The Star-Thrower is a two-story, oceanfront duplex with a direct path to a wide, beautiful, white-sand beach.
You'll think you've gone back in time when you get to Sunset Beach. You won't see any amusement parks or Ferris wheels. Nothing but sea oats waving on the dunes and a wide white sugar sand beach calling you back to a simpler time when vacations were a period of quiet and relaxation.
For those who have a taste for excitement, Myrtle Beach is only 35 minutes away and offers various entertainments including theater, night clubs, etc., etc.
Golfer's heaven is putting it mildly as championship courses, stretch from horizon to horizon. From nearby Calabash, fresh caught fish and shrimp can be bought right off the dock. For those wishing to catch their own fish, a trip on one of the boats leaving early morning is fun and can be productive for the table.
Restaurants, major food stores and other shops are across the bridge only five minutes away. A small grocery (Deli)is a few blocks away, walking distance.
The expansive view from the front decks of our house speaks to serenity and well-being. Green wax myrtle clings to the dunes as they meander down to the strand which stretches wide until it encounters the gentle surf. Our unique geography causes Sunset Beach to face due south odd as that may sound. That means that our fabled sunsets are viewed as though rising over Bird Island rather than behind our houses. A turn in the coastline gives us this special orientation and also contributes to a more gentle surf for the enjoyment and safety of young swimmers.
Walking the beach is always pure pleasure but visitors to Sunset find a special treat in walking to Bird Island accessible across a shallow inlet. Its wild and unoccupied state except for sea birds and the occasional sea turtle enhance the feeling of being far from the maddening crowd.
There are several interesting places to visit close by. One of the best is our own Planetarium which both entertains and informs. A fine place to take young folks. It has a gift shop full of unique and special items. Nearby Ocean Isle has a museum that children will enjoy as well, should a rainy day intervene.
Our house has been lovingly furnished to provide comfort and satisfaction. All the art work is original and we have left some of our favorite books behind for visitors to enjoy. We constantly try to upgrade and add things we hope will speak to our desire to make vacation time at the Star-Thrower a happy and memorable experience. It has been for us and for many of our friends and visitors and we hope it will be for you.
The second floor has three bedrooms, two baths and a laundry alcove. The master bedroom has a queen bed, private bath, TV/DVD, small library and an ocean-viewing deck.The second bedroom has a queen bed; the third bedroom has a queen bed and a double bed. The last two share a bathroom. All rooms have ceiling fans. The fourth bedroom is on the first level.
Both sides of the Star-Thrower (Side A East, Side B West) are mirror images with the following exceptions. The fourth bedroom on Side A has a queen bed. Side B has two twin beds. Also, both sided have a sleep sofa in the living room.
A lockable, interior door connects both sides of the Star-Thrower, and is used when large families or groups of friends rent both. A floor-plan is available for planning purposes.

Beautiful views of ocean, sunset, and sunrise from large decks and balcony. Great home, clean, large and spacious. All appliances working and up to date. We had a great time on the beach. Easy access to beach, stores, bike rentals and pier. Owners are very accommodating and available. WIFI was a great bonus for the kids. I am looking forward to visiting again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonder beach front home for 2 weeks. The house had a warm and peaceful feeling and spectacular views from both porches from the family room and master bedroom. The short board walk to the beach made it easy to come and go to the beach as you pleased and, of course the beach and ocean were just wonderful. We hiked the beach and swam in the ocean every day. Evening walks on pier was a great place to see the sunset sky. The beaches were filled with family's that all seemed to be enjoying the experience. With the grocery store only a short trip across the bridge, and a nicely equipped kitchen, we cooked several nites and ate on our porch as well as enjoyed some of great dining and shopping in the local towns. The place was great and I look forward to returning to Star-Thrower in near future. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Great oceanfront location within walking distance of Sunset Beach shops. Well-appointed, comfortable, very clean home with everything needed for a relaxing family vacation and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean from the back decks. Sea Trail, North Myrtle Beach, and Calabash are very accessible (5-20 min.) to the island if you want to go out to dinner or play golf, or you can stay on Sunset Beach and enjoy the natural beauty of this island via walking or bicycles. We appreciate the conservation efforts by Sunset Beach homeowners to preserve the bird sanctuary on the west end of the island. The owners of this home are accommodating and helpful. We would certainly stay in this home again in the future, given the opportunity.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.
