My sister, daughter, and I stayed in the apartment for a week in April and LOVED the neighborhood! It was full of eateries, pastry shops, and great boutiques plus it was just a few minutes walk to Notre Dame and many other attractions. The location is so close to two different metro lines and made a fantastic place from which we could start each day's adventures. As three females, safety was very important to us. We always felt very safe even walking home late at night. The area has an active night life with much activity; however, Rue Charles fortunately was quiet. Our host was at the apartment waiting for us upon our arrival and was very responsive to the one question we had during the week. Having access to the computer in the apartment and having the Internet was a huge plus. The apartment is very efficient and reminded me of a well designed IKEA studio. Yes, it is small, but it was more than sufficient for our needs and offered much more room than any hotel in this price range would ever offer. Considering the price of this apartment, the location, and the comfortable layout, this condo is a gem. Would definitely plan to stay there again on another visit!

my husband and i had our first post-baby getaway here. we absolutely loved it! our favorite part about the apartment was the location. it was close to everything we wanted to see and do in the marais district. and it was also walking distance to the more 'touristy' things. the place itself is quite simple, but it has absolutely everything you need (especially if you plan to be out and about most of the day like we were). the owner was also extremely helpful! i emailed him a bunch of times before the trip to ask him all sorts of questions (e.g., restaurant recommendations, specifics about accommodations, etc.) and he was so gracious and helpful in his replies. we highly recommend this place!

JUST RIGHT !

This was just perfect for my week-long stay over the holidays. I love to be in the Marais, and this apartment is about a 5-7 minute walk from the St. Paul stop -- neat street, with easy shopping and eating nearby (including an enoteca and terrific Patisserie), and also close to the Seine. Paris is all about walking, and this is a terrific central location from which to start. I was met by the host and got a good review of the things one needs to know (heat, computer, appliance use). Clean, safe, quiet, one floor up, good water pressure, HOT water, kitchen had all the required items.... No complaints. I would definitely stay here again. If you're not accustomed to European housing, you may want to be aware that the bathroom is sort of halfway part of the bedroom (not really, but close) -- not a problem for me, but I suppose it would be surprising if you hadn't stayed in a European apartment before. Great for one traveler, or a very agreeable pair -- my hat's off to the family of 4 who stayed in this place -- now THAT is a happy family !! Sauveur was very professional, prompt and responsive -- the planning and booking process was smooth. It all went beautifully and I'm a happy camper.

Quaint apartment in a great location

We enjoyed the apartment in Saint Paul and the benefits of being so close to everything. It is walking distance to Rue du Rivoli and Notre Dame. The metro station is only 5 minutes away if you needed to go somewhere further. Being so close to the river was a bonus as it provided quick and easy access for the morning runs. It also provided a place to go back to in the middle of the afternoon to rest up before heading back out in the evening. The apartment has everything - especially a washing machine! It also includes details such as shopping bags for groceries and umbrellas - which we forgot to take on a rainy day. Reserving and communicating with Sauveur was easy and he is very accomodating to our schedule if it works out; making this very seamless and our visit so much more awesome!! Regards, Patty and Ryan Canada

Excellent location, sweet studio, and service above and beyond the call of duty!

My family of four (2 adults + 9- and 7-y.o.'s) rented this studio in August '11, and loved the place! It was just big enough to manage navigating through the place with our luggage, and all the devices (computer, printer, washing machine/dryer, dish washer) were great. Super-quiet, comfortable, and well-maintained studio, just one easy flight of curved stairs to get to the door. We were supposed to arrive around 4-6pm, but were caught in a horrific traffic jam outside of Paris, with no mobile phone to warn the care-taker, M. Martin, that we were going to be really late. We finally arrived, exhausted, at the entrance lobby at 10:30pm! We rang the bell -- and no answer. We were attempting to figure out what to do next when the outside door opened and M. Martin introduced himself and let us in. He'd waited for 6 hours in the neighborhood for us to show up, checking the portico every so often. :( If he'd very reasonably written us off, we'd have understood but been out a really significant chunk of euros for whatever hotel would rent us a couple of rooms nearby. He quickly showed us the place and came back the next day to go into details. M. Martin's kindness and extreme patience turned what could have been a miserable end to a difficult day into a huge relief, and a lovely start to our Paris visit. Many thanks, M. Martin! The neighborhood was great; I highly recommend the Miss Manon boulangerie around the corner. Insanely good pain au chocolat!

Best Paris Local, Excellent Host & Safe Booking

Guest: Murphy (NYC, USA)
Date of Stay: 07/19/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

Our week stay was made incredible by our ease of travel. Numerous Metro/bus options as well as walking to any possible restaurant and shopping choices. If you like Tribeca or Soho, you'll prefer Rue Charles V. Comfy beds, hot shower, computer, washer/dryer and stocked kitchen with shops for cheese, wine, chocolate, bakery and general grocery within 2 minutes or less. No street noise and safe. Walked to Seine every night to watch the lights from the bridge to Ile Saint-Louis. Gorgeous. Easily booked and true-to-it's-word mgmt. Look forward to staying again!

This apartment was small, yet comfortable. It had everything one would need to call home. For what we paid, it was a great value. Definitely a great location. Only up a small flight of stairs. Really left safisfied with our accomodations! Thanks Sauveur!!!

The Highlight of Our Stay in Paris

Guest: Aurelio (Los Angeles, Califronia, USA)
Date of Stay: 10/30/10 Review Submitted: 11/15/10

Sauveur’s been in business for awhile and it shows. He and his staff are professional, show personal attention and are accommodating. He handles inquiries by email. Mr. Dominique Martin handles phone inquiries in Paris; and Helen, met us at the apartment to show us around. (I don’t think Sauveur ever said “no” to any of my requests – he added a color printer because I asked for it.) The apartment is exactly as described - small, well-equipped, modern and very clean. (Click “Links to More Information” on this page for more.) Two electronically-controlled doors provide secure access to the building foyer. Then, 20 three-foot-wide steps lead up a circular staircase to the apartment on the second American floor (first European floor). A key to a heavy wooden door provides additional security. The steps up to the bathroom and the sleeping loft are only about twenty-inches wide. No problem for the svelte but those with wider girth or limited mobility may want to consider another of Sauveur’s apartments. He has a complete list at chemouni.com. The location in the Marais is superb. Dozens of restaurants, clothing stores, bars and neighborhood shops are within walking distance. St. Paul and Bastille, with three Metro lines, are the two Metro stations we used the most. Notre Dame, the ice cream stores and shops of Ile Saint Louis are about 15 minutes away or closer by foot. Boulangerie Malineau on 25 Rue Saint-Paul is the closest “boulangerie” (bakery) to the apartment. They open at 7 AM and are perfect for croissants and “pain aux chocolate” (chocolate bread), among other goodies. For general supermarket items, try Monoprix, Franprix or G20 on Rue Saint-Antoine. (Use Google maps to find them.) Miss Manon, for sweets, and Paul, for baked goods, also on Saint-Antoine, are also good choices. Do searches on “Berthillon ice cream” and “Amorino Gelati” for superb ice creams. Check out our vacation info at francefall.blogspot.com. Don't worry about sending cash advances because Sauveur is above-board in all respects. Small wonder that his rentals are booked months in advance. Do a Google search on his name for several positive references. He includes his current address and phone numbers in his emails and usually responds to communications within 24 hours. (If he doesn’t, the emails may have gotten lost, so try contacting him again.) Since he also lives in San Francisco, he handles American dollars without the usual foreign transaction fees.

Bonjour Sauveur! My family and I had an amazing time in your apartment and in Paris. It was perfectly located and we walked everywhere. It was near an easy metro line for the times we were too tired. If I ever go back to Paris or if I have anyone that goes, I would highly recommend your place. Thank you again. Rocio

We so enjoyed our stay. It was nice to have all the amenities of home and though the apartment is small, it never felt that way. It is perfect for two. We loved the location and found it so nice to come home to our home away from home each night. Lots of restaurants, markets and a large department store/grocery nearby. It is about a 20 minute walk from a train station where the Air France Bus drops off so no taxi is necessary if you are willing to walk. We would stay again.

The location of this apartment could not have been better for us. We walked everywhere we visited and were always glad to come "home" to such a lovely place. The apartment is adorable. We were impressed with the stylish layout. There is plenty of room to move about and cozy enough to keep it romantic. The features listed are exactly what we got. My husband enjoyed using the free long distance to keep in touch with his ill brother on a daily basis. I appreciated using the apartment's computer to get directions and the washer/dryer unit to toss in a load of laundry before heading out the door. Practical matters to be sure, but these features afforded us peace of mind and more time for taking in Paris' attractions. We hope to return to Paris in two years and are hoping that this apartment will be available during our visit. It is perfect for us.

A Wonderful Stay in the Marais

Guest: JoanL (Brooklyn, New York, USA)
Date of Stay: 05/22/10 Review Submitted: 06/18/10

My husband & I had a wonderful time during our nine-night stay in Paris in this apartment. We arrived to a warm greeting by our host, who acquainted us with the features of the apartment, & to a welcome bottle of wine & goodies. Our host was very friendly & responsive to our needs throughout our stay. A recent renovation, the apartment's design was very smart & our stay there was very comfortable--everything was very clean & orderly; the loft bed very comfortable; & the apartment very quiet. It was great to have a working computer with an internet connection; a phone that included calls throughout France & to the USA; a cable TV (though we watched it only to check what was going on at Rol&-Garros Tennis Open--most of the time we were out & about exploring & enjoying the neighborhood & the rest of Paris); a washer/dryer; & the other kitchen appliances & amenities. The photos of the apartment accurately show it, though the "Parisian view" shown was better than that shown in the picture when one looks down from the loft bed--it was great to look out the window & see greenery & flowers climbing up the interior courtyard walls. The location was convenient to the things we love about Paris. It was right near St. Paul's Village & a short walk to Ile St. Louis (& nearly daily fixes of Berthillon sorbet); the Place des Voges; & to the other side of the Seine. We had delicious meals at the restaurant right next door--L'Enoteca--& at one down Rue St. Paul toward the Seine--Mères et Filles (at 8 Rue Saint-Paul) & tasty small meals at the nearby café on Rue Saint-Paul toward Rue de Rivoli. Several places to buy incomparably fresh & delicious produce, cheese, chocolate & such are around the corner on Rue de Rivoli. For baked goods handed over with a warm greeting, be sure to stop at the bakery on Rue Saint-Paul. While we did most of our exploring on foot, from a trip to Cimetière du Père-Lachaise, to another to the grounds of the Eiffel Tower, to walks to & through the musée du Louvre, musée D'Orsay, & the nearby Centre Pompidou, you don't have to walk as much if you don't want to as the apartment is conveniently located near three Metro lines & buses that run along the Rue de Rivoli. Now back home, we recall with great happiness our stay in what we felt, thanks to the hospitality we received from our host & to everyone in the neighborhood, was our little home in Paris. We would definitely recommend it to our friends & would definitely return. Thank you!
