Marion cottage description
Located close to the Marion Art Center, the cottage is a two story home with a deck. The deck has a table with seating for four: there are two chairs on the deck and another two folding chairs in the L/R closet which can be brought outside for dining and back inside afterward (not outside chairs). The deck is a modest size, so you could have company visit and enjoy the deck using the additional 6 folding chairs in the basement. We estimate that you could have up to 10 people, at a gathering, on the deck, on folding chairs. The home is renovated and updated.
There are four twin beds, two in each of the two bedrooms. A queen size inflatable 'bed in a bag' is located in the L/R closet for overnight guests. Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided for the inflatable bed. This is why we say that the home could possibly sleep 6, with two on the inflatable in the L/R. The bathroom is older cottage style, but clean with a modern shower head system, new sink/toilet and a 100 year old cast iron tub for a neck-high soaking & relaxing tub bath. BYOBath salts...treat yourself while on vacation. The kitchen is small- Euro Style, and has a table for two, cafe seating. There is no dining room, however the living room is an over-sized room and there is a dining table, with expandable fold-up sides and chairs against one wall. There are four folding chairs in the L/R closet to accommodate guests at the dining room table. The living room has recessed lighting, with a dimmer switch, highlighting a wall of bookcases with books and videos/Music CD's. There is an apartment size washer/dryer unit and basic cable TV. There is a TV in the living room and another in the front bedroom. We have beach buckets and shovels and beach toys, beach chairs and blankets. There is an outdoor bike rack. There is off street parking for two cars. Bring your bikes, kayaks, golf clubs and enjoy! Don't forget the boat!
Keywords: The Cottage is a 900 sq.ft. single family home located in the heart of Marion Village, one block to the Library, Marion General Store, Beverly Yacht Club, Marion Art Center, churches, book store, gift shop, antique shop and post office. Tabor Academy Campus is within walking distance. Fish from the two public docks and golf at the local 9 hole 'Little Marion' course on Point Road, with several gorgeous, waterfront holes/legs/tees/greens/views of Buzzards Bay. Marion is about an hour and fifteen minutes from Boston and fifty minutes from Providence, RI. Marion is twenty-five minutes from the Bourne Bridge, entry to Cape Cod. Bring your boat!

Marion Cottage rental
Marion Cottage rental
We rented the cottage for the month of July 2010 and had a very enjoyable stay there. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the owners were very accommodating. They will provide you with helpful information to find activities to enhance your stay in the area. If you enjoy biking or kayaking this is an excellent location as you can get to the town beach for boating and there are local bike trails nearby as well. This little home would be great for a couple or a small family to explore the hidden charms of the south coast of Massachusetts and nearby Rhode Island.

We were totally happy with the cottage and it was all that it was represented to be and more. Our friends from England who shared the cottage with us loved the comfort and cleanliness of it. It was well supplied with all of our needs and we felt more like visiting family than paying guests. We will definitely visit again!!

About the owner: I have lived in Marion, MA for many years. My cottage (for rent)is over one hundred years old and has been updated and renovated. The home was once located on another lot in the village. The owner wanted to build a larger home on the 'footprint' and sold the old house for $1. As time went by, I bought the old house from the owner and transported it via flatbed truck to where she now sits. A photo of the home sitting on the flatbed is displayed in the living room in the bookcase.
Why the Owner Chose Marion:
Marion is a lovely, old fashioned New England seaside town. The local church bell tower tolls each hour and residents and visitors alike find it a comforting sound. Marion doesn't have the crowds and traffic so common on Cape Cod. In the evening, you can walk around downtown and not see another person or automobile. It is a relaxing and friendly town.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Town Wharf is two blocks away and you can enjoy a picnic lunch at the table at the Harbormaster's' shack. On Mondays, during the summer, there is a band concert in the evening outside in the band shell. You can hear, faintly, the concert from the deck of this rental. The second floor of the rental overlooks Bicentennial Park, a lovely view. The town library is only steps away from the cottage and is wireless 24/7. If you provide your license, our library will let you take out DVD's, videos, books on tape and magazines. They have all the local newspapers, along with the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Boston Globe and other popular publications. The library is a great place to spend time.
