Casa Tierra is a newly renovated, authentic adobe Guest-home in a superb location 1 block north of Canyon Road and 4 blocks east of The Plaza. It is located along the Santa Fe River with its walking trails, lush foliage, and life-giving waters. From here the stroll to the center of town is flat, shaded and refreshing.
The walls of this 2 bedroom/2 bath adobe are mudded in the ancient ways of native peoples. It is this historic and lovely hand-applied earthen surface that lends the name: Casa Tierra - House from the Earth.
The authenticity of the adobe construction along with a centralized air conditioning/heating system assures year-round comfort.
Casa Tierra is tucked back off the road and entry is beneath a rare, 150-year-old Cedar-of-Lebanon Tree. Fenced on three sides and nestled among mature trees, outdoor spaces are private and inviting.
Inside this 1200 square foot home, a generous and comfortable living area encompasses fireplace, brick floors, a viga-beam ceiling and original museum quality art. The living room opens onto a granite topped kitchen with a six burner stove. Both bedrooms offer king-or-two-twin-bed sleeping options and each has its own bath with hand-painted Talavera tile.

Wow! What can I say about Casa Tierra! Ramell and I recently returned from spending several days in lovely Santa Fe. And we are already eagerly anticipating our return. The photos on VRBO do no justice! As we entered the home, we were in awe. A lot of time and love went into the design of this place. Love the antique doors that were inspired from the owners' travels to such exotic locales as India. The bedrooms are very spacious with extremely comfortable beds and Noel (one of the owner's) vibrant artwork is displayed throughout the home. Although we didn't cook during our stay, we absolutely adore the open kitchen layout with top-of-the line stainless steel appliances. If you are interested in cooking during your stay, just bring the food! The owners have the cabinets filled with dishes, utensils and other necessities that will make your stay most comfortable. It was nice to be able to return from a day out on the town and relax with a nice glass of wine by the gorgeous outside deck area. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful, yet we were within a very short walking distance to the famous Plaza area, where we could shop to our heart's content....which we did, by the way! The hospitality provided by the owners was absolutely amazing. Noel greeted us the day of arrival and took the time to sit with us and go over her suggestions for local hang out spots. We absolutely love the huge binder she compiled which features maps and restaurant choices. It definitely came in handy. We also enjoyed the lively conversation we had with Russ. I travel frequently and it was nice hearing him chat about his world travels and also his love for Santa Fe. Casa Tierra exudes warmth and love. It was the perfect retreat for us. I highly recommend this for your vacation choice. And be sure to check out the owners' other Santa Fe vacation rentals! Thanks Noel and Russ for sharing your lovely home with us! Ramell and I not only found a new vacation spot, but we've gained two new friends. Ah-h-h, Casa Tierra. You speak to our artistic side... Comfortable. Homey. Beautiful. Perfect for two couples! Two nights we knew (!) we couldn't find a restaurant as quiet and beautiful, so we "ate in" with a fire in the kiva fireplace. Ah, Casa Tierra. We hosted a couple, lifelong friends, who had never been to Santa Fe and this absolutely lovely home, full of art, beautifully decorated, and amply imbued with Santa Fe ambience, was perfect. Location could not be better for great walks to Canyon Road or the Plaza; quiet; private. An unusual cool, rainy day found us all at home, comfortably reading, watching TV, relaxing with lots of room and personal space for all. The fully equipped kitchen and lovely patio with substantial grill and all the tools allowed us to eat in a couple nights. Even in Santa Fe, this is a treat!! Highly recommended; we will be back.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We loved staying here for our girls weekend! The house was so comfortable & cozy. They really use the space well, & the living area is filled with natural light. We all agreed that the beds were some of the best beds (with wonderful linens) we've ever slept in! All of the little extra touches & attention to detail were appreciated, & made our stay even more wonderful. We enjoyed the place so much that we decided to have a girls night IN on our last night. We lit a fire in the fireplace, sat on the couch, chatted, drank wine, ate some cheese & fruit, & watched the Oscar presentations. We would highly recommend this place & found the price very reasonable.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed at Casa Tierra in mid December and found it charming, comfortable, and very conveniently located, within walking distance to downtown and Canyon Road. It is a true taste of authentic Santa Fe with a wonderful kitchen and living area, perfect for a family or friend's getaway. If you are looking for a property in Santa Fe that is convenient, comfortable, reasonably priced, and away from the hustle and bustle, take advantage of this beautiful property! Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown:
Years ago we hand-built a now somewhat-celebrated, environmental straw bale home in the Jemez Mountains above Santa Fe. Ten years ago we decided to purchase an in-town pied a'terre--just a small gem-of-a-place in which we could overnight during shopping trips in Santa Fe. Wanting to get the right place in the right location, we engaged in an eight month exhaustive search and ended up purchasing--not one--but two adobe homes in an historic neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Plaza. They became our first guest homes and we settled into this same block to live. During our ten years of strolling Santa Fe streets, we fell in love with a dirt road along the Santa Fe river with cool trails and trickling waters. Suddenly this year and right there, an authentic, rare hand-mudded adobe became available for purchase. We knew instantly it was ours . . . to share with our many repeat guests and new friends as well. And so it came to be: Casa Tierra -- 1 block from Canyon Road and 4 1/2 flat, shady, refreshing blocks to the heart of OLD SANTA FE. An oasis made manifest.
