The best way to reach us is to fly to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) and hire a car there. Although we are about 280 miles north of the airport, the highway is mostly 4-lane, requiring about 4-5 hours driving time with many sights and accommodations along the way.

What a gorgeous home and setting! 3 grandkids and my two rescue dogs accompanied me the last week of August, 2010. I will definitely want to come again, hopefully in July 2011. Spent every night at the firepit--smores were great! Took the kids to Oqueoc Falls...about 20 minutes away. Beautiful! The home is well equipped and exttremely well maintained. Couldn't ask for more! We did our shopping and dining in Cheboygan, about a 20 minute drive north. We had a ball...very relaxing, laid back area. The water is crystal clear and COLD, but that didn't keep us from beaching and swimming. Great vacation with lots of memories. The dogs chased the chipmunks and keep them running! Beautiful sunrises and sunsetsRecommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great week at this gorgeous beach home with wonderful kitchen/dining/liviing areas, spacious bedrooms, very large luxurious bathrooms and a great deck. The beautiful setting is very private. The beach was never busy providing fun in the sun, rock hunting, and long walks. We enjoyed the evening fires by the lake. This spot has all the amenities for a relaxing, peaceful vacation and we highly recommend it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.
Owner response: We are pleased that Mike and Barb had a wonderful time. They were the perfect guests and left us with little to do before our next renters. We wish them well and look forward to their return.

The home was spacious and beautiful. The beach was perfect as we rarely saw another person on the beach which provided quite a bit of privacy. The water was clean and provided a great swimming environment for the kids. This house was just a short drive to Sheboygan, MI which provided many nice golf courses, restaurants and shops. The deck was relaxing and provided great views of the lake and a place to eat meals. They also had a fire pit on the beach to make fires as the evenings became cool. This is a house that I would not hesitate to recommend which provided our family with a great vacation. This house has great showers, roomy bedrooms and living room, terrific kitchen and plenty of living space. The most fun and relaxing vacation we ever had.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Here I am sitting high above Lake Huron at the Fort Mackinac Tea Room veranda, which overlooks the picturesque island harbor. My wife and I are retired and live year round in Rochester Hills, MI. We spend part time in summer months at this rental property. We enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with family. We have two cats and used to have a shelty mix rescue dog. We hope the people we meet through renting will share our love of this remote part of Michigan and that some lasting acquaintances will be made.
Why the Owner Chose Huron Beach:
We have vacationed on Huron Beach with our kids for over 20 years. They enjoyed the water, playing in the sand, fishing and bonfires at night. When we had the opportunity we purchased a 2 acre wooded lot on the beach. In 2003-2004 we built our dream home here and continue to enjoy the Lake Huron location as well as the nature, sightseeing and history of this unique part of America.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Day begins with a look out the bedroom window at the endless horizon which is Lake Huron. Our 2700 sq. ft. home is large enough to play indoors on rainy days. Eagles, ducks, turkey, deer and the occasional fox can be seen wandering through the woods. Our private beach is a short walk (or run) from the deck. Town (and movies)is 20 minutes away in either direction when civilization beckons. Historic Mackinac and the Michigan Upper Peninsula are just 45 minutes drive away. Inland fishing and Lake Huron boat launches for those who have them are nearby. Charter boat fishing for Salmon and other game fish can be arranged at either Rogers City or Cheboygan.
