The house is gorgeous and maintained extremely well. we loved every aspect and would definetly stay there again. We stayed here with another couple for four wonderful days on SSI. This beautiful home is tastefully decorated with all the necessities and much more. All four bedrooms are large with king or queen beds, two with en suite bathrooms. This would be perfect for small groups like ours or larger groups with a few children. The garage made coming and going even better. With all the great restaurants on SSI we never once used the beautiful kitchen, but the open concept would make that too a fun filled experience. We will recall and recommend this gorgeous private home for years to come. Thanks to Barbara for her advice on what to see and do in the Golden Isles. Can't wait to come back again and again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house allows for time together and personal space with it's open layout but with bedrooms located seperately. I am in my 60's and can be very picky about my space and the "look" of the house. Each of the main 3 bedrooms were on the main floor, each with its own bath - just perfect for my two siblings and their spouses and me. The open floor plan allowed for easy conversation while in the kitchen. The house was very clean and there was no musty or mildewy smell houses at the beach can sometimes have. Very attractively decorated with plenty of seating inside and out. The upstairs had another bedroom, and a common room with tv and a pool table (which we enjoyed in the evening). The landscaping was beautifully done and although it was on a street with houses all around you had a feeling of privacy. A nice bike ride into the village or the beach. Also convenient to Frederica St. with many good restaurants. It was fairly well stocked, although you should bring your own bath soap, there was soap for handwashing in the bath and kitchen. There were plastic grocery bags in the pantry and a large garbage bag in the garbage can, but no extras once the can was emptied. So, if you are driving to the island you might want to bring large garbage bags as well as paper towels. The other two things to note was no bedside lighting which as I get older is nice to have, and If you can't sleep on foam pillows, bring your own. If something should happen or you have questions, the owners are only a phone call away. Although this was a family trip I have two good friends I travel with most of the time and we have rented many times through Home Away and VRBO. This house is just the kind of house we look for. So now they want to go to St. Simon's and I would definately rent this house again. Bonnie - October 2012Owner response: Glad you enjoyed the house layout and it had the "look" you where looking for. My family & I came down here for a long weekend for my 50th birthday & I would have to say this is the nicest place we have rented in the 20 years we've been coming down to SSI. Barbara is great to deal with. We just returned from staying a wonderful week at this house. The layout was perfect for 7 of us. The kitchen was well stocked, and the house was beautifully decorated. We always try to choose a location that feels luxurious,and this house fit the bill. The outside landscaping was so incredible that we used it as the location for a long overdue family picture. We would definately reccommend this house to anyone planning a vacation on St.Simons.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

1904 Demere Rd is a great house if you like room to move, a safe yard for kids to roam and a true home away from home feel. The great room is a terrific open space that is super family friendly and very nicely decorated!! We loved having the kitchen, living room and dining room all open to one another. There is plenty of counter space and the dining table comfortably sat all 8 of us. The yard is just beautiful and the private courtyard style driveway was perfect for all of our "stuff". We parked 2 SUVs, 8 bikes, tons of beach gear (waaay more than any two families could possibly need) and still had plenty of room for the kids to play and explore. The island is very pedestrian friendly so if you are up for it, biking is a great way to get around - just don't forget your sunscreen and plenty of cold water because it gets HOT! We had a great time on SSI and will definitely be returning!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I have had 4 families there each with there own private BR & space, not to mention the front porch, side deck and beautiful yard with red swing under the trellis. All this and super comfortable beds, big screen TV's and pool table!!! My private home does not limit you to parking. Some other rentals (will not mention) only allow 2 cars. My private home has the garage and front parking space. Remember to bring your bikes or rent them and have them delivered!

Our family reunion experience at this property was exceptional in every way, and beyond our expectations. The listing description was spot-on, and was actually better in the living experience than we thought it would be. The listing photos were clear and accurately reflected the property's appearance and amenities. It was well-maintained and very, very clean. The appliances were all top rate, and easy to use. The owner was wonderful to work with, and was personable, helpful, and made the rental experience one of the easiest we have ever experienced. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives, and found the accomodations an exciting and comfortable way to spend a family vacation. There were electronics to suit everyone's needs, and everything worked as expected. Nearby activities include several beaches on the island, other beaches on Jekyll Island as well as a new Sea Turtle facility, a driftwood beach that is simply amazing with the most spectacular driftwood imaginable, and many diversions, including bicycle rentals, motor scooters, golf carts, mini golf, dolphin boat tours, charter fishing, golf, golf and golf, and many more too numerable to mention. All in all it was a fantastic vacation in a most wonderful house, and we give our highest recommendation. You will not regret it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our week long stay at 1904 Demere was fantastic! The house was perfect for our group and the porches and outside landscaping were perfect! We enjoyed the greatroom and gameroom and the house is perfect for interaction and relaxation at the end of the night. The central location was also a big plus and we could ride bikes to anywhere on the island. Thanks Barbara!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

About the owner: I dabble in art and loved my photography career. I have worked art shows and also critique. My husband is a sales consultant to the telephone industry. We have 4 kids & 2 grandkids. What drew us to SSI was our first visit to Jekyll in 1998. We watched the Sidney Lainer Bridge being built an engineering marvel) and laugh at the times we waited for the old draw bridge to open. My husband said that's how its done... SLOW. We saw some changes but love the building code (no high-rises). There have been many improvements to SSI, one of the best being, NEPTUNE PARK in the village. A well thought out master plan. We watched it being built in Feb 2009. A NEW Water Wonderland for all ages. It features 3 connecting pools with a kids water park, playground, mini-golf and water aerobics. What a view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean & Jekyll Island!
