We were very happy with the accommodations. We were there for a week and all our needs were met. So much happier than if we would have stayed in a motel!!! We loved the neighborhood and found all restraunts delightful and VoLo did a wonderful job setting up our anniversary party! Food was great!!! There was even a grocery store 1/2 mile away. Nice walk. The description and photos of the property were very accurate and we recommend this property with highest marks. Oh, the bed was great too. I usually have a back ache staying in unfamiliar places but not this time.!!! WE will stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

the owner was very responsive over email, and helped us check in super late at night. (thank you Chicago weather) The apartment is just the right size for a stay, with 2 bedrooms a cozy living room with gas fireplace and a good working kitchen. Plus laundry on site is awesome for packing light. The location is great. Downstairs, Volo is awesome with great food. Starbucks across the street. 3 blocks to Paulina station, 5 blocks from grocery shopping. <10 minute drive to 90/94. Overall I'm glad I found this place for my trips back home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had such a great time in this apartment. It was exactly as described. There are great restaurants and bars literally across the street and the train is very very easy to access from the house. Because of the fact that there are no cleaning fees some of the silverware wasn't the cleanest I've ever seen, but that's why there was dish soap :) Free WiFi worked perfectly and it was great to have Netflix available!!! Would definitely recommend/would stay again!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for the positive review! We'll be sure to add the silverware drawer to the cleaning checklist : ) We pride ourselves on the units being clean and ready to enjoy and cook in. Cheers!

We stayed at this location for 3 nights and couldn't have asked for anything better! The location is wonderful. Roscoe Village is such a great neighborhood. All 5 of us loved it. The suite was spacious, clean, and modern. Although we didn't actually cook dinners at the suite (just breakfast one morning), the kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cups, utensils, etc. They provided us with laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies if needed. The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful! It's just a short walk to Wrigley Field and an inexpensive cab ride downtown. We also enjoyed a glass of wine and a couple of appetizers in the gorgeous wine bar downstairs! I have already recommended this place to people that I know in the area and will continue to recommend it! We just can't say enough about this place! This is the first place I'm calling when I need a place in the city for a few nights!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The rental was very nicely appointed. Bed was very comfortable and the unit had everything you could need. The location is great. Roscoe Village is a very nice area to explore. Within walking distance to Wrigley Field. Finding a free parking spot was easy! If you have issues with steps, this would not be a place for you. As the stairs to the unit are steep!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is a really nice, clean & roomy apartment in a great neighborhood. Parking on sidestreets was not too hard to find. All the kitchen and enterainment equipment supplied was fine, and the beds were comfortable. However, on the weekends, the patrons at the Wine Bar below (owned by the same person as the apartment) were a bit loud, as you might expect. Since the weather was beautiful during our week in Chicago, there were often people at the tables out on the sidewalk, which made it a little hard to get to sleep. All in all, though, we liked the place and would recommend it and the restaurants in the neighborhood.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Really enjoyed our stay above Volo Bar. Jon was very helpful and we found the location very simple to get in and out of the downtown area either by cab or by Brown line. Great area to walk around and very close to Wrigley. Retro Days (street fair) was on right in front of us. Three stages and beer gardens which made it quite loud but quite fun on the weekend but once that was over, it was very quiet. Staff below in the wine bar were great and food was delicious. Would stay there again in a second.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 5 (kids ages 7,7 & 9) stayed at Sopra Volo and loved it! Pro's: - the owner is pleasant, accommodating, and available if needed - the unit is very clean - amenities are a plus (DVD library, netflix, XBox games, washer/dryer in unit, all linens included) - location is terrific - family friendly neighborhood, few blocks to grocery and train and little kids park with water spray The only challenge we encountered was the size of the kitchen. As I cooked all of our meals there for 5 of us, it was a little tight, but manageable. The kitchen had all the amenities you'd want. Once I went grocery shopping, I was ready to go! We stayed for a week with no car, just public transportation. Chicago is very easy to navigate, and we encountered friendly train passengers and CTA employees who gave us tips. We used the Chicago Citypass (saved 50%) and visited the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, Skydeck, Art Institute, Millenium Park, Water Tower Place, Museum of Science and Legoland Discovery Center (in Schaumburg). We brought water bottles and a cooler backpack for homemade lunches each day. We walked much of each day, then rested in the unit during the late afternoons/evenings. Depending on what's going on in the restaurant on the first floor or who has the unit above, it can be a bit noisy at night with music. Keep our perspective in mind; however, we live in the country with no noise at night. If we visit Chicago again, we'd contact Jon again to stay at Sopra Volo. It's a fantastic home away from home!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at John's place for two weeks this summer while visiting our daughter who lives on the far northwest side. We found the condo to be everything we wished for. Roomy, clean, comfortable. Also, it was a very easy and safe walk to the Brown Line at Paulina. Also, an easy transfer to the Red Line to go downtown. John was the perfect host and even "comped" us at "Kitch'n" across the street and at "VoLo Wine Bar" downstairs. Both are excellent. The only problem we had was our fault, not John's. My wife has a very bad back and the steep stairs were a challenge for her; also, the unit has a shower but no bathtub. This should not be a problem for most people, but for someone who has physical limitations, it could be. Also, be prepared for some noise from the wine bar downstairs. It was not a problem for us, but you need to be aware of it beforehand. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. Lots of shopping nearby and lots of restaurant choices, including a gelato shop right across the street. We'd go back again so long as we wanted that particular neighborhood.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was a wonderful place. Jon was awesome to us. Close walk to the "L" , just not enough time to enjoy Chicago though. If we get back we would stay there again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Owners Jon & Helene have been in hospitality for over 20 years. Jon is a restaurateur & chef, and Helene is an international flight attendant and Chicago Architectural Foundation river cruise docent.
Why the Owner Chose Roscoe Village:
We have been neighborhood residents for 15 years and have not only enjoyed raising a family while seeing a positive transformation of Chicago during that time, but also of the Roscoe Village neighborhood and its amenities. We own and operate two award-winning and acclaimed restaurants here, and realized we had the ideal setting for a bed & breakfast style vacation rental conveniently located right in the heart of our community.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
While staying at Sopra Volo (means 'above Volo' in Latin), guests have immediate access to more than a dozen dining options to fit any budget, pretty sidewalk cafes & hidden backyard garden patios, as well as unique independently owned retail shops & boutiques (also a Starbucks on our block housed in a converted former Motorcycle Cafe 'The Ace Cafe').
Within blocks there are family friendly parks, a baseball diamond, public pool, and a park district field house (offering tennis courts & a basketball court), as well as kayaking nearby.
The neighborhood is extremely walk-able, upper-middle class and safe, has seen a wave of renovations over the last decade, and just two blocks away there is a 100+ year old Pencil Factory that has been converted to lofts, with original factory-worker row houses still intact located on adjacent blocks.
Public transportation is easy from Sopra Volo and includes the Damen bus just steps out the front door (a direct 10 minute ride to the heart of Bucktown & Wicker Park), Chicago's famous 'EL' train at the Paulina stop just three blocks away, plus the Belmont or Addison (direct to Wrigley Field- Home of the Cubs) Street Bus just two blocks away.
If you visit us in the summer, Wrigley Field is just a 15-20 minute walk (about a mile and a half) through residential neighborhoods and tree lined streets, filled with 100 year old plus houses.
Finally, the guest suite is located directly above the acclaimed wine bar, Volo. It is beautifully designed with an urban chic interior and rustic hidden backyard cabana garden in which we from time to time host weddings. Additionally, the unit is located directly across the street from the celebrated casual brunch spot, Kitsch'n on Roscoe. Decked out in colorful 1970's retro dinette sets, and filled with assorted retro and vintage decor, Kitsch'n has been featured in Bon Apetit Magazine and on $40 a Day with Rachel Ray.
