This little gem is exactly as advertised (rustic) and a perfect base for Yosemite exploring. Clean and comfortable, full kitchen, nice fireplace and great hot tub. We enjoyed the dozens of deer we saw every day, and the deck is gigantic. If you are looking for a casual, out of the way place and some peace and quiet, this is it.

We spent three amazing nights gazing at the stars from the wonderful hot tub. By day we relaxed on the deck, reading and enjoying the outdoors. The seclusion and privacy were exactly what we wanted after spending three days fighting traffic near SF. An added bonus was being so close to Yosemite! We're from west central Wisconsin and were worried about the heat. But we found the 95 degree heat to be so dry it was soothing and comfortable, not like our days with stifling humidity. We only turned on a fan and never tried the AC. Our stay reminded me of my parents' cabin in northern Wisconsin which we traveled to for 30 memorable years. Their private cabin had very few updates since construction and neither does this one, but that is what brought back so many memories. Besides, we came to enjoy the hot tub and the deck. We choose to use the first floor bedroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We left all the windows open day and night so we could listen to all the sounds of the animals and the breeze through the trees. Awesome. The bottom line is if you like privacy and peacefulness at a value price, this is the place for you. Heather and Steve were wonderful to work with, and there was some great reading on the wall maps and in coffee table books about their amazing endeavors!

My girlfriend and I were seeking a secluded and scenic spot to stay for three nights while we visited Yosemite, played acoustic guitar, and wrote. This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Upon arrival the cabin was very clean, and we found the amenities (washer and dryer, stove, fridge, shower with good water pressure) more than sufficient. There is no AC, but there were two portable fans that kept us cool at night. The benefit of having a really nice and warm hot tub for nights under the stars and mornings watching the sun rise on the Sierra foothills cannot be overstated. Awesome! The setting is perfect for lovers of the outdoors. While there are neighbors nearby, no other properties are visible from the cabin's very large deck. We saw deer and wild turkeys roaming the property. Between the tall pine trees in the yard is a beautiful view of the foothills that changes throughout the day with the changing sunlight. The couple of dirt roads you take from the highway to the cabin are a little rough, but we had no problems navigating them in a Honda sedan. Definitely don't need an SUV. You couldn't be much better positioned for visiting Yosemite aside without actually being in the park. The cabin is just a few minutes' drive through country roads to the highway leading directly to Yosemite and is closer to the park than Mariposa proper. This cabin may not be fancy or ultramodern, but it is clean and spacious and has all of the amenities you need. And it is off the charts in all of the aspects that mattered to my girlfriend and me -- scenic setting, great hot tub, and proximity to Yosemite. Highly recommended!

This is a great little house outside Yosemite. The area is quiet and away from the noise, but close enough to Mariposa to get anything you may need. The drive to get into Yosemite is just as beautiful as inside the park with plenty of places to stop and look. Deer in or around the house every day. A bit hotter than we expected, and the a/c is not a central unit, it is a mobile unit, but we worked it out and our vacation was great! Plenty of space for 4 adults and a child. Heather was great to work with, good responses to text and phone calls, and the deposit was returned very quickly. I would recommend this as a place for a family to stay.

Thanks to the owners for working with us kind of last minute for a 3 day stay near Yellowstone. Their cabin had everything the vrbo ad said. Highlights were certainly the upstairs loft with room for plenty of kiddos, the awesome stone fireplace that warmed the interior, and the hot tub out on the deck: powerful jets and really warm. The drive to and from the park took about 55 minutes average; but we saw wildlife everyday and the non-drivers can cerainly enjoy wonderful views along the way. I would recommend this property to anyone from families to couples.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful mid-week stay. The description and photos were accurate. This is a quaint rustic house far enough away from the tourist crowds to offer peace, quiet and star gazing but close enough to Yosemite for easy access to trails and the beauty of the valley floor, plus close to Mariposa (cafe at River Rock Inn is tasty!). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would stay again and recommend to friends. Owner was prompt and friendly in responding to questions and processing. Only recommendation is to have housekeeping better sweep out cobwebs from ceilings and deck.

My wife and I spent 5 nights at this property with our teenage son The owner worked with us by reducing the nightly rate by half when we had a midnight arrival from San Francisco on the first day. Calls and questions were promptly answered or returned. Easy to book /pay for. Home was in nice location: very quiet, 3-4 acres and nice and dark at night. Many of the amenities in the residence need some TLC: bathroom- toilet handled needed to be jiggled to get toilet to stop flowing/bathtub- less than visually pleasing/ Kitchen- older dated kitchen appliances not well maintained. We were there during a hot spell- A/C worked the first night then stopped- owner said A/C not showing in listing so not guaranteed. Outside not really well maintained- dozens of cob webs; insect and small animal droppings (We know this is in the winderness but did not look like anyone kept the place clean). Main bedroom- beds older but ok. Ceiling fan noisy. Our son said upstairs room was nice with use of fan. The listing pictures showed an older place and we took a chance. Local activies- Yosemite Valley- WOW! approx 1 hour away. Best shopping and restaurants in Oakhurst (25-35 min). Not likely to recommend to friends or family.

Owner response: I have never in my time renting this place had to deal with such DIFFICULT PEOPLE!!!!!! I was very specific about this rental being a "Cozy Cabin". These people were very rude and disrespectful to us and our home there! We have made some changes to our rental after this review; however, if you read all our reviews both before and after these peoples stay you will notice everyone else LOVES IT!!! HMMMMMMMM??????

Possibly one of the best value rentals in the Yosemite area. It is extremely private and very secluded -- perfect for couples and even larger parties (there were 6 of us). You will definitely want a truck or an SUV to make it up the driveway, especially, I imagine, during the winter months and the rainy season. The outdoor deck has an amazing panorama of the foothill valleys, and you can enjoy the stars at night from the hot tub.

This quiet, rustic cabin is a perfect place from which to explore Yosemite and the Sierras. Very clean and cozy, with nice amenities and a big, beautiful fireplace. We had a great time and the quiet environment was a perfect de-compression from the hectic crowds in Yosemite Valley during the Memorial Day week-end. The owners are very communicative and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves on our trip to the Sierras and this clean, friendly cabin was great to come "home" to!
