Oak Beach is Port Douglas’s most exclusive beach; it is unspoiled and is surrounded by lush tropical rain forest and palm trees. The beach is un-crowded and is perfect for sun bathing, picnicking, snorkeling or just lazing about. You may be lucky and see dolphins swimming in the Coral Sea. The sunrise in the morning is just stunning as is the full moon rising from the ocean!
OBC is Port Douglas luxury holiday house accommodation in every sense of the word and accommodates up to six people. The beach house has been created by one of Australia’s leading interior designers and the house presents with a unique combination of ‘contemporary colonialism’. You can laze about in the private and tropical salt water pool, enjoy a BBQ, sleep in a hammock or enjoy cocktails, as the sun sets behind the palm trees. Equally you may want to enjoy many of the cafes, restaurants and tourist destinations in the area, including the world famous Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rain forest.
The house is open to the sea breezes during the day and should you require it, air conditioning and fans will cool you at night. The house is stylish, private and totally relaxing……..perfect for a honeymoon or just "getting away from it all and re charging the batteries". You can enjoy one of three plush and contemporary bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own king size bed and large en-suite with private courtyard and overlooks the private pool. The second bedroom also overlooks the pool and can be either configured with two large single beds or a king sized bed. Why the Owner Chose Port Douglas
We have been holidaying at Oak Beach for years as it is our favorite beach in Australia. The beach is very private and exclusive, with only about 15 houses on the beach side. When Oak Beach Cottage came up for sale, we jumped at as we new it was a once in a life time opportunity to own this piece of paradise. Oak Beach itself is about a kilometer long and is fringed with palm trees. All our Guests love staying at OBC because of its close proximity to Port Douglas. You are close enough to enjoy the restaurants, bars, shopping etc, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and solitude. Of course the Great Barrier Reef is close at hand and so is the world famous Daintree Rainforest. OBC is in absolute paradise!
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
As Oak Beach Cottage is only 39 paces away from the Coral Sea, you could not be closer to the ocean if you tried! The living and dining areas face the Coral Sea and capture the sea breezes. The French doors on the ‘beach side’ open out to a wide ‘Queensland style’ undercover verandah, where you can dine al fresco……or you can relax in the various lounging areas…. or walk straight on to the golden sands on the unspoiled beach. Perhaps if ‘pool side’ is more your thing……you can ‘escape’ from the ocean and enjoy a cool refreshing swim in the totally private salt water swimming pool. Or you may want to spread out on the day bed and read a book or open a bottle of wine and enjoy a BBQ….or catch up on a tan. Children also enjoying toasting marshmallows around the fire pit in the evening.... and parents enjoying a glass of wine whilst looking up at the stars! Whatever you decide to do, you will be mesmerized by the natural beauty of Oak Beach and its surrounds. It won’t take long for you to be totally relaxed and wishing life was always this good!

Oak Beach Cottage excelled all our expectations upon arrival, having left the memory of the big smoke far behind us.Beautifully appointed rooms and a wonderful private pool shaded by lush vegetation. This single story cottage has retained the charm of days gone by without sacrificing luxury. With the sound of the beach lapping in the background and hammocks strung between palm trees calling you to read that last great novel, heaven couldn't be any closer. .

Our family (2 adults, 3 kids) thoroughly enjoyed the week we stayed at Oak Beach Cottage. It was the PERFECT place to celebrate my 40th birthday. The house was so inviting and comfortable, we actually had a hard time leaving it to get out and see the sites (which were fabulous and very easy to reach from the house - Cairns, Daintree, etc.). The access to the virtually private beach was invaluable for morning and afternoon strolls, beach-combing, and watching the kids play in the waves. We loved lounging at the pool which was perfectly secluded by plants and fence. I can't think of what I'd change to make it any better. Paul was very accessible before and during the rental for questions and was more than friendly & helpful with all our inquiries. The house was the perfect size for us. The kitchen was well stocked with modern appliances and a great espresso maker. We would go back in a heartbeat and book this house for the overall experience.

Our stay at OBC was magic. We got a paradise feeling we didn't encounter in other places. We're at the end of a round the world trip for a whole year. The house is very practical with a well organized kitchen, all Miele appliances. Two bedrooms in the house itself when you are a party of less than 4 . Plus an equally well designed extra-bedroom in a very chic bungalow just outside if the party is 5-6. All bathrooms with (big) baths and showers separate. All over the house there is art-work, high- quality and good art to our taste unifying the whole place and giving it a very good feel over-all. In the back of the house there is a salt-water swimming pool in a well maintained little garden and a new barbecue. A smiling Buddah puts you in a Zen mood. When they say it's just on the beach, they are right. We didn't count our steps but the beach is just off the verandah. There are several seats and couches, all of them done with very good taste, to admire all that beauty. Oak Beach is a pristine beach, you take a walk and only see sand, the sapphire Coral Sea and the rain-forest behind, hard to get closer to paradise. The few houses are all hidden away and don't disturb the view at all. There a plenty of birds , I spotted species I had never seen before every single day on the verandah. At dusk when the flying foxes silently head home to the mountain caves, the place is covered in a mystic aura. Port Douglas is a nice little tropical town with a lot of ambiance and restaurants. We didn't make it to the suggested ones because we found a great fish shop at the Captain Cook Highway left hand side before entering Port Douglas. And kept on going at the shop every day of our stay to buy fresh reef-fish and seafood we cooked ourselves . We made some great trips in the neighborhood : a walk on the famous Four Miles beach, an incredibly interesting trip to the Daintree Rainforest after trespassing the river with the ferry, visiting a Bat house, a "Dreaming" walk with aboriginal Roy Gibson at Mossman, a swim at Mossman gorge, strolling on the superb Sunday Market, and of course the Great Barrier Reef. We took a trip with Wavelength, the snorkel specialist and had a marvellous day having snorkeled at 3 different reefs. Paul was a great host - the rental process went very smooth for us. We think OBC is the best thing that can happen to you in tropical North Queensland.
