Magical Lake Cabin, Near the Ocean in Old Growth Woods
- Minimum stay:Contact manager
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The beautifully-restored Haseltine Cabin is an enchanting place to spend a vacation by the lake and by the sea at the same time.
The original 1930's structure and charm is still intact and you will feel as if you are in a storybook. Yet, at the same time it is completely refurbished and updated. In keeping with the old fashioned feel we have chosen not to include a T.V. or internet and instead have a vintage record collection and stereo, board games, cards and horse shoes. The family history is rich in this cabin and you will feel comfortable and embraced by the furnishings that speak of the past. The antique saw above the fireplace was used to clear the land where the cabin now sits.
Paintings grace the walls which were done by grandmothers and great grandmothers who once owned the cabin.
The nature lover who also appreciates a bit of luxury will love this place. Luxury of space and beauty and solitude, but also a jacuzzi tub!
A favorite for small family reunions or a honeymoon. A sleeping loft and a bunk bed room will be a favorite with kids. Five acres of old growth Douglas fir forests that tower around the property with trails throughout make for great explorations. Huckleberry bushes abound with berries in early Fall and Chanterelle mushrooms are often found on the property (we provide mushroom books and an expert identifier.) Bird watchers also love this rental as it is near marshlands, the lake, streams and the ocean.
In the town of Bandon you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Sea stacks, caves and tide pools lace the amazing beaches in Bandon where streams flow down to the surf. Tufted Puffins make their seasonal stop on top the Bandon Beach Sea Stacks.
Bandon hosts many fun gift shops and truly wonderful restaurants. Fresh caught crab and fish is often sold right off the docks in Old Town.
There are many great musicians who play in various venues in town and Bandon's concert hall and beautiful library will amaze you with it's riches.

This cabin is amazing! Both the building and its location were an inspiration as to what i want in my own home. It was so magical to be sitting by a fire looking out on a beautiful lake surrounded by old growth trees hearing the sound of the ocean waves in the distance- heaven! The level of decompression that occurred for us while we were here for just 2 nights was profound. We took our 3 year old son for his first canoe out on the lake and saw a river otter. The hidden trails with little benches and altars in the brush make it a fun fairyland for kids and adults. This place feels like it has been held in love and enjoyed for the many years it has been around. i couldn't more highly recommend it. We intend to make it a place we return to every year and have it become a part of our family story. Thank you!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Had never been to the southern Oregon Coast before and decided to look for a place to stay as we explored the southern coast. This place exceeded all of my expectations. It was absolutely peaceful and relaxing. My family showed up tense and stressed from our life back home and left feeling at peace and our souls refreshed. Rather than exploring the southern coast we found ourselves staying at the cabin in the woods. There was no need to venture out and explore as we had everything we needed there. Swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, berry picking, no TV (which was great for the kids) everywhere we looked there was something to do and to explore. This has definately become one of our favorite getaways and are planning on returning next year. Thanks so much for opening up your home for us to enjoy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We made our reservation about 5 months in advance. The information on VRBO was printed and read over and over as we waited for the big day to arrive. Land-locked Utahns going to a Lake practically on the Beach. The listing and description was right on. It was charming and very clean providing a peaceful week in a forest on the lake. The owner's Art Studio is only a mile or so away so she is available; although we had no problems and did not see her except to check-in and check-out. We loved the Bandon Fish Market at Old Bandon. We ate there twice. We also at in Charleston in at the Fishermans Grotto with the best fried oysters I ever had. We choose this rental primarily for the beach but found the cabin on the lake such a peaceful retreat we spent more time there. Lots of history available in the cabin about the family and area. I highly recommend it. We had 2 10 year olds and no tv or internet. They played boards games and played.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Finding this gem in the woods was the highlight of our vacation, although much too brief. We would have stayed much longer if our lives allowed. The cabin was clean, nurturing, comfortable and peaceful. Along with the beautiful climate, having hors douvres on the dock at sunset, we got to enjoy a roaring fire while we listened to a great selection of records on the phonograph. The lake was quiet and peaceful, the view spectacular, and the canoe was aching to be paddled, we'll do that next time. The owner, Angela, has provided a wonderful place to get away from it all. Near by Bandon offers long beach walks, strolls through art galleries a variety of restaurants and more. We can't wait to go back so we can do all the things we didn't have a chance to do. And yes, we've told all of the friends and family we think will cherish this spot as much as we did.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
