High above the Mediterranean see stands CapoVaticano, a majestic granite cape known for its beauty from which you enjoy breath-taking views of the see and the Aeolian Islands and truly spectacular sunsets with the volcano Stromboli puffing away.
In 2004 the French Guide “Editions Grand Voyageurs” ranked Capo Vaticano as one of the three most beautiful Italian beaches among the 100 most beautiful in the world. You may access the beach below by a private stairway carved into the granite. Several other beaches are just minutes away by car. There you may also rent a boat to explore the coast and enjoy diving, sailing and fishing.
Secluded in the vegetation the one bedroom cottage has a large living room/kitchen and a porch where you can relax or dine. In total privacy you forget the rest of the world enjoying nature at its best.
Take a stroll through the property and take advantage of the wonderful gardens, pick your own vegetables, figs, grapes and don’t forget to taste the famous red onions from Tropea. Shops, restaurant and “pizzerie” are only minutes away by foot or by car.
Capo Vaticano is an excellent starting point for day trips or short excursions. Not to be missed, only 12 km away is the magnificent town of Tropea. With its beautiful architecture, Tropea has kept its urban structure dating to the XVII and XVIII centuries. Walk around town and admire the palaces and the numerous churches among which the Duomo, in Norman style. Tropea also offers great shopping, especially for local pottery and linens.
Sicily is only two hours away, from Capo Vaticano on clear days you can see the volcano Etna. On the way to Sicily you may stop in Reggio Calabria and visit the Archeological Museum where the world renowned “Bronzi di Riace” are located.
Day trips to the Aeolian Islands via hydrofoil are available from Capo Vaticano and from Tropea.

Year Purchased: 1956
About the owner: The property was purchased in 1956 by my father, the world renowned author Giuseppe Berto. A relentless promoter of the beauty, the civilization and the rural architecture of the Italian South he preserved the cape from the intrusion of modern development. My mother Manuela lives in the property and is available to answer your requests or needs, weather you are looking for a good local restaurant or an exciting fishing trip.
