in another area of town, our host had taken the time to pick up a bus brochure and gave us transportation options. He also suggested several restaurants within walking distance. What a wonderful host!
We loved the apartment in this historic building. One wall even had exposed brick. The large size and layout gave us privacy and quiet when we needed it, but a nice living room with a flat screen TV and iPod player for social time.
I can’t say enough about the kitchen. So many utensils and gadgets, even a gourmet chef could find what was needed. Our host left us several “extras” like tea, coffee, spices and other goodies.
All in all, this was a great place to stay for a classy bear like me. I can highly recommend it for folks that have business in our nation’s capital, or just want to enjoy a vacation and see the city.

We spend 5 nights at this location a couple of weeks ago. The apartment is as described, with several exceptions. First, there are no sleeping accomodations in the living room. There is a pull out sofa, but no bedding is provided. There were 4 of us, 2 adults & 2 children and we were provided 2 blankets, 4 towels & 2 washclothes for our entire stay, which was certainly not enough. We made use of the laundry facilities in the building, which we found out after we had already washed our clothes that the dryers were out. We were left with 2 large loads of soaking wet clothes & no assistance from the owner. I emailed & called with no response and still have never heard back. DO NOT plan on using the laundry facilities if you stay here, the maintenance man said they knew the dryers were broken but forgot to put signs up (he was extremely rude). We also had a problem with ants in the master bathroom. Again, I tried to contact the owners but got no response so my husband had to treat the ants. The location of this unit is fantastic and the property has so much potential, but I think it needs new ownership before it can reach it's full potential. The outside grounds are overgrown so much that you almost can't see the sidewalks. For the $$$, I would recommend looking around before settling on this location.Did you find this review helpful? My friends and I arrived on a Sunday and though the property manager could not meet us there, we had all of the information we needed to access the condo. The place was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had everything we needed to cook meals and thanks to previous tenants, there were spices and coffee left in the cupboards. If we needed something else (extra towels, blankets, etc) the hosts were quick to respond to our texts and calls. The only drawback is that the second bedroom backs an alley where people are constantly moving through and being loud. The ceiling is thin and there were children above us and we could hear heavy footsteps throughout the night. However, that is minor compared to the convenience of the location to the metro, grocery store, and shops. We didn't need personal transportation as the metro was only a couple of blocks away and we could carry groceries or carry out from the multiple eateries close by. Overall, I would recommend staying at this condo to my friends traveling the DC area. Thank you, VRBO!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Very much enjoyed our visit to DC. We were a family of 4 adults and 1 child and found the accomodations comfortable and true to description. We were able to take the train and even found reasonable parking prices in garages. Great location, nice restaurants within walking distance. Appreciated being able to reach owner with our questions.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apartment is a first floor unit with two beds and two baths. It's a nice quiet place with plenty of room and is close to a grocery store and some restaurants. The Metro and the bus stops are close and there is plenty of options to get where you need to go. It was a friendly neighborhood full of local families and very close to a grocery store and a convenience store. Well worth it!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Description and photos were accurate. The Unit is very convenient to Metro and bus stations. All the rooms were a good size. This is a no frills apartment. Everything was in good working order, although we needed the maintenance staff to fix the Cable TV so that we could operate it. Property was well maintained; however, there were silverfish and some bugs (not cockroaches) in one bathroom. The owner was good enough to let us park our rental car for two nights at no cost. Perfect for 2 couples or a family. Again, not fancy, but very functional, adequate!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.

2 adults and 2 kids stayed in apt. Clean and comfortable. More towels and better locks on the door(s) would be improvements I suggest for the landlord. Lots of place to eat, walk to the Metro not bad even at 10 pm at night. Would stay again at this apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

We stayed for 8 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat! The building and unit was very well maintained -- it seemed like all the furnishings were brand new (Ikea) and it was very comfortable for our family of 4. Loved the character of the old building and the obvious remodeling that brought it up to date. The area of Columbia Heights itself offers lot's of diversity -- we wish all communities could have that feel. We felt very safe and everyone we talked with was extremely nice. Convenient access to the Giant Foodstore, DC USA Mall (Target, who needs anything else) and numerous other food and coffee joints. The metro was a short 3 block walk away and we opted to use that versus any other mode of transportation (not sure where you would actually park a car near all the tourist sites anyway!). The Columbia Heights Metro stop is on the Green and Yellow lines and is just a couple of stops to the transfer stations for all the other lines -- you can get anywhere using the metro and some good comfortable shoes! We loved "living local" -- it beats hotels hands-down! If you are looking for a trip to DC, we strongly recommend this VRBO location.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

It's an old building. It's noisy due to the traffic and the fire dept down the street. The other tenants try to be considerate. The walk to the Metro is "somewhat" close. This place is for 4 people, period. Be prepared to spend a lot more if you want a lot more. The condo was clean and comfortable! The neighborhood seems a little daunting, but it's OK. This condo/apt is on the bottom floor, so that is a plus.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.
