  My husband and I had a lovely week at the Sand Crab Cottage. The listing was accurate and the place looks just as it does in the pictures. The highlights for us were the beds were super comfy, and the big screen TV's were amazing! We also liked sitting on the porch and watching the passersby. It was warm during our stay, and the air conditioner in the house worked like a charm, too. The property was very clean but stocked with TONS (bordering on too much) of knick knacks and decor. Just personal preference - but as I was tidying up several times through our stay, the place would still look messy to me, but it was the decor. Not a big deal though! One of the main selling points of this home was that it was PET FRIENDLY. When we arrived with our 2 dogs, we were happy to see the huge assortment of dog toys, along with bowls and leashes too. The porch has a gate that you can close so that they can sit out on the porch with you too. While it does have a fenced yard, we were a little disappointed that the yard wasn't a traditional grassy yard. The yard is full of pavers, and while grass does grow between the pavers, it wasn't enough to be considered a yard, really. Our dogs had trouble finding a place to use the restroom here. In defense of the cottage, prior to renting I had seen the pavers in pictures, but I thought there would be a back grassy area too, or something like that. Finally, we browsed through the history of the cottage (the binder that was in the living room) that was full of clippings and information about the remodel and redo of the cottage. We were a little 'on edge' as we read the history of the home and the fate of the original owner, and wish that would have been told to us prior to renting, but this wasn't that big of a deal. We only heard the dishwasher start on it's own 1 night. :) The house is about 1 block from the beach, just about a 5 minute walk down the road. It's also located right on the 'main drag' that goes into the town, where you can grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee. The breakfast tacos at the coffee shop were our favorites! Jody gave us a list of places to try which was SO helpful! You must get a pizza from the Mellow Mushroom! If you're looking for a Wrightsville Beach vacation, I DO recommend the Sand Crab Cottage. It's a fun and unique little place for a relaxing time!

  The Sand Crab Cottage is the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. It is probably the most welcoming, well appointed, and lovingly prepared place we have ever stayed. We felt completely welcome and pampered. It was such an unexpected surprise to learn that pets were allowed, so for the first time ever, we were able to enjoy our family pets during the vacation. My family and I were blessed to enjoy and experience this fabulous sanctuary by the sea. WE kindly thank the generous owners for sharing it with us.

  My husband, our dog, and I spent an amazing weekend at the Sand Crab Cottage in April. We usually only stay in luxury resorts which means that our dog (who is our baby) can never come with us, but the Sand Crab Cottage was perfect! Jody had dog bowls and toys, and everything was dog-proofed (even the front porch has a gate so he couldn't get out). The cottage is beautifully decorated, and everything little thing you could want has been anticipated and provided. We have stayed in some nice places, and this cottage was one of our favorites. We are looking forward to a return trip soon!

  We rented this house for a short "staycation", as we live only 15 minutes away, in Wilmington. Despite the rave reviews, I was curious to see how I liked it, as I have high standards and have had several mediocre house rental experiences before. Well, now that we've gone...I don't have one bad thing to say about it! Every detail has been thought of, and the house is GORGEOUS. It truly is a 5-star experience. The house is fresh, clean, beautiful, and yet comfortable. It is perfect for just couples, or a family. I have 2.5 year old and 2.5 month old daughters, and both of them loved it. The portacrib made for one less thing to pack, and my toddler LOVED the "pirate room", which was outfitted with toys for kids without seeming like a second-class kid's room. There is nothing I would change about this house, or our weekend, which felt like a rejuvenating weekend worlds away from our home, despite the proximity. We will definitely be coming back!

  We have been vacationing at Wrightsville beach since I was a little girl and we all agree that our stay at The Sand Crab Cottage was our most relaxing time. The Sand Crab was so organized and full of everything we needed. The beds were extremely comfortable with soft, crisp, clean linens. The house is on a fun corner with a deck for watching and waving. When we were ready to go to the beach there was a beach caddy to load with all of the beach chairs, umbrella, everything we needed. I literally could go on and on. Highly recommended.

  Everything you would ever think of is provided with the Sand Crab Cottage. it's like borrowing the owners home, not renting it from them. Really just one word to describe the whole experience, from dealing with the owner, to the house , to the location, to the gear provided..... AWESOME... Thanks again...

  IT is truly a sanctuary. The owner is professional, thorough, and thoughtful. Jody was a pleasure to work with and talk to. My wife and I would love to go back,God willing. We had a lovely 2 weeks. The cottage definitely has a "WOW" factor when you walk in, and I mean all rooms. The decor is beyond beautiful, it is gorgeous. Thank you Sand Crab Cottage for a wonderful stay.

  My family has stayed at Sand Crab Cottage for two summers in a row. It is an absolutely enchanting experience! The cottage is lavishly decorated in shabby beach chic. The new amenities in 2011 are fantastic, including a dreamy storage shed full of bicycles, beach toys and games, and child's swimming pool. It is an absolute adult and child wonderland. From an adult perspective, we especially love using the gas grill and margarita-maker. The thoughtful selection of books and videos in the cottage is also appreciated. The location is perfect for people-watching and we have spent many hours in the rocking chairs on the front porch. We have friends in the area and we love inviting them over to experience the cottage with us. We truly love the Sand Crab Cottage and look forward to a return visit soon. The owner is a dream to work with and I even find myself sometimes wishing she were there with us. Thank you, Jody, for creating our perfect home away from home!!

  This house was a wonderful way for our family to spend spring break. It was beautifully decorated and there was nothing needed except for our clothes. Everything was provided. This house has made it hard to find rentals as comperable in other areas of the country. It is by far our favorite place to go. We hope to get back there again soon!

  We took a couples trip and were fortunate enough to stay in Sand Crab Cottage. Loved the location for watching the bikers, dog walkers and people stroll by. Two minute stroll to beach and excellent restaurants. Bring your toothbrush because they have everything else you need. Will always be our first choice at Wrightsville Beach. Best bed and linens I've ever had even in 5 star hotel.
