My family had a great time. We were hoping for snow, but the lack of snow allowed us to go hiking and exploring. We got some great pix at Lovers Fall. We hiked up the PCT for about two hours before turning around, lol. We did however get some great shots from certain lookout spots on the trail. The house was very clean and equipped. Loved the woodstove. No cellphone service or cable tv forced us to disconnect from our normal routine which was great. We took a drive into Truckee and it was a zoo! Too many people everywhere. We were glad to get back to Sierra City and relax. Larry the local grocer is very friendly and helpful. Jean-Anne did a great job with having the place ready for our visit, couldn't ask for more. That trip was "The Perfect Getaway" for us. Deffinately recommend this place for anyone looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life and would just like to take in some natural outdoor beauty the way God created it.
Owner response:Thank you very much, and we are so happy you enjoyed our home. The hiking is incredible. Hope you can visit again soon and hike to the look out on top of the Buttes is a must do during your next visit. We are also planning to get a couple of kayaks for our guests to explore the lakes in the area. Thank You Again Mark Reynolds/ Owner

My family loved our stay at Alibi! The house is new, exceptionally clean, cozy and comfortable. It had everything we needed and we felt at home away from home. We loved being able to walk into town and to the general store, where we took our two kids everyday for the yummiest soft serve cones we've had in years. Right up the street is also a cemetary that dates back to the early 1800's, and we spent a couple hours there exploring the history- very cool! The Sierra Buttes were ten minutes away and the hike to the top was breathtakingly beautiful, as well as doable for our nine and seven year olds. There is so much to do in the area......hike, fish, explore neat little towns like Downieville... just to name a few things. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the house at Alibi, and we will definitely be back!

We enjoyed our stay, it was perfect. We have two kids and spent our time relaxing and hiking the Sierra Buttes. Don't miss the lookout-great hike to great views. We can't wait to go back and explore more of the Lakes Basin area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Alibi. The cabin is brand spanking new and nicely appointed. We love the huge claw foot tub in the master, as well as many of other nice details found in the home. The historic town of Sierra City was charming, with some great choices for drinks and dining. We went to some beautiful alpine lakes close by for fishing. We will be back!

We had such a wonderful time at The Alibi! It is a great cabin and the manager, Jean-Anne, is a perfect communicator and does a beautiful job of taling care of this rental. The cabin is comfortable, well appointed and idaelly located. We thoroughly enjoyed the pioneer cemetery above the property, the charming mountain town of Sierra City, the great food at The sardine Lake Lodge and Big Springs gardens. Great hiking by mountain lakes leaving from Gold Lakes Lodge and fishing and rock hopping in the North Yuba River and Salmon Creek. This area is absolutely the best and most beautiful. Stay at the Alibi. It's the perfect mountain getaway.

This place was fantastic! We arrived at dusk, so it was a little hard to find (especially since there are 5 different streets in the small town with a same or similar name- it was almost comical). From the outside, the cabin looks pretty normal- but on the inside it is quite lovely. Kitchen is great, beds are nice, and you really can't beat the location in town. We used this cabin as our home base for traveling to the Gold Lakes Basin and to Downieville and along the Yuba river. The 4th of July festivities were charming too, I especially liked the guy riding his gigantic patriotic unicycle around town. Just perfect. If you haven't been to Tahoe the last 30 years, then you don't know that it is heinously overcrowded pretty much all the time- this area is the perfect alternative. Thanks Alibi! (ps, thanks for sending back the t-shirts I left at the cabin, that was really nice of you). Vanessa

Really nice stay. The cabin is beautiful. Clean, well stocked and cared for. We had 4 adults and 3 small children and were perfectly comfortable. The town is a stones throw away - I REALLY MEAN IT. You can literally do a pub crawl right back to to a cozy bed after a fun day of activities. Lots to do in the area! Everything from fishing, hiking, boating in the summer, to snowshoeing, sledding, x/c skiing, and snowmobiling in the winter. The town is quaint, the views of the Sierra Buttes are phenomenal. We definitely want to do it again, but this time without kids and make it a romantic get-a-way.
