Beaver Lake - Dazzling Views, Elegant Design

Enjoy our luxurious waterfront home perched on a rise overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters of Beaver Lake.
We are north of Lake Geneva, yet only 25 minutes more driving time from Chicago - and still “away from it all”. We are nestled among a dozen lakes in what has become known as Lake Country. 170 feet of shoreline and nearly 4 acres of wooded hill and open meadow encompass our tranquil oasis.
Wrapped around an 1860’s original lake cottage, an elegantly designed renovation and window-filled addition have created the spacious and modern home we have loved living in for many years.
Walk up to our main entrance from the drive and you look straight through the house onto the lake - even before you open the door. Continue into the light drenched living room and the teal blue lake unfolds before you. Then you notice the windows: floor-to-ceiling glass on four sides. Your eye travels back out over the grassy ellipse with its pair of teak chairs overlooking the boathouse deck, pier, and onto the lake. Light maple flooring leads you into the gourmet kitchen, also on the lakeside with similar window walls connecting you with the outdoors.
Wraparound glass walls bring the outside “into” the kitchen and living room. You always know what’s going on with the weather - from sparkling sun on blue waters and green leaves, to the drama of an afternoon thunderstorm. You’re inside - but you’re outside. In the nearby night house-photo, every place you can see inside the house will have a lake view looking out during the day.
In contrast, the dining room with its fireplace framed by cherry bookcases and large leather lounge chairs (yes, in the dining room) is a cozy, warm spot. It’s large enough to enjoy dining with family and friends. Dining room seats 6-8, an adjacent table seats 4-6 more. The family room still maintains its original character from when we bought the home in 1988. You can relax by the fireplace and catch a peaceful moment viewing the gardens through the bay window. In the office, the rosy color of cherry dominates, with signature lights built into the shelves adding brightness.
This is now our second home and is as fully furnished as when we lived here.
Three bedrooms are on the 2nd floor and sleep 6. The master suite includes a king and bath with glass block shower. A queen and double bed occupy the other two bedrooms, which share a full bath. Third floor suite has a main room with king bed, 2 adjoining single bedrooms and half bath. My son’s family with their two younger kids loved staying in the “tree house” - seemingly detached from the rest of the house.
The cedar-paneled boathouse has a whitewashed bead board ceiling and wide glass doors. The kitchenette supports your gas-grilled meal served either on the lake level patio or (my personal favorite) up on the boathouse roof deck. It’s also a good place to toast the sunset. You have your own pier to enjoy swimming, kayaking, and water sports.
Enjoy morning coffee on the private MBR balcony overlooking the teal lake waters – or on the drive side porch enclosed in gardens and goldfinches. Watch the sunset from the boathouse rooftop. Relax - you've earned it.

My family and I stayed at this home last summer and it was wonderful. We had a 4 families coming in and out for the week. Our kids are still talking about home much they loved Beaver Lake. The homes finishes were fabulous, and the owner was very helpful. The water in the lake was so clear. The dining room was a great place for a large family meal, or to play board games. Kayaking, fishing, swimming....it was all great. The only bad thing was that all of the family loved it so much they want to stay together the entire week and we are too big at 13!!! It is a great place that I would highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
