With 5 beds, a futon and sofa sleeper, this 2,500 square foot home sleeps up to 12 guests.

As the night draws near this property takes on a whole new ambiance created by solar lighting. This child friendly home also has beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, coolers and sand toys.
Take the short stroll into Lahaina where fine dinning, bars, entertainment, art galleries, the famed Banyan Tree Park and shopping await your discovery. Walk Lahaina town's 31 official historic sites such as the Prison, Court House and the Old Baldwin Home.

The Lahaina Gate House, permit number CP 20060016, is one of 13 legal vacation rentals on Maui and the only legal vacation rental in Lahaina and all of West Maui. It took us over 4 years, and tens of thousands of dollars to get our permit approved. We are most thankful to all our neighbors; everyone on Ilikahi Street signed a petition saying they want our home to be a vacation rental. Some wrote letters of support and came to testify at our hearings.

This place is beautiful, no doubt about it. The house is lovely, bright and in great shape. The grounds are gorgeous, and the pool area inviting. The pool itself gets deep quickly, so not ideal for non-swimmers, but there were many floaty toys to help with that. I do wish I would have brought life jackets for my kids, though. Our group consisted of three couples and two young children (ages 4 years and 15 months) and this house accommodates large groups easily. It was in a quiet neighborhood and it was an easy walk into town. We brought a small stroller and a Moby/baby carrier as the walk was a too long for the young kiddos. It was nice to not have to get in a car to head to town because parking in Lahaina can be frustrating. The nearby beach is a very short walk away, but certainly not one of Maui's finest. We didn't spend any time there, other than surfing lessons (which was perfect for beginners and I would highly recommend Goody Foot). That said, it's nice to stroll along and you can carry their SUP board out for safe, easy paddling. We explored beaches at Kaanapali and further in Kihei and the house is stocked with coolers, chairs, an umbrella, and all kinds of beach toys (side note: our favorite beaches were: Makena, Keawakapu, and Wailea. Kaanapali was NOT toddler friendly). The property manager was very kind and can assist you with any trips you're thinking of doing. Lahaina is a cool, funky town and we enjoyed the historical aspect. Good shopping, lots of restaurants and bars and great people watching. Fleetwoods at sunset on the roof was beautiful, but overall, it's very overpriced. Some of our group dined at Kimo's and really enjoyed it. I would recommend exploring the Shops at 505, which is the first building you encounter as you walk into town - we liked breakfast on the beach at Betty's Beach Cafe. The Banyan tree is as cool as it seems. We also took a whale watching trip out of Lahaina with the Pacific Whale Foundation. AMAZING views of whales, although 2 hours seemed a bit long, but maybe that's because I had two young kids in tow! My only gripe would there was a lack games & puzzles, but really, that's being picky!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
