Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens - Superb Location.

'Cheap and Cheerful' in a Superb Location is exactly what it is. This is a small, 20 square meter (215 square feet) studio flat with lots of light and a superb location with WiFi. STRICTLY NON SMOKING
Note: The flat has now been totally repainted, the wooden Venetian blinds have been replaced with white blinds (be careful not to be too rough with the cords please), Thick white curtains for the winter. New flooring. Nice and fresh.
The Studio: Located on the 4th floor (5th floor for North Americans), with lift, with rooftop views. The whole of one wall is window so the flat is very light indeed. One comfortable double bed, ample storage space, desk, TV, small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, two ring hob to cook on, kettle, storage, cutlery and crockery.
Bathroom with wash basin, bathtub with overhead shower, toilet.
Ideal for a single or a couple visiting London for a week or more. Although small, it is very light and airy. The location is absolutely superb with the whole of London within very easy reach.
Where is it? : Just over a minute's walk from Kensington Gardens with the Peter Pan statue, Italian fountains, Kensington Palace. This just next to where Kensington Gardens joins Hyde Park. Wonderful for strolls and picnics. Walk through the park to the Royal Albert Hall, the museums of South Kensington and the up market areas of Kensington and Knightsbridge (with Harvey Nichols and Harrods).
A 15 minute walk (if you don't want to take one of the many buses or the tube) to Park Lane, Mayfair or Oxford Street (Selfridges) or a little further to Bond Street.
A 20 minute walk, or a short bus ride to Portobello Road.
Transport is fantastic in this area: The flat is a two minute walk from Lancaster Gate tube station - very frequent and short journeys to Marble Arch, Bond Street, Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road (for Soho and Theatreland) OR to Notting Hill, Holland Park or Shepherds Bush for the largest city centre shopping centre in Europe - Westfield.
Many and frequent buses.
If this is not enough, you will be a 5 minute walk from Paddington station with the Heathrow Express, Heathrow Connect and another 4 tube/underground lines. Mainline trains to the West of England - Bath, Oxford etc, Wales.
Many buses available here too.
Queensway, a 24 hour International eating area is just a 10 minute walk away.
Super Location - London could not be easier than from this spot.
NOTE: Check in - We always try to get you in as soon as possible however, if your flight arrives early in the morning you must understand that you will not be able to enter the studio until 1100 - that is the earliest we could do it.
Check out is by 1100.
STRICTLY NON SMOKING.

I stayed with my girlfiend Dec 26 - January 1, before going to Bath for an overnight before headed back to the States (Boston). I was looking for cheap accomoadtion since hotels are so pricey, and the inexpensive ones dont usually have their own bathroom. This place was easy access from Paddington Station, so it was easy from the airport (Heathrow). It was also close to two tube lines, (1-3 min walks). The neighborhood was safe and there are plenty of small shops and restaurants in walking distance. If you are looking for a great deal, and plan to be sightseeing, travelling, etc, this place is amazing. It was a fantastic way to stay so close to the action at such a reasonable price. Derek even accomadeted me by having some friends meet me since it was Boxing Day and he wasnt available. It really worked out great, and If I come back to London before I make it big, I will most certainly be checking for this place. Thanks Derek! one year later and I finally got around to my review!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Dear Derek Thank you for the opportunity you gave me to stay in Central London for such a reasonable price. I really think I was lucky to find your wonderfully light studio at such a bargain price. The location was superb, as you had promised and the studio, although small, was more than adequate for my six month stay. I shall be in touch again when I next come to London. Great Location except for the noisy pub on the corner. The flat was in horrible condition. Window broken and unusable, desk chair so dirty we would not sit on it without a towel, dust caking the overhead lighting, towels thin and threadbare. Worst of all the bathroom sink was clogged and unusable and the towel rack on the door fell off.Owner response: I find it strange that the people concerned, who stayed on 16 June 2011 felt they needed to write a negative review in March 2012. The studio is indeed "cheap and cheerful" and I make it very clear that it is cheap, budget and basic. However, it is clean and comfortable if all one wants is a bed, bathroom and a small kitchenette for at least 35 pounds per night cheaper than the local budget hotels. One window is indeed broken - the hinge and is unusable. There is a note to say this. The repair of this window is out of my hands, even as the owner, as we need to wait for the whole building to be upgraded before the window can be replaced. There are other windows to open. If the desk chair was dirty, the overhead lighting caked in dust and the towels thin and threadbare, then why did the clients not complain when they were there? I would have sent the cleaner back in. As for the towels, this is just not true. There are many extra towels in the wardrobe. If the bathroom sink was clogged and the towel rack broken, again, had I been informed, I would most definitely have done something about it. As it was, I was not contacted and as far as I know, I have not received any complaints from subsequent guests. When all is said and done, one of my past guests who has stayed at my small, cheap and cheerful studio on a few occasions has just rented it until the end of the year so I am now removing this property from the site until it is available again.

We really enjoyed exploring London from this location. We were able to easily get to all areas of the city from one of the 3 tube stations around us or the many buses. It was also handy having a grocery, laundromat, and multiple restaurants on our block. The apartment itself was clean and bright and extremely functional. Overall it was a great place and I would recommend it to any individual or couple wanting to visit London from an excellent location.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much Johanna for taking the time to review my small studio. I am so pleased you found it so convenient. Thank you again. Regards Derek

Hello Derek, I am just now back to my apartment in Washington, DC and wanted to write and let you know, that yes, we did have a lovely stay in your flat. Very cute place, with all the amenities we needed. Perfect location, comfortable, and a great value for the price. I'm very glad I found your listing! I will miss London (and its much cooler weather!), and did indeed have a enjoyable visit. Thanks very much, AmyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I thought you may like to know that they were thrilled with the suite. They said that the location was absolutely perfect and that it was attractive, clean and very comfortable (even the bed). The internet connection was a treat (a thank you from me, as I have been enjoying their holiday almost as much as they through skype and a tour tracking program - internet allowing). It was small, but perfect since the point of being in London was to see and do as much as possible, which they certainly did. The girls have had nothing but good things to say of their little Kensington suite and of London.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
