This was a nice little place to stay. We had four adults and two kids and never felt cramped. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The yard was nice and leads right down to the water. We spent many hours floating in the water during the day and had a fire in the fire pit every night. The water has a very gradual depth and is perfect for young ones. We also brought a boat and were able to pull it right up near the dock and use a mooring post provided by the neighbors who are also the owners parents. The town of Cedar was perfect also. There's a tavern/restaurant called the Cedar Inn. They were always friendly and had decent food. The Rustic Inn, right on your way from the cottage to town, had fantastic family style breakfast! I mean fantastic! There is also a gas station/market in town, Buntings, that has everything you need. The taco stand on the south edge of town was great too, perfect for one of those days were your swimming and everyone is getting hungry and nobody is cleaned up yet. A sack of tacos, chips, guac and salsa will put the seal on a great day! The Sleeping Bear Dunes are a must, along with Leland. Of course a day in Traverse City will make everyone happy too. I would also recommend a winery tour, we made up our own and the wines were great. The Boathouse Vinyards had the best grounds to sit and enjoy your tastings, right on the water with several adirondack chairs that you can move about. The only negative that I can come up with is that the fishing was less than spectacular. Lake Lelanau is big, and maybe we just didn't know the best way to catch fish there. MY brother in law and I were basically shut out, we've both been fishing our whole lives. My niece did catch a four pound bass though, us men were both proud of her but she wouldn't share her secret. Have fun, you'll love it!

The cabin was well appointed and tastefully decorated. The walleye fishing was great! We especially enjoyed the helpful neighbors. The cabin's location was perfect for us, half way between Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. The local grocery in Cedar had everything we needed, and we used the stone bbq and fire ring. One night we stayed up until 1:30 a.m. watching the stars with no interference from city lights..awesome. Be sure to check out the Cherry Wine from Bel Lago winery nearby, it is incredible with chocolate cake or brownies. We hope to stay here again.

How to spend a fabulous week...
How to spend a fabulous week...
My husband and I just returned with our 11-month-old daughter from a week-long stay at this cottage. It was nothing short of amazing. The weather was beautiful and the place was perfect. It's clean, simple and has everything you need. There was plenty of room for the three of us. We set our daughter's playpen up in the second bedroom beside the double bed (show in the pictures) and it just fit. There are three beds, two are double-sized. The mattress in the non-bunk bed room is quite soft but the other one is better. The kitchen is well set up and there's a charcoal grill outside. We bought delicious food from Oryana in Traverse City and had lots of memorable meals sitting in the shade outside the cottage. The lot is very deep (you could play bocce ball!) and has a perfect entry into the water for babies. Because of the sandbar, water isn't over your knees for about 25m. The water isn't too cold, especially compared to other lakes in the area. We also enjoyed just hanging out on the dock. The lake was ridiculously quiet (we only saw one or two speedboats go by the entire week, although we noticed a lot of people had jetskis on their docks -- it may get busier later in the season. The cottage-owner was super relaxed but sent prompt replies in e-mail communication and provided helpful tips, like not to forget our linens and towels (I definitely would have forgotten!). The parents of the cottage owner live year-round next door and they were wonderful. We found it reassuring to know that we could ask them any cottage-related questions we had (e.g., how does one use a charcoal grill?!). The cottages are all relatively close together (at least compared to Ontario cottage country!) but we still felt like we had privacy. The area around this cottage is fantastic. We adored the taco stand in Cedar and the Cedar General Store. Adorable surrounding towns (Leland's Fishtown is really cool) and don't miss the Sleeping Bear National Park -- the Scenic Drive is a must. North Bar Lake is great and a good way to see a quieter Lake Michigan shore, too. Traverse City is fantastic. I had no idea Michigan had all these great places. If you're traveling with a little person, you may want to consider bring a few portable child-proofing safety measures, like electrical outlet covers, a gate, or cupboard door latches. If you're on the fence about this place, I think you should go for it. You won't regret it.

Fun on Lake Leelanau
Fun on Lake Leelanau
Perfect weather added to an enjoyable stay at this quaint cottage. Tied a tube to the dock and floated away the afternoons. Evenings in the kayak were wonderfully relaxing. The cottage felt quite roomy with two eating areas and a breakfast counter. We played board games on the porch and enjoyed meals on the outdoor deck. Had two bonfires with s'mores lakeside - yum. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you might need. Rustic fun! PS - don't miss Pierce Stocking Drive, sunsets at Good Harbor and eating at Boonedocks

GREAT VACATION ONCE AGAIN
GREAT VACATION ONCE AGAIN
My wife and I have been coming to this location for years. Nice open floor plan in the cottage. Very Comfortable. You can do as you please. The sandy bottom is great. (I hate weeds) Plenty of places to travel to from the water. You will want to come back year after year just as we have. Now we will have to start booking more in advance because the secret is finally out. Hope all who get lucky enough to stay at this charming Cabin enjoy everybit as much as we have throughout the years. Dale & Lynne
