Great Vacation Spot
Great Vacation Spot
We were looking for a place close to the park and away from crowds the bears den fit the bill. There was plenty of room for our party of 6. It was great to be able to do our own cooking, both inside and out, and the firepit was an added plus. Darrin was very helpful and was able to tell us some of the best things to do. The Glacier Grill, has great food at reasonable prices and is very close to this property. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to be close to the park but still enjoy the quiet and beauty of the woods.

We were planning a trip to Glacier National Park for 2 weeks and while researching places on-line to stay, we came across the “Bear Den”. The accommodations looked very appealing but you never know until you get there. Well, this location turned out to be perfect! The home was very clean & everything we needed was there. We bought our own groceries and saved lots of money by fixing most of our meals. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us with the 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms located on opposite ends of the house. The location was quiet and the beds were so comfortable, we had a hard time getting up in the morning! Our host Darrin was terrific. He had a fire going in the fireplace when we arrived! He took us on several hikes around the area and pointed out the native flora including huckleberries, apple trees, mushrooms & wild onions and all the different animal trails. We even came upon a mother bear & her 2 cubs while hiking along the Flathead River! He knows this area like the back of his hand and can show you places most visitors never see, including the original entrance to Glacier National Park, where the movie “River Wild” was filmed on the Flathead River and the best spot for huckleberry pie! In the evenings, we grilled out, enjoyed the beautiful Montana stars and had campfires in the fire pit while Darrin gave us lots of info on what to see on our trips into Glacier National Park which was just a 10 minute drive into West Glacier & Apgar Village! If you are planning a trip to Glacier and want a perfect “home base” this is the place. It was everything the website promised and more! This spot is definitely the place to stay!

About the owner: My name is Darrin Tyree, I grew up in this area and have hunted, fished and recreated here for over 50 years. I can give you great insight on making the most of your time while you are here in God's country. From hidden fishing holes , hikes off the beaten path and local eating recommendations. I can help to make this vacation one you will want to do again and again. The Bear Den is on a dead end road, bordered by forest service so you need not drive anywhere to see and experience Montana. Its all around you and trails from the back door will lead you to adventure. Pack a lunch and plan on a 1/2 day hike back for a nap and then a raft trip in the afternoon. That night you can have a bon fire and talk about the next days plan. How about it, come and let us show you our Montana hospitality.
Why the Owner Chose Coram:
If scenic beauty, fresh air and water, an abundance of wildlife and just plane old relaxing is on your list of things to see and do then we are the right destination for you. Located just 7 miles from the west entrance to Glacier National Park and within 15 miles of Glacier International Airport, 7 miles from the Amtrak main station in West Glacier. Hungry Horse reservoir is only five miles for our front door. The middle, north and south forks of the flathead river are all easily reached within 20 minutes and you can be fishing or rafting before you can whistle a long rendition of Dixie. Biking, horse back riding, helicoptor tours, fine dining or back yard bar'b'que are all within minutes of our property. We actually have a drive thru the bear park next door where your car is your cage while driving through the bears 20 arce enclosed habitat.
