I recently stayed at this lovely home for 5 days and 4 nights. It was myself and 4 friends for the BCS Championship game. The house it close to everything - 10 miles to the stadium - 25 minutes to Miami where I went twice. 1 mile from local downtown Hollywood where there the supermarket, pharmacy and all restaurants and bars are located. Approx 1 mile to the beach which was great. One evening we walked there because it was so nice out. As for the house it is very spacious! The living area large and open. Hanging outside next to the pool was great and did that every moment we could. The pool was used everyday no matter what. The bedrooms were all very cleaned with all the bathrooms properly stocked which I was surprised about because I never rented a house that supplied so much stuff. The kitchen had everything you can think of, the kids if we had any had plenty of toys. I would rent this house again if I ever came back to the Hollywood Beach area hands down.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

First, the good things: The kitchen is great and well stocked. Great pool table. The house is in a nice location near the Hollywood Beach, the downtown area, and the Gulfstream Mall. The bath in the master bedroom is great. There are nice towels; plenty of beach towels. The bad things were: The third bedroom was basically unusable. The mattress was old, you could feel the springs popping out. The owners had a lot of their personal things in the closet so the adults using this room had to live out of their suitcase. The bathroom in this bedroom was really small with an unusable shower. The water would not drain and there was no drain stopper, so the owner called a plumber, who found a rag stuck in the pipes. Also, there was an odd showerhead that could only be raised about 5’5”, otherwise the water would spray out of the attachment at the wall. We had to bend down to wash our hair or face if we wanted to use this shower. Lastly, the door to this bedroom would not close. The owner said, “it was an antique”, but I say it needs to be replaced. You should also know that the pool is not heated. We had fabulous weather during our Christmas week, but since the water was too cold to be in the pool, we would have been happy to lounge on the pool deck. Unfortunately, most of the pool deck is in the shade of the house all day. We came to southern Florida to enjoy the warm sunshine (as I assume most people do), and since we couldn’t be in the pool or on the deck, the pool was unusable, which was disappointing. The owners need to have some additional things stocked in the house: some garbage bags (there were none), light bulbs (several lights were burned out), and some windex (there is a really nice glass dining room table that we needed to wipe clean after using). The fuse box is in the locked garage. (We blew a fuse when 2 people were using hair blowers). Someone needs to manage this property. The owners live in New York. When we arrived in Florida on the first night, the key did not open the front door. When we called the owners, no one answered. (We thought we were scammed!) We finally discovered that the key worked a back door. When we called the owner with our questions, she told us that we “needed to realize that this wasn’t a hotel.” We would have preferred to NOT have to call during OUR vacation as well! These calls would have been eliminated if they had a system in place to manage the property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed in this house for a family reunion/early Thanksgiving celebration. It was perfect for our needs. The kitchen is very large and very well-equipped, which was great. We swam laps in the pool every day and loved it. The setup of the bedrooms is really nice, space for everyone to stretch out and have some privacy if they wanted it. The location, near to the beach, was really nice and the neighborhood was lovely. Also, the owner was very gracious about being flexible with our arrival/departure times, this was really helpful as we had people traveling long distances with varying flight schedules. I would definitely not only recommend this house, but I imagine that I will rent it again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This home had all the amenities. Photographs reflect the actual condition of the property. Fabulous large deep pool allowed laps or diving from the board. The outdoor covered table and furniture allowed easy outdoor living. The owner was available by email and solved a problem efficiently. The kitchen was full featured and well supplied for four or more. Quiet and safe neighborhood was centrally located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami for day trips. A short walk to the North Hollywood Lake but not really a beach. Short drive to the ocean beaches and Hollywood Broadwalk. The pool table added a bit of nostalgia and a sense of history. The only negative was no telephone. I worry about being able to dial for help in an emergency with the pool. All in all a terrific stay and wonderful property. We would be happy to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My wife and I, along with our two kids (ages 4 & 6), stayed in this lovely home for a week during Spring Break. Our initial intention was to stay close to the beach and make it a "beach vacation" and on our first day at the house we made the short walk to the beach and had a wonderful time. The kids loved all that Hollywood Beach had to offer. By the second day, and with slight sunburns, we opted to stay by the pool, which then became our default location for the rest of our stay. This pool is HUGE. The kids loved jumping off the diving board and my wife and I enjoyed lounging while still being in sight of them. While we didn't do much cooking, this house has a great kitchen. We walked into “downtown” Hollywood on a couple occasions, which has some great restaurants. The neighborhood was very peaceful and the lush landscaping adds to the "tropical getaway" feel of this home. The owner was very sweet in several conversations we had with her, both before and after our stay, and really strived to make sure all our needs were met. My family truly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to future vacations in this home.Recommended for: Families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Hollywood Lakes:
We bought this house as our primary residence. We love that Hollywood has all the charm of a 'small town', but access to 'big city' amenities when you want them. Food & Wine Festival, Super Bowl, Concerts, Night Clubs, Museums are all available IF you want to venture out. The beach is amazing and downtown Hollywood has great restaurants, shops and nightclubs. The City of Hollywood also does some great programming at the ArtsPark downtown.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our pool is ENORMOUS. Even though we have a great beach close by - a lot of times we just hang out at the house. The antique pool table is fun, too. We have school age children, so we also take advantage of several parks with playgrounds (2 are walking distance from the house) and tennis courts.
