My husband and I needed a place to relax and be surrounded by beauty. This certainly filled the bill! We can't wait to go back. The covered terrace off the bedroom was the perfect spot to watch the light change around the mountains, eat a meal or enjoy a glass of wine. The sunporch off the kitchen greeted each new day with light and warmth and the perfect spot to have that first cup of coffee. We spent a lot of time here, reading and painting. The nights were so quiet and dark with such a spectacular sky that we would lay back and watch until we were sure we could reach up and pluck a star from the milky way. The surrounding meadows gave us beautiful scenes just beginning to blush with Autumn's colors. Deer visited and birdsong was our background music. Just a lovely place to be.

About the owner: Writer and editor, lover of peace and quiet, I enjoy welcoming new friends to Stillpoint. The Monadnock Region is a well-kept secret. Come find out why.

                  Why the Owner Chose Harrisville:
I bought the farmhouse and found that the apartment below was very well suited for seasonal rentals.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
I am on-site but rarely in view, unless I am needed. I respect visitor's privacy and expect the same in return. This is a great place to write the Great American Novel or indulge in painting plein air. Artists often set up their easels in the fields here or over the ridge. Historically, there are dozens of well-known, listed artists who have worked and lived nearby. Mark Twain spent a summer just a few miles away; Amy Lowell lived down the road; Thoreau walked here and wrote of the great mountain. The most unique benefit found here is the stillness, the peace. Occasionally, the fields are hayed which changes the tempo -- lots of activity and tractors coming and going -- but that is just twice in the summer. Otherwise, what you see here is more like a well composed still life.
