We chose to do a last minute off season family vacation and stumbled upon the Siesta Jewell. The location was perfect. Just steps from the beach and village area. My husband and I slept in the bedroom and our 2 small children on the pull out couch. We had enough space to relax for a couple of hours before heading back out to the beach or pool. We went swimming every day that we were there. We met a family staying in the back house and they had children as well. My kids enjoyed playing with the neighbor kids the best. This property was very nice overall. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything from a blender to a crockpot, so it was great to be able to cook. The best part was the location - just a short walk to the beach, and we also really enjoyed the screened porch for breakfasts. The bathroom was nice and the rain showerhead was great. The only real problem was the mattress - it was extremely lumpy and had absolutely no support. When my thin husband came to bed, it sank so much I had to sleep on the couch all week. The owner said she was unaware and would replace it, but this was obviously not something that happened overnight, and there was no compensation offered.Owner response: I know you find it hard to believe that I was unaware of this problem but no one brought it to my attention and we did not see this in January. We had guests who stayed Jan. 9 - March 9 and even though I had several contacts with them they never mentioned the bed as being a problem. They have reserved the same unit for Feb. 1 - March 8 next yr. (5 wks) We had a couple on March 23 - 30, who also went ahead and made a reservation for 2014. I contacted the mattress company the day after I received your email and they came out and replaced the mattress (2yrs old). I hate to think that you are left with the impression that we are careless home owners. That is not our style as we truly want our guests to enjoy their stay just as we would want to have a pleasant experience. I wish you would have contacted me during your stay so you could see how responsive and proactive we are about issues that arise. I do appreciate that you took the time to write a review and that you were fair about pointing out the positive with negative.
