  Place was very nice and enjoyable to stay. Our family had a wonderful time. However for the price of this rental I wish some of the things in the house were fixed and up to date. For one, the side entrance door scraped across the tile floor which was the entrance to the bathroom. Secondly, one of the side glass doors did not close properly, from which there was a sign clearly stated do not use because it is broken, however there was a 2 inch gap along the bottom of the door from which the door did not close properly. Thank goodness the weather was still cool where insects were not a problem, however we did notice an ant problem in the bathroom. Our family did have a wonderful time Easter weekend and rental was enjoyable and clean despite of those 2 conditions.

  I had a great time and will definitely return. I have already told many people and they are looking into this cabin as well.

• Great vacation place

  My husband and I have stayed at River Haven many times in the past. We like to be alone, fish when we want, lay back and watch TV if we choose, or perhaps go into Harrisonburg or to the Shenandoah Farmers market to look around and shop. The gas stations (for bait and gas), food stores, pharmacies, etc., are within a few miles of the cabin. We both have stressful jobs so we look forward to being here with God and nature, just a short drive from Richmond area. I look forward to booking in 2013 with the new owners and relaxing by the river again.

  Fishing was great. The cabin was nice but was full of insects that left huge welps while we slept. Large ants were every where. We left a day early.

  Owner response: Anytime a problem arises we strive to take immediate action, We have since sprayed the cabin. We had no previous complaints about the insect problem and encourage all renters to immediately contact the Cabin Concierge as soon as problem arises so they can be taken care of in a timely manner.

  We had an excellent stay at your cabin. We used the house as a home base for a couple fishing float trips on either side of the dam. We caught tons of fish during the day and cooked up some tasty meals in the cabin at night. The beds were comfortable and clean, the porch spacious with a great view and the canoe buoyant!! The owners were incredibly accommodating to our requests and we can't thank them more for such a wonderful stay. We would be more than happy to use your property again in the future.

• Ideal cabin on the river.

  We spent four nights at the cabin with our five grandchildren, ages 6,8,10,12 and 14. We found the cabin and site to be exactly as advertised. The cabin was clean, and well furnished. The three youngest kids claimed the loft and loved it. The three youngest had never fished before. They all became very good at fishing from the dock, catching and releasing about 50 crappie and bass during our stay. We all loved the canoe, firepit, BBQ grill and outside living. We highly recommend this site for a fun vacation with the kids. As Grandparents, we would not trade this experience with all our grandchildren for any other activity including Disneyworld.

• Absolutely Awesome!

  This cabin was awesome and the location perfect. Even with 100 degrees temps we were able to sit on the large shaded deck and my grandchildren were able to play with their bubbles. The canoe provided hours of entertainment and excitement. My son even caught a fish from the dock. The accommodations were superb! The quality of the linens and bedding was magnificent and amply supplied. Yes, the loft ceiling is low; however, when the beds were pushed into the center of the room even my 6ft tall daughter was able to comfortably sleep up there. Because of the 100 degree temps, the AC wasn't sufficient enough for u; however, a quick trip to Family Dollar and 2 fans later that issue was resolved and I needed the fans for use at home as well. We're already thinking about visiting again next summer - can we pre-order cooler temps?
